"It's time for you to leave, the new mother needs to get her sleep. Sorry." The nurse instructed as Mum handed Imogen back to me, kissing me on the forehead.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning, Ellyse. Bright and early." Michael chuckled and winked, giving me a kiss on the cheek and pecking Imogen's tiny hand, "Love you, baby girl." He whispered to our new child before smiling and leaving the room, "Sleep well you two. I love you both." I smiled and nodded before turning my attention back to Imogen who was sleeping on my chest. Her arms were held close to her, her legs curled up to her as she yawned.
"I'm sorry but you have to get some rest now." The nurse said as I let her take Imogen out of my arms and she placed her in a cot thingymabob next to me.
I watched my beautiful daughter as she slept next to me. God, she's so beautiful. How did I get this lucky? My eyes were closing on me and I finally gave in. My eyes shut and I fell asleep instantly.
My eyes fluttered open to a crying baby, "Imogen.." I mumbled as I sat up in bed, a nurse coming in as well, "What does she want?" I asked, my mother instincts obviously haven't kicked in yet.. The nurse raised her finger as she carefully picked up Imogen and placed her in my arms.
"She needs to eat. Will you be breastfeeding or bottlefeeding?" She asked and I didn't even have to think about that for a minute. Breastfeeding, better for Imogen and that's all I want - for her to be happy, healthy and safe.
"Breastfeeding." I said and she nodded as she came over to help me. Apparently feeding a baby is a lot harder than I thought.. Who knew right? Not me..
"Hello, Imogen.. Hello, bubba." I smiled as she rested on top of me, her mouth open wide and her head rested on her hands. I admired her beauty as she slept, a yawn escaping my lips as I ran my finger gently down and up her arm, feeling her soft, smooth skin.
I cannot believe this little one is mine. I brought another human into the world.. Oh my gosh. That's absolutely crazy! My little girl..
As I reached the end of her arm, Imogen grasped my finger with her whole hand and my smile grew as she held onto it, "I love you, darling.." I lightly chuckled as the most adorable smile appeared on her face and the most innocent giggle escaped and I swear my heart just melted, "Aren't you just the most adorable thing ever?" I cooed as she giggled once again and I gently carressed her cheek with my finger.
"Cuties." I heard a certain red haired boy spoke and my grin grew as I saw him walk into the room, a grin on his face, out of the corner of my eye, my ees still on Imogen, "She's so beautiful.." He whispered as he pressed a kiss to my cheek.
"I thought you said you were going to be here in the morning... Bright and early, remember?" I winked and giggled as Imogen started to cry but settled down quickly once Michael held her.
"I changed my mind. I need to see my two beautiful girls." He smiled as he held her securely but gently in his arms, "Hello, Imogen Alexis Clifford.. O-oh, we are taking my name right?" He asked and I giggled and nodded and Imogen smiled up at him.
"What happened with the whole Taylor and Michael, "Maylor" if you will, thing. Are you two dating or not or..? Everything's just so confusing.." My voice got quieter and quieter ad I finished, my words barely audible by the end.
He sighed. "We did date. For a little while but it just.. Didn't feel right, from the first date we went on, I knew this wasn't right and we weren't meant to be.. You and I were or are. I wish I had realised that sooner before I went off and kissed her.." He said and I nodded softly as he handed Imogen back to me and she rested in my arms, sound asleep, "I still feel horrible, babe. For what I did. I screwed up everything and I truly am sorry, Ellyse. Can you forgive me... Please?" He asked and the ends of my lips twitched up into a small smile.
"Of course I will, Michael.. I guess I over reacted a bit.. Or, well, a lot." I apologised too and giggled as he pulled a chair over to the side of my bed and he gave me another kiss on the cheek. I turned my head to face him, our lips just centimetres apart, "I don't want to rush back into our relationship though, Michael. Let's just take it slow and focus on Imogen for a while.. God. Our lives are going to be so different now." I said and Michael nodded in agreement as we both looked down at Imogen who seemed to react when I said her name. She stretched out her little arms and I quickly pecked her hands before she brang them back close to her.
"Do you still have the rings?" He asked and I looked back up at him, biting down on my bottom lip as I looked into his eyes, slowly getting lost on them before nodding.
"Yes.." I replied before our lips crashed together, his hands coming up to cup my cheeks but I held onto Imogen because, you know, what kind of mother would I be if I just let my new born child go? A bad one.
