4. Chapter 3

*Alice's POV*

When I got home, I put Cobalt out and ran up to the house. I took a shower hoping my dad wouldn't see me in the state I was in after falling off. I got out and put on my pjs then went downstairs to finds my dad on the couch watching tv. "Hey dad" I said "Hey sweetheart how was your ride?" "Great, I shot some arrows in the woods. I fell of Cobalt though." "What happened?" He asked with a concerned tone "are you ok?" "Haha I'm fine dad, he just spooked, and reared. It just took me by surprise". "Cobalt? Spooked? He never spooks!" "I know, it does seem funny doesn't it" I said.
That night I just laid in my bed running the events of the day over and over in my mind. Trying to figure out what was wrong with the whole situation. I came to the conclusion that I would go back there tomorrow. I would get the entire day off because it was my birthday. I would be turning 16 tomorrow! I finally shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICE!" My dad yelled when I can downstairs the next morning in all my morning glory. "Thanks dad!" I said as I gave him a big hug. "What's for breakfast?" I asked him, "French toast, your favourite!". Breakfast was delicious. After breakfast my dad and I went on the couch and he gave me my birthday presents. I got a long black flowing dress, a larger wooden bow, two swords and a necklace with an arrow charm. "Thanks so much daddy for everything! I love you" "I love you to sweetheart" he said as he hugged me back.
I saddled Cobalt and rode off to where I last saw the boy. When I got there, there was no trace of him. Good riddance I thought. Then I saw something in the shadows, I thought it was the boy again so I notched an arrow and pointed it at the figure and said "I thought I told you never to come back here" the figure didn't move, "Hello? Are you listening to me?". The figure growled and I saw two glowing blood red eyes that belonged to the large black bear of my dreams. I screamed and spurred Cobalt on in the direction of our home.
I put Cobalt in a stall to make sure he was safe then ran inside. "DAD?" I yelled "DAD?" I yelled again. Then I saw a note on the fridge "Hey Alice, ran into town to get some food and supplies. Be back soon. Love, Dad". Oh great I thought to myself. I locked all the doors and windows and ran up to my room for the night, not bothering with dinner.
I woke up when my dad got home which was around 11 pm. He came into my room and found me curled up in a ball on the corner of my bed. "What happened?" he asked. I told him about the dream I had two night before and the black bear I saw in the forest. He turned stark white as I finish my story. "What's wrong?" I asked him worried because he didn't usually seem scared of anything. He looked out the window at the full moon and cursed. "What?" I asked him again. "Honey, you are going to have to listen to me very carefully ok?" "Ya what is it?" "We are going to go into the forest clearing. I will explain there." "What?" I just asked. This made no sense but for the sake of my dad I went along with it.
We walked silently through the forest. "I still don't understand why I couldn't take Cobalt" I stated to him. "Trust me, you won't need him." he plainly said which worried me slightly. But I tried to contain my worried look because after all we are assassins and assassins aren't supposed to get worried or scared, right? We got to the edge of the clearing and I screamed. In the middle of the clearing was the extremely large black bear with blood red eyes.
