6. Chapter 5
At first the pain was unbearable, millions of little knives digging into every vital organ I had, mix that with the feeling of being shot in the head multiple times. Then it just stopped. There was no pain, just a numbing feeling. I got up, I hadn't even noticed that I had fallen down. I shook my head to try and get the buzzing noise out. I looked around and saw that Brammer was now a bear again. Although I knew what and who he was, he still scared me in this form. I felt very confused as to why he seemed so much bigger than before. Then I heard my dad say "Alice, are you ok?" I tried to tell him "Ya dad, I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?", but it can out as a series of barks and yips. Wolf, I thought. Upon hearing myself in this manner, I panicked and started backing up frantically shaking my head, until I backed into a tree which startled me so badly I shot forward running so fast I didn't see the tree in front of me until a second to late, I ran head first into the tree. I rolled on my back with a whimper, while my dad and Brammer laughed at me. I got up with a huff and said to my dad "Hey! It's not as easy as it looks to be a wolf". He let out a sigh "Sorry sweetheart. Now you must go with Brammer for the night, he will teach you how to be a proper animal. I love you. You can come back in the morning." he rubbed my head then walked back home. I walked to a puddle near the fire to get a good look at myself. I was a large grey-blue wolf with stunning brown eyes. I looked back at Brammer as he said "Follow me". I did as I was told. He taught me how to control my speed and my other wolf type skills as I guess you would call them, like how to jump, and hunt. Hunting was my favourite part of the night. He had decided that we would hunt a herd of deer that was in the forest. We stalked the deer as he took his place on the opposite side of the herd. Through our telepathic connection that I had soon learned about, he explained to me our plan. "Ok, so because this is your first hunt, we won't go for the buck but rather one of the does. Got that?" I nodded "Ya", "Good, now, I'll flush one out towards you, when the doe get to be right beside you, you lunge for the throat. You should have no problem killing it considering its your area of expertise." "You got that right" I sent back to him. "Ready?" "Ready". He jumped out of his hiding place and started growling savagely, which actually scared me as well as the herd. He started to chase one doe towards me. As I waited in a bush beside a path, the doe bounded beside me and I lunged. The look of fear in the doe's eyes was extreme as I leapt from the bush, grabbed it's neck and bringing it down to the ground with me. I bit down hard, tasting the warm blood run over my teeth. I held my grip until the doe stopped struggling as it died. The doe tasted extremely good considering I skipped dinner. After Brammer and I had finished our meal, I thanked him and was about to leave when he said "Alice wait, one last thing I must teach you. After every kill we make, regardless of who or what it is, we must thank the Moon and the Gods". He let out a huge roar, and I howled. It was invigorating to hear something so beautiful come from me. Once we finished, I shifted back and started walking home.
