Before I start, this chapter wouldn't be here without the amazing @fangirl_1994. And, the song, is by 4count, which was brought to me by my best friend, Amanda. So, this chapter was all their ideas.
"Lauren, watch Jackie for me." I said, as I grabbed my keys. "Sure, why not. Got nothing else to do." She replied. "You need to stop with the attitude." I told her. "You need to stop cheating on Ashley." She replied. "What do you think I' about to go do? I'm going to Annelyy's to clear things up." I replied. "Sure." She sighed, playing with Jackie.
I grabbed my keys, and wallet. "I'll be back. If I'm not here later, it means Annelyy killed me." I said. Lauren nodded, and followed me to the door. "Ash, why would you even think about it?" She asked. "I was angry, Laur. I do things when I'm angry. But I regret it so badly. In fact, I have been working on something, and we are playing it tonight at the show here, and I'm hoping I can get Anne to get Ashley there." I replied. She nodded, and hug me.
"Hey man." Luke said, as I answered my phone in the car. "Hey. How's the song?" I asked. "Good. Everyone knows it. It's working good. We're going over it a little more." He replied. "Good." I said. "Okay, go back to driving. Get her back." He laughed. "Will do. I'll try my best." I replied, before I hung up.
I knocked on Annelyy's door, thankful Ashley's car wasn't there. I waited, and tapped my feet against each other, until the door opened. "What the hell do you want." Annelyy snapped. "Please, just let me in." I sighed. "Why the hell should I? After what you did. After sitting at home for a freaking week?" She snapped, as she closed the door. I put my foot in the door. "Give me ten minutes." I said.
"What." Annelyy said, as we sat on her couch. "I'm planning something for Ashley tonight at the show. I need you to bring her there." I replied. "Why would I do that?" She asked. "Please, Anne, I need your help." I sighed, tears brimming my eyes. "Ashton, she's planning on getting a divorce." She sighed.
"Anne, please, bring her to the show tonight. I have something big planned." I sighed. She sighed, and nodded. "Fine, okay. I'll bring her. But don't get angry if she doesn't want you back. Because.... she's... angry, upset, and she can't do this by herself." She sighed. I nodded. "I know. And I can't either. I need her. The fact that I even cheated on her, is.... not me. And I regret everything." I replied, tears running down my face. She nodded. "I'll do it." She agreed.
"Hey, let's go out tonight." Anne smiled, once I walked into the house. "I can't. I need to take care of Bry." I replied, putting the diaper bag down. "Matt can handle him. Please." She begged. I huffed. "Alright, what should I wear?" I asked. "Something casual." She replied. I nodded.
I threw on some black skinny jeans, and a band tee. I slipped on my black heels, and grabbed my bag. "Ready?" Anne asked. I nodded, and kissed Nicole's head. "I'll be back soon." I smiled. She nodded, and continued to read her book with Matt. "No, Uncle Matt." She laughed. I rolled my eyes.
"So where are we going?" I asked, as I got into the car. "It's.... a surprise. A big surprise." She replied. I nodded, as she pulled out of her driveway. "The surprise is... something big." She sighed. "What is it?" I asked. "I can't tell you yet." She replied. "Why not?" I asked. "Because then you won't go." She replied. "Anne, where are we going?" I asked. She sighed, and reached into her door. She pulled out two 5sos backstage passes. "You're kidding." I laughed. She shook her head.
"Ashley! Let's... go!" Annelyy yelled, as she pushed me into the venue. "Anne! Just stop. I told you what I'm doing. I'm not going in there, for some sappy show, that my soon to be ex husband is in." I replied. "No, Ashley, you're going in there, whether you like it or not." She snapped.
Once we got passed security, we walked to the dressing room. Luke, Calum and Michael all sat in the chairs, but Ashton wasn't there. "Hey." They smiled, coming to me. I smiled back, and looked down. "Where's... you know." I sighed. "Getting ready. He's actually going on before all of us. He should be going on soon. You two have front row." Calum replied. I nodded.
"Hello California!" Ashton yelled. He honestly looked bad. He was pale, and slouchy. He didn't look himself at all. The girls screamed, not knowing he was upset. "Welcome to our show, here. It's been a while since we played here." He said. "Now, lots of you know I recently got married." He said. Everyone screamed. "Well, I did something, and it... wasn't good." He sighed.
"What's he doing?" I asked. "I don't know. He didn't tell me his plan." Annelyy replied. I scoffed, and turned back to the stage. "So, this is a sort of new song. It's actually a cover, by an amazing group, and it's an amazing song. The guys learned it in about a week. And yeah. So, I'm going to bring out the guys." He smiled
"Alright, here is a song called, She Ain't You!" He yelled, as he settled on his drums. Luke, Calum and Michael all smiled down at me.
Ashton started out singing, "She ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you. Oh she ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you."
Luke started singing, "She could be a model with them big brown eyes body like a bottle, yeah she built so fine. She could teach you things that'll blow your mind. And the way she stealing looks could be considered a crime. I'm thinking for a minute she could be the one. But I never let it get that far. So i gotta just admit it there's no moving on. Cuz I can feel it in my heart."
Everyone started singing, "She ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you. She could be a 10 but I don't understand is. Nothing but another girl that ain't you. She could give a smile but baby all the while I keep thinking about. Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing. Oh oh oh. Baby, it's true. Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing but another girl that ain't you."
Calum started singing, "She wanna hold me close but we just don't feel it. How you going to bind when there ain't no stick, yeah. Could be the vroom without the tick tick tick. Let me tell you what the problem is. I was thinking for a minute, she could be the one. But I never let it get that far. So I gotta just admit it there's no moving on. Cause I can feel it in my heart"
Everyone sang, "She ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you. She could be a 10 but I don't understand is
Nothing but another girl that ain't you. She could give a smile but baby all the while I keep thinking about. Oh oh oh
She ain't nothing. Oh oh oh baby, its true. Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you."
Michael started, "see I knew I loved you once I saw your body snap. And even got a front, girl, I want that back back
And now I'm chasing for your love. I'm speeding... I need it. Damn, I love you, girl. now bring the beat in."
Ashton sang, "Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing but another girl. Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you
she could be at 10 but I don't understand is nothing but another girl that ain't you. She could give a smile but baby all the while I keep thinking about."
Everyone sang, "Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing. Oh oh oh, baby it's true. Oh oh oh. She ain't nothing but another girl, that ain't you. She ain't you, no. She ain't you, oh. She ain't you, no. She ain't you."
Ashton stood up, took his microphone, and walked to where Luke was standing. "Baby, I know that my actions hurt you deeply and that I've damaged your ability to trust me. And for that I am so sorry. I hope that you'll eventually be able to forgive me, and I'm committed to working hard for as long as it takes to restore your faith in me. But even if you can't commit to that, baby, I hope you can believe just how sorry and regretful I am.” Ashton said. I wiped my tears, and took a deep breath.
"Ashton." I spoke, as I saw him changing. He looked at me, and dropped the shirt. "I... didn't think you'd come back here." He replied. "I didn't think I would come here in the first place. But.... um, that song, that was.... something." I said. He nodded, and sighed. "I know what I did was totally wrong, and I know you're angry. I'm angry at myself for letting things happen like that. Just know... I would take it back if I could." He said, with such force in his voice.
"Why? Why did you do it? What crossed your mind?" I asked. "Baby, I was angry that you went to see Tyler, without telling me. And... you know how I am. I always do things that I never mean. And.... I needed to feel good again. I didn't mean for things to get that far." He replied.
"Why were you so angry about me going to visit him?" I asked. "I don't know. Probably the fact that... he's your ex, and the father of Jackie, and I'm not. I guess... I was jealous that he was the father of your first child, and not me. I was angry that.... you would get hurt, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you got hurt by him. Because then I would be angry, and I would get sent to jail, because I would have murdered him." He replied.
"Can... I trust you? Will I be able to trust you?" I asked. "Honestly, and I'm being honest. I'm not lying here. Honestly, I'm not trust worthy. I'm nothing you ever wanted. You wanted someone smart, funny, someone who... went to college, and got good grades in school.... but I'm none of those things. Your dad was right.... I don't treat you well. I don't know why you stayed with me. I'm not good for you. I never was. You're too good for me. I can't compare to people like Matt, or Jason. Because they're the things I'm not. Everything you ever wanted, is not here. And.... I understand if you want to go separate ways, or be separated, because of that. Because all I do is hurt you. Because I don't treat you good." He replied, breaking down into tears.
I took a deep breath, trying to hold in my tears. "Ashton, I stayed with you.... because I love you. I always have, and always will. You are so smart, and hysterically funny, and so what if you didn't go to college, or get good grades? I don't care about that stuff. You are who you are. Yes, you might not have been the best person in this relationship, but I know that you're trying your hardest. What you did.... is bad, but I know that you'll never do it again." I said, my voice cracking a bit.
He walked to me slowly. I was dead in my tracks. "I need you baby. I do. I can't raise two girls on my own. I can't even take care of my own self. I mean, I've been having pains in my stomach again. I can't take care of myself." He whispered. I shook my head. "I don't think you understand how much I love you. I'm so in love with you. Infatuated." He whispered.
"How long has it been?" I asked. "A week." He replied. "And you really regret it?" I asked. "On our unborn baby's life." He replied. "I told you never to bring that up." I sighed. "But it's true." He replied. I nodded. "So, Anne told you about me wanting to get a divorce?" I asked. He nodded. "Is that still on the table?" He asked. "It is. But if you do it again, I will file for one. Anne actually talked me out of it on the way here." I replied. He nodded.
"So, we're okay?" He asked. "Not quite. I will be watching you, texting you, calling you, whatever, until I trust you again." I replied. "That's fine. Just.... come home. I'll sleep on the couch if you want. I'll sleep outside. I just want you home." He said. I nodded.
He picked me up, and hugged me. "Ow, ow." I laughed. He set me down, and smiled. "I'm happy now." He smiled. "I could tell something was bothering you up there. Tell me, what's wrong?" I sighed. "I've been going to therapy. To... control my emotions." He replied. "Ashton, that's amazing." I replied. He nodded.
"Why don't you go to Anne;s. Grab your things, and the kids, and come home. I'll have myself set up on the couch." He smiled. I nodded, and took a deep breath. "We're having Mathew stay with us for a little. Anne and Matt are going on some romantic getaway." I informed. He nodded, and smiled.
"Ashley!" Lauren yelled, as I walked in the door. "Hey honey." I smiled, hugging her. "I missed you." She whispered. "I know you did. But I'm here." I smiled. She nodded, and pulled away. "Okay, let Ashley get unpacked some more, and let her sleep." Ashton butted in.
Once I was settled in bed, the door opened. "Ash." Lauren whispered. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Can I come lay with you?" She asked. "Of course." I replied, moving the blankets. She climbed into bed with me, and put her head on my stomach. "What's wrong?" I asked, smoothing her hair out. "I just missed you. Ashton and I fought for the whole time you were gone. I was debating on whether to run away to you." She replied.
"You'll stay, right?" She asked. "Of course I will. Why wouldn't I?" I replied. "I don't know. You and Ashton fight a lot, and now that you're actually my sister, and that... I actually have a step, and half siblings, it's just pressure, and-" "Hey, I was fifteen once too. I know how you're feeling. I was that child too. I have a half sibling. And a step sibling. I have a half brother too, from my mom's first marriage. He's in his thirties now, but I know how it stresses you out." I said. She nodded, and sniffed.
Soon, we both fell asleep, Lauren, on my stomach, and me, on the pillows. The blankets covering both of us.
