I walked into class and sat in the very front. My old teacher Mrs.Capella retired and I get a new one. I have always loved photography and I hope one day I will have a photography job. As the teacher walked in I got out my camera.
"Okay class. I'm Ms.Hewn and I'll be your photography teacher. Does anyone not have their own camera. A girl in the back raised her hand.
"What's your name?" Ms.Hewn asked harshly.
"Malaria" she said in a confident tone.
"Get out. And don't come back. Without. Your. Own. Camera." Malaria got up and picked all of her stuff up and left. Tears were running down her cheeks and her eyes were bloodshot.
"Now. Take your cameras and take a picture of anything. I stood up and walked around for a moment. I decided to take a picture of a globe. I positioned myself to an angle I liked and focused out the background. When I sat down I noticed I was the only one who got up and looked around. Ms.Hewn walked over to my desk and squatted down to the height of the desk.
"Let me see the picture you took of that globe." I handed her the camera and she looked at it for quite a while. She handed it back to me.
"Print it." She demanded.
"May I used your computer?" She nodded and I went over to her computer and printed the picture twice. I kept the one with not as good quality. I handed her the picture and she took it over to her desk. She picked up a red marker.
"A!" She said as she circled the capital A on my paper. "Everyone else come in tomorrow with a picture printed. You will get a C if it's amazing. If not you will fail." My mouth dropped and I looked at the picture. My first A.
"Ms.Hewn. Can I do something very quick before I forget?" I smiled and she nodded. I asked everyone to stand up and go to the front of the room. I took one of the boys from my class and sat him in the middle. I threw a few papers around and tilted my camera. I took a picture and sat back down followed by everyone else.
"Why?" Ms.Hewn asked.
"When I get an idea I have to do it." I looked at my camera. And handed it to her. Look at all of them. They were all in the spur of a moment. Creativity comes from around you not what someone tells you is creative." She smiled and nodded. She wrote the quote on the board and proceeded to tell everyone to right it down. We all wrote it somewhere. I wrote it on the cover of my ideas notebook.
"Class dismissed." Ms.Hewn exclaimed as we all stood up. I saw Robbie waiting outside for me when Ms.Hewn called me over.
"Your an amazing photographer. What you did was exceptional. If you ever have an idea come to me. You can teach me a lot. Good day." She gave me a wink and I walked out with a huge smile on my face.
"Hey Colton wants me to hang out. You should come!" I laughed and took his hand.
"Demon spawns boyfriend. I'm sorry babe. We can hang out tomorrow." He laughed. I opened my locked and put my camera away.
"Caitlyn won't be there. Just me you Colton and Caroline." I looked at him and grabbed my math stuff.
"Caroline. No. No. No. You know she has the biggest crush on him. She will die." I closed my locker and walked to math with Robbie.
"She already accepted."
"Okay. I'll go. To protect Caroline." We laughed and walked into math and took our seats. After school I drove Robbie and Caroline to Colton's house. I hesitated but got out of the car.
"COLTON. IM HOME!" Robbie yelled out walking through his door and grabbing my hand. He squeezed it and let go. He ran into the back room and I followed.
"I can't believe I'm here. In Colton's house." Caroline whispered in my ear.
"I know. It gets weirder each time." Colton was one of Robbie's closest friend and queen bitch herself boyfriend. My phone rang and the number came up blocked. I got up and answered the phone.
"WHY IS YOUR CAR OUTSIDE MY BOYFRIENDS HOUSE?" I heard Caitlyn scream.
"I'm at his house." I said simply hanging up. I walked over to Robbie and told him I had to go. I gave him a kiss and drove me and Caroline to my house.
"Why did we leave?" She asked taking a bite of ice cream.
"Queen bitch called me screaming." We laughed and finished our ice cream. After she left I laid in bed. My phone buzzed. (Text convo between Robbie and Mandi)
R: hey what happened!?
M:Caitlyn called and freaked.
R:Why do you always do this.
R:Say you'll do something and back out. You just decide your leaving. I'm supposed to be more important to you than that.
M:Robbie what the hell. I got a call from the devil itself screaming because I was at Colton's so I decided to leave so I wouldn't go to school tomorrow with drama on my mind. I need to do good in school.
R:You don't need to be so scared of her. Grow some balls and stick up for yourself because I'm sick and tired of doing it for you.
M:That's what a boyfriend does. He protects his girlfriend and loves her. He is supposed to support her not hurt her. Can't you tell I've been going through a lot recently with my dad. Get of my back.
R: It's been 3 years and your still using that excuse. Get over yourself and be more mature.
M:My dad might be dead and I'm hurting. Why would you say that?
R:Because I'm tired of you always needing attention and help because you lost someone. Get over it. Your not the only person in your life going through something.
M:Attention? Robbie you went to far. I'm done. With you and with us.
I locked my phone and ran into Marlyns room.
"Marl?" I said crying hysterically.
"OMG what happened!?" She asked jolting up and hugging me. I handed her my phone and she read the messages.
"Why would he say that?" I said between sobs.
"This isn't like Robbie! I don't know!" She said rubbing my back.
"I love him. He promised me forever." I said crying in her shoulder until I fell asleep. I woke up with a missed call from Robbie. I went into my room and tucked myself under my covers.
"Mandi! Get up time for day 2!" My mom yelled. I didn't move. I texted her I didn't feel well and was staying home. She replied with oh. Okay. Marlyn told her. My phone started to ring. It was Robbie.
"What." I answered chocking back the tears.
"I'm sorry. Can we talk?" He said sounding hurt.
"Not over the phone." I said and hung up. He texted me and said he would be at my window after school. I laid down and fell back to sleep. I was woken up by someone shaking me.
"Baby. Wake up. It's me Robbie." I heard a loving voice say.
"Window." I said and got up. I had only underwear and a tank top on. I walked over and sat down.
"Talk." I said. He took my hand.
"I'm so so sorry. Last night me and Colton were drinking. I was drunk and I shouldn't have said that. It's not true at all. I love you." I rolled my eyes.
"People say alcohol is also a truth serum." He sat up straight.
"Mandi. It's not true. I didn't mean any of it. You know how much I care about you and I would never let you go through this alone. I know it's not for attention. Please. Baby I love you." He pleaded.
"I love you too!" I kissed his lips and he picked me up and twirled me around. He kissed my neck and the down my shoulder. Before I knew if we were in my bed under the blankets naked.
"I love you so much." Robbie said kissing my forehead as we laid in bed and watched Netflix.
"I love you too." I replied. I wish I could spend every day just like that. But then my mom came home with Marlyn. I sat up and put on some clothes. So did Robbie we went downstairs and my mom wasn't taking her shoes or jacket off.
"Where ya going" I asked her.
"We are all...including Robbie...going to the the office and talking to Russell." I looked at Robbie and took a deep breath.
"Dad?" I asked.
"Yeah. They know something big." Marlyn said coming down stairs with a button up and khakis for Robbie and a pencil skirt and button up for me. We went up into my room and changed.
"Why so fancy? We never dress like this!" Robbie said. He usually goes to these meetings with me for support.
"BIG!" I laughed. I slipped on my flats and looked I the mirror. "Do I look okay with there white flats or should I wear back?" I asked Robbie.
"White shirt white shoes." He said kissing my temple.
"Okay. How do I look?" I said nervous I don't want to hear that he's dead. I don't want to hurt.
"Amazing. Let's go." He said. We got down stairs and I stopped in the back room for tissues that I slipped into my wristlet without notice from anyone else.
"Let's go." I said taking a deep breathe.
