Too good to be true

"Do you actually love me?" I cried, dreading to hear the answer.
"Yes," he mumbled, walking out the door. Was this the last time?

Maya and Dan weren't the most predictable couple around. She was a pretty, preppy girl, and him... Well, he was very different.

Was this destined to fail?

13. Chapter 13

Maya's POV

It was late in the night, or early in the morning, when I woke up. I couldn't get back to sleep, so I picked up my diary, I carry it everywhere with me, and started writing.

'Tonight was amazing, I went out for a meal with Dan, Alex and Phil. They're all so adorable. Phil drove me home to get some clothes. I put on my favourite dark dress that mum never let's me wear, and those really nice boots. I had to put my old bow in as well, especially since I heard that my grandma was in hospital. I really wish that she could get better, but it's unlikely. I'm not even allowed to visit her; so unfair. I mean, I texted her yesterday and she replied fine, I don't know what happened. '

I started crying, and shoved the diary into my bag, hoping I could get back to sleep. It took a while, but I finally did.

At about 7 o'clock I woke up, school habits, and checked my phone. There was a text from my mum.

Hi hun, I'm guessing you got the news about gran. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but before I left there was a good chance of her recovering well, I hope you're okay, message me anytime you need me. I'm not sure when I'll be home, but you're 16 next week, you can look after yourself for a while right? xx

She left on Monday. Two days ago, there's no way gran was fine then. I couldn't live with a mother that didn't even care to tell me these things.

Hiya mum. Yeah I got the news that you decided not to tell me. I'm 16 next week, and I'll be moving out as soon as I can, if that's alright with you. xx

I was so angry, I didn't even have anywhere to stay, but I wanted to leave her to herself, I needed my own space, privacy, and I needed to be part of a family.

I didn't think it was relevant at the time love, and if you want to move out, I can't stop you, just make sure you're safe and can afford wherever you're living if you do. I'll be back soon xx

I didn't even bother replying. I'd find a place to stay, get a job, and live without needing her help.
