I woke up to the sound of thunder. I looked around and realized that Luke wasn't in the bed. I wonder where that kitty boy could have gone.
"Luke, where are you?" I whisper-yelled. I heard shuffling coming from under my bed. I got up and looked under it. The first thing I saw was a pair of big, terrified blue eyes. His ears were pressed down on his head. His eyes looked like they were full of fear.
"Hey Luke, are you alright?" I asked, looking at the scared boy. He backed up farther under the bed and quickly shook his head no. I looked at him in confusion, then it hit me. He must be afraid of thunderstorms.
"Are you scared?" I asked, looking into his fear-filled eyes. He nodded his head and I noticed that he had tears in his eyes. Before I could say anything, my bedroom door is opened by Harry.
"Michael, what are you doing?" He asked, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm trying to get Luke out from under the bed. He got scared by the storm" I replied, turning my attention back to Luke. The thunder came again, causing Luke to scoot even farther under the bed. I let out a sigh in frustration.
"Do you need help?" Harry asked, sitting beside me on the floor. I looked at him and then Luke. I reluctantly nodded and moved so Harry could try to get Luke out from under the bed.
"Come on out. It's ok. The thunder won't get you. Michael will protect you" Harry said in a calm voice. When he said that last part I felt the heat rise to my cheeks. To my surprise, Luke slowly came out from under the bed. The thunder roared again, causing Luke to jump into my arms and bury his face in my neck. I blushed at his actions.
"It's ok, I got you" I soothed, running my fingers through his hair to try and calm him down. 5 minutes later, I heard the soft snores coming from his mouth. I slowly got up, being careful not to wake Luke. I laid him on the bed and climbed in next to him. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up and noticed that Luke was gone again. Just as I was about to look under the bed, Ashton came into my room. I glared at him.
"How many times do I have to tell you to knock before you come into my room?" I said angrily, causing Ashton to back up a little.
"S-sorry. I came to tell you that Luke made breakfast" Ashton said, looking at me. I got up off of the floor and walked out my bedroom door. Before walking to the kitchen, I turned my attention back to Ashton.
"Sorry for yelling at you Ashton. Just remember to knock next time" I said. Ashton nodded his head and started to follow me to the kitchen. when we got to the kitchen, I noticed Luke sitting in the corner while everyone else was eating.
"Luke, why aren't you eating?" I asked, kneeling down beside him.
"I am not allowed to eat with my master. I have to wait until you eat, then I will wait until you tell me I can eat" Luke explained. I looked him in the eyes and grabbed his hands.
"Don't think of us as your master, think of us as your friend. You are allowed to eat with us. You don't need to wait for anyone to finish eating. Understand?" I explained. Luke slowly nodded and accepted the pancake that I offered him. He nibbled on it, but continued to sit in the floor. I let out a small sigh and knelt down so I was eye level with him.
"You are also allowed to sit at the table with us" I said. He looked up at me with wide eyes but shook his head. I looked at him in confusion.
"I don't sit at table with humans. I've learned that an animal is not allowed to sit at the table" Luke said, fiddling with his tail.
"Luke, you're not really an animal. You are allowed to sit at the table. Me and the boys think of you as our friend, not an animal" I explained. Luke looked at me and I noticed a flash of happiness flicker in his sparkling blue eyes. All I need to do is get this Angel of a cat to understand that he isn't our servant or pet, but he is our friend.
