3. Chapter 2
While we were walking, Cobalt suddenly stopped, ears up, looking around frantically. "What is is bud?" I asked. Then I heard a twig snap, I swung around with an arrow notched in my bow, I was completely taken aback by the figure that stood in the shadows. I let my arrow fly and I stuck in the tree right above to figure. It jumped out yelling "DON'T SHOOT!". This startled Cobalt so badly that he reared up, ditching me from the saddle. "AHH!" I yelled as I fell. I landed with a thud and a groan, "Stupid horse". "Who are you?" the stranger asked, I had forgotten he was there. I quickly stood up, notched another arrow and pointed it at him, "Depends who's asking" I replied.
He was tall, taller than me, but only by a bit. With black messy hair and hazel eyes. "I'm a friend" he said slowly. "You are no friend of mine, I don't know who you are." I spat. He put his hands up in defence "My name is Fallon, I'm from New York, my family is here on vacation for the summer. We are camping in these woods not far from here." he spoke quickly. "Why are you here? No one should be here!" I asked. "I was hiking and I got lost, then I saw something moving in the woods, I went to go check it out and I turned out it was you" he said with a smile that seemed very fake.
"If you were just hiking then why do you have that?" I gestured to the gun strapped to his waist "Um... for protection?" I drew the string back a little further and he flinched closing his eyes "Ok ok, I was hunting, I heard about sightings of bears last night!" "Bears?" I questioned as I loosed a bit. "Ya" "There aren't bears around here. You shouldn't be here!" I said quickly, I whistled and Cobalt shot his head around a nearby tree then came trotting over to me "You big suck" I said laughing I he nuzzled me and snorted. He then timidly walked over to Fallon, sniffed him then sneezed all over him and trotted back to me. I mounted him and said "There is a trail just over that ridge that will take you back to the main road. Don't come back here again." I said as I started to walk away. "Wait!" he said, "Since we are never going to see each other again can you at least tell me your name?" I hesitated then mockingly said "Alice, welcome to wonderland". Then I rode back home.
