7. Chapter 6
As I was walking I smelt something unusual. The scent was heading for my home. I ran home immediately but found nothing. I walked into my house and randomly decided to try on the dress my dad had gotten me for my birthday. I put it on and went back down stairs to watch some TV. My dad was probably sleeping judging by the loud snoring coming from his room. I wasn't tired at all from the events of that night. I looked at the clock and I read 4:00 am. I felt like going for a ride on the beach because I had nothing better to do. So I wrote my dad a note saying where I was, grabbed my new bow and some arrows (just incase) and went to the barn to get Cobalt.
As Cobalt and I were walking, I smelt something funny again. And as I guessed so did Cobalt. His head and ears were up and he was fidgety. "Easy boy" I say to try and calm him down. I soon found out what we were smelling, I saw a group of people on the trail headed towards my home.
Cobalt whinnied a pranced around clearly startled. I could imagine why, they all carried big guns and glowing wands and they were headed straight for us because we were in between them and my home. As they got over the ridge, I notched an arrow to my bow and Cobalt finally lost it. He started rearing, but this time I stayed on.
I must have been quite I sight in my black flowing dress on a rearing black horse with a bow and arrow in hand. Put that together with the sunrise behind me and the ocean. They all stood either in awe or shock because none of them moved. When they stood still I could see their uniforms. They all wore the same symbol over their hearts; earth with chains wrapping around it. Gagers.
Lucky for me, they still stood there like sitting ducks. Or at least they did until one by one a third of the troop fell with arrows in their heads. They started to shoot, Cobalt freaked even more and he now started to run away from them, with me on his back. We got back to the house and I got Cobalt's battle armour on him much faster than I thought I could. Then I ran inside, "DAD! WAKE UP! THE GAGERS ARE HERE!" He ran downstairs "What? How did they find us?" "I have no idea!" "Run downstairs and get your uniform on and grab as many supplies as you can!" "Ok" I did as I was told. My uniform was a pair of black pants, black shin-high boots, and a black over coat that had a hood and was longer in the back. I grabbed my two swords and strapped them to my back, took 2 quivers of arrows, my bow, and enough fresh food and water to last a week.
I ran back upstairs and out the door to the barn where I found my dad already saddled on his horse. I grabbed Cobalt, mounted and we both rode for the beach. As we had expected, a small troop of Gagers waited for us there with guns at the ready and sticks at their sides. Dad and I galloped up to the troop, they were surprised we weren't stopping, but even more so when we both jumped over the first line of people and bowled through the second. We ran down the beach with the Gagers close on our tails. Then there was a bang as one Gager shot, I here a scream of pain and look over the my right and my dad is still riding but clutching his shoulder while it bled profusely. "NO!" I heard myself scream. "What ever you do, keep riding, don't -ARGH- l-let them catch you and remember who you are. I love you." He said then he fell of his horse, I looked back just in time to see the Gagers surround him. "I love you to daddy" I said although I knew he couldn't hear me.
