The Super Babies - Part 2

The legend of the X-Babies continue! Baby Lindsay longs to join the X-Babies, especially after her parents died and she was orphaned. Eventually she got her chance, and before she knew it she faced the first foe and the first adventure she knew was coming. "An X-Baby lives to help others," Peter warns her, "not seek adventure." And even when Mr. Stupid NoHead goes his sons are still at large, as is a nearly-forgotten enemy...also, that's Lindsay on the cover.

19. Infiltrating The Hideout

Baby Intelligence started the Pinewood Derby confidently. He sent Baby Strength, Telekinibabe, and Lindsay Kellerman to the NoHead base in portable escape pods. However, he would not be accompanying them. He had heard of thievery at the bench store and went with Force Baby. No doubt Hell Burnbottom's brothers were behind it. Whether they really were behind this crime, or at the base, they would be disposed of soon enough.

Within two minutes the Derby arrived at the store. Both climbed out and made for the entrance. They spotted a picture frame lying cracked on the ground. A painting of a male child was etched on it, holding a flag under the sun.

"Look at that kid," said Force Baby. "I think he's a spy."

"Nonsense," said Baby Intelligence, and prodded the kid's face with his foot. Suddenly, the frame overturned, pulling Baby Intelligence inside! Left with no alternative, Force Baby prodded the picture as well. Both landed in a pitch-black room underground.

Baby Intelligence reached for his flashlight, but realized it was gone. "Use your flashlight. Mine fell off my belt."

Force Baby clicked the "on" switch twice. Nothing happened.

"Darn! Mine's broken, Master!" he said, agitated.

Just then, Telekinibabe reached in through the frame passage and tossed Baby Intelligence's flashlight to him. "I wanted to make sure you were all right," he said. "Before we took off."

Baby Intelligence thanked him and turned it on. As Telekinibabe left to join the others, Baby Intelligence shined his flashlight around and saw a box wrapped with duck tape. Force Baby tore it open. Inside was a Mac computer.

"There's something screwy going on," said Baby Intelligence. He tilted his flashlight, revealing a group of wrapped boxes ahead. Force Baby moved forward and tore it open to reveal a flatscreen PC.

Although Force Baby was having fun tearing the wrapping paper, all the Macs and PCs he revealed eluded Baby Intelligence.

"It's technical theft," he told Force Baby.

"What's that?" Force Baby replied.

"Just what it sounds like," Baby Intelligence replied. "Follow me."

Force Baby did. They headed through a door, and saw Mean King talking to Brute Gunray via hologram. My squad has not arrived yet, then.

Mean King turned to see the new arrivals. "It appears we"

Baby Intelligence drew his sword, and Force Baby cocked his gun.

"On guard!" said Baby Intelligence.

Force Baby fired, but Mean King ignited his sword and deflected the blasts. Baby Intelligence rushed at Mean King and threw a blast headed at Force Baby into the wall.

Mean King raised his arm, and blue lightning pulsed from his fingers. Baby Intelligence leaped forward and used his sword to block the lightning, rendering both babies unharmed. Mean King released the beam and telekinetically strangled Force Baby. Force Baby grunted as he felt the breath leave him. Then he hit the ground hard. As he lost consciousness, his last thought was, I hope my Master has more luck than me...

"Our rematch comes at last," said Baby Intelligence. "We have eliminated half your squad. NoHead, Burnbottom, and Rotta are dead. Now would be a good time to surrender."

"You are blinded by your success!" said Mean King. "Now you will feel the full power of the darkness!" He fired another stream of lightning, and Baby Intelligence blocked it with his sword.

Mean King released the beam. "You cannot stop what is to come!"

"The world is not yours yet," said Baby Intelligence. "Making that quite debatable."

Then he ignited his sword and brought it down, only to be met by the NoHead Marauder's blade.

Meanwhile, the escape pods belonging to Lindsay, Telekinibabe, and Baby Strength streaked across the sky. Eventually they reached the base. As the trio they were assigned, the S.M.S.B. weaved their way through the base in an attempt to find Brute Gunray.

There, all three moved cautiously through a deserted hall. Suddenly, Lindsay pointed. She saw a group approaching on the other end through a side hallway.

Suddenly, the Rocket commander, RC-4, turned and opened fire. Telekinibabe reached for his sword and deflected the blasts. Amid the smoke, RC-4 disappeared. Lindsay watched him go anxiously. Undoubtedly, he would call more Rockets in.

The Rockets that had been with RC-4 turned tail and started firing. Together, the trio aimed the bullets back at the robots, blasting them quickly. Then they rushed down the next hall.

"One of them are in here," said Lindsay.

"How do you know?" asked Baby Strength.

"I can feel the presence of the dark side only in here," said Lindsay. "Let's go!"

Just then, another group of Rockets emerged from the door Lindsay had pointed to and started firing.

Drat, didn't think it would be that easy, thought Lindsay as she deflected the first blasts. Finally, she aimed one back, knocking out one of the enemy. In a prefect row, the babies moved in and cut down the rest without hitting each other.

Baby Intelligence trusts me with Tyler, and I'm not going to let him down, thought Lindsay with determination as the last Rocket hit the floor. The babies took a step forward, but Lindsay stopped at the door leading into a dark chamber.

"Do you reckon it's safe?" she asked cautiously.

Impatient to get in, Baby Strength rushed past Lindsay, only for a metal door to crash down behind him. Lindsay and Telekinibabe were cut off from Baby Strength and whichever NoHead, if both, were inside.
