"Ugh! I am honestly so sick and tired of this place! How did Ricky know your name? How come he complemented your smile? Like, what the hell? What are you guys, pen-pals?" J ranted. She turned to me, anger and jealousy clearly in her eyes and face. I looked at her. "No, of course not. Plus, he liked your hair! That's gotta count for something."
J clenched her fists. "I just wanna go home. Ya hear? Let's leave. Like, now."
I tensed up. I was supposed to meet Ricky at the storage room at 3, and the time was only 12 PM.
"Uh, J, I think we should stick around for lunch. I'm starving." I lied.
"Yeah right. After what just happened, I'd rather starve than eat here." she responded.
I sighed and looked through the window where we met Ricky. He was hugging a fan, but looking at me. He mouthed the words, 'Don't forget!'
I nodded and blushed and turned to J. "C'mon, be a good sport! Let's get your favorite, burgers!"
Joanna shook her head. "Let's just go to Burger King and get something from the drive-thru. I'm not hungry."
I bit my lip, but didn't give up. "O...okay. How about a nice shopping trip? We're at a mall so we might as well shop 'till we drop, right?"
J looked at me suspiciously. "Um...you hate shopping. Why do you suddenly want to 'shop till you drop'?"
I gulped. She was right. I thought shopping was a waste of time, unless it was for tampons and food. I chewed the insides of my cheek and sighed. "You see, I um...I really need to run a few errands...for my mom."
J groaned. "How long is it gonna take?" I shrugged. "Maybe 5 hours, tops?" J glared at me. "You have got to be kidding. I am not gonna wait in a mall for 5 hours just so that you can run errands. And I know you well enough that you would never do something like that. So spill the beans, Ms. Transparent. What are you really hiding?"
I shook my head lightly. "I-I can't tell you."
J frowned at me. "Well good luck getting a ride home, 'bestie'."
