I woke up suddenly to the sound of banging on the front door to Neely’s home. The knocking immediately instilled fear in me. What if Jake found out where Neely lives, and that I was staying with him? Jumping out of bed, I ran to the living room, looking for my protector. He was casually sitting on the couch, a smug grin on his face, a cup of tea in one hand, and a newspaper in the other.
“Morning sunshine.” He said, his eyes still on the newspaper.
“Uh, do you not hear that banging?” You could hardly hear the end of my sentence due to the knocking and banging again.
“I do hear it.” The smug grin was still etched across his face, confusing me even more. “But I think it’s for you…”
“My god Raegan, just go answer the damn door.” He said, laughing at my hesitation.
“Okay……” I walked past the staircase over to the door, still a little hesitant about it. However, in the back of my mind it was obvious that Neely was in on whatever this is. Part of me wondered if it was Niall, but I knew that was impossible because him the lads were on their way to Texas right now for the next show. As I turned the handle and pulled the front door open. I was greeted by girly screams and the sound of heels clicking on the porch from the owners jumping up and down. My hand flew to my lips covering my gaping mouth as I took in who was standing in front of me. Perrie Edwards and Eleanor Calder were standing on my doorstep, well technically Neely’s doorstep.
“Awww she’s as adorable as the boys described her!” Eleanor squealed jumping up and down. “I’m Eleanor, Louis’ girlfriend.” She said, introducing herself. Her intro made me laugh, she didn’t have to tell me who she was. I would recognize her from a mile away.
“And I’m Perrie. Zayn’s girl.” Perrie said to me. Once again, the intro was so not needed. I couldn’t believe that Perrie Edwards of the amazing girl band Little Mix, was standing on my doorstep next to Eleanor Calder fashion guru.
“It’s so nice to meet you both. Really, I’m shocked you’re here.” I started gushing to them.
“Get a load of her accent El?” Perrie giggled. “I love it.”
“Can we just hug you? We’ve been so excited to meet you.” Eleanor rambled, a blush coming to her cheeks, I could tell these girls and I would be really good friends already.
“Of course, bring it in ladies.” I said to them. They looked at each other then they both smothered me with a group hug.
Today was going to be a good day.
“So, is this acceptable for going out shopping?” I asked the girls as I made my way back to the living room where they enjoying some tea with Neely. I was still in my PJs when they arrived, so they gave me some time to shower and get ready. I stood in the middle of the living room so they could assess my outfit. I wanted to look good, and getting advice from the two of the most fashionable ladies I can think of is an opportunity I would not pass up. I was wearing a tribal racer-back dress, simple roman sandals with black stripes, gold hoop earrings, my fedora, a feather bracelet, and my aviator sunglasses.
“You look fabulous.” Eleanor commented in her lovely British accent, giving me the up down with her eyes before taking a sip of tea.
“Well done doll. You look fit.” Perrie chimed in, making me blush.
“Niall did not do you justice when he first told us about you.” Eleanor added, clicking her tongue and rolling her eyes.
“Well thank you very much.” I said to them. “And Neely? Whataya think?”
“You look like a normal girl easily hidden from the paparazzi.” He answered, making us girls crack up. “And you look nice of course.”
“Sounds like the usual, coming from a body guard.” Eleanor said, chuckling at the end of her sentence. “Are we ready to go?"
“I think so.” I started to say, looking over at Neely for confirmation. He nodded and stood up out of the armchair, and the girls did the same. We followed him to the front door and climbed in the car giggling about typical girl things as we did so. Now that we didn’t have a Range Rover, we have a simple all black BMW sedan, which was really nice. It had all the features you could think of and I had no complaints other than missing my Jeep.
Neely started driving towards the city, and I had no clue where we were even going. All I knew is that the girls were here to spoil me and help me find a perfect dress for the premiere in London, all on Niall’s orders, as well as Zayn and Lou’s. I had absolutely no clue what I wanted to wear to the event. Did I want a long gown? A short one? Something simple? Something daring? I hadn’t an idea and I was glad the girls would be here to help me out. They have the experience of going to different functions and I had faith that we would find the perfect dress.
“So, we already know what we’re wearing. Today is all about you.” Perrie said to me emphasizing each word at the end of her sentence.
“What are you guys wearing?” I asked them out of curiosity. Both of them pulled out their phones and showed me pictures. From what I could tell, both of them were going to look beautiful. El would be wearing a dark blue dress that hit mid-thigh. The material was shiny and silky, and it was just a great piece in general. Perrie’s dress was even more intricate. She would be wearing a long evening gown was completely black up until the waist. The top half was made of a nude fabric underneath, and an intricate flower design on top of that in the front. It was made for her, something I myself could never pull of.
“Now, the guys are all wearing black and white so we don’t have to worry about clashing with them with any colors or anything. You’ve got a lot of options my darling.” Eleanor started to explain.
“And Niall said no limits on how much.” Perrie chimed in, making me roll my eyes. Of course he said that. Typical Niall, he spoils me so much.
“He gave us a card.” Eleanor explained with a devious smile.
“I am in no way surprised at all by that.” I said to them with a laugh. “So where are we going?”
“We are going to this place in the city that I looked up. That have tons of nice things from the best designers. Then if we don’t find anything there we can just walk around the city, well drive actually.” Perrie explained, looking at Neely. I heaved a sigh, a little frustrated and annoyed with the fact that I can’t just walk around the city like a normal person anymore. Instead, I have to be driven everywhere because of some crazy stalker.
We made it into the city in about thirty minutes, and before I knew it, I was shuffled into a designer boutique that smelled beautifully of lilacs somehow. It’s like they knew it’s my favorite scent.
“Hi, welcome to Jacklyn’s Boutique. Do you have an appointment?” A young woman asked politely from behind the front desk.
Perrie stepped out from behind me to give her an answer. “Hello, we have an appointment for 12:00 under Perrie Edwards.”
“Perfect, this way please.” The woman directed us to a large open room filled with a luxurious pink satin couch and a few armchairs. There was a pedestal in the center of the room and a three way mirror on one of the walls while another wall was completely covered with another mirror. The four of us took a seat.
“Jacklyn will be with you soon. Can I get you anything to drink?” The receptionist asked us. We put in our order for some of the wine that was offered, and Neely just got a water. Poor guy, he is going to have to sit through this entire appointment listening girl gab. A few minutes after our drinks were brought to us, a very sophisticated woman entered the room. She looked to be in her fifties, and had a very kind, yet posh vibe coming from her. She was wearing a black pantsuit with some killer heels and her died red hair reflected the shade of my own.
She introduced herself to us right away, shaking all of our hands. As she was introducing herself to everyone I could not help but notice how…..empty the store was, and it dawned on me that because of Perrie’s celebrity status, she was probably allowed to have the whole store empty for the appointment.
“Now, which one of you is in need of a dress?” She asked, her eyes scanning over the three girls.
“That’s me.” I raised my hand.
“Excellent. Do you have an idea of what you want to wear?”
“To be honest, not really. I’ve never been to a movie premiere before, and I didn’t even know I was coming here until this morning.” I explained to her.
“Hmmm, a clean slate. Follow me and we will go look around while they wait here.”
“That sounds great.” I said with a smile as I stood up off the couch. She led the way down a hallway into another just filled with never-ending racks of dresses and gowns.
“They’re organized by length, color and size.” Jacklyn started to explain after glancing at my wide-eyed glaze with a smile.
“There are a lot of dresses in here.” I stuttered, “How the heck am I going to find the right one?”
“Leave it me darling. I didn’t open up a gown store for no reason.” Jacklyn’s demeanor changed from entertained to on a mission. “So let’s get started.” She started making her way towards some racks on the other side of the warehouse. She stopped when she reached a certain rack that looked filled with many shorter length dresses. “So, this is your first movie premiere correct?” I nodded in agreement. “Then I recommend going with a shorter length dress that will make an impression. Show off your features without being over the top.” Her rambling actually made sense, and that was exactly what I wanted: to look good and not take any attention off Niall. The premiere is his and the lad’s night, and their accomplishments are what should be in the spotlight.
“Excellent. Now do you know what your date will be wearing? We can’t have you perfectly matching, but you certainly don’t want to clash.”
“Uh, Perrie said they’ll be wearing black for the most part I think.” I was trying not to sound nervous, but I couldn’t help but be a little intimidated. After all, this is my first real fancy event. Prom is nothing compared to walking down the red carpet in London with One Direction.
“Excellent, we don’t want anything flashy, so I recommend wearing a neutral color dress, or one with dull tones, that have a lot of detail. We want it to stand out, but also blend into the background. Do you know what colors the other ladies will be wearing?”
“Uhm, El is wearing a blue short one, and Perrie’s is long and black with a flower pattern on the top. I’m not sure about Liam’s date, we don’t know much about her really…”
“Hmmm, okay. Well let’s avoid anything like those, and start with these one here.” She started going through a rack of the short dresses picking up a few here and there. I followed behind and pulled a few that I liked as well, but I figured she knew better than I as to what I should wear, so I mostly just followed her down the line like a puppy dog. Finally, after skipping a large section of neon oranges, yellows, greens and blue, we got to the end of the rack.
“Okay…” She started, almost out of breath, her hands full of dresses. “Let’s bring these back so you can try them on. I just know the right one is somewhere in this pile.”
Well this is going to be a long day...
Gasps rang through the room as I entered with Jacklyn following closely behind. I stepped up on the pedestal to admire myself in the mirror.
“That’s the one.” Perrie said, a smile crossing her face. “It’s perfect, you look perfect.”
“Agreed, there is no doubt about it.” Eleanor chimed in.
“Neely?” I started, wanting to know what he thought. Neely and I were really close now, and it would be could to have a guy’s opinion on it. “What do you think?” The butterflies in my stomach were reeling just thinking about the premiere and Niall seeing me all dolled up. It didn’t compare to how I felt on prom, or any dance I’ve ever attended in my life.
He didn’t say anything at first, just kept looking up at me with a smile on his face, the same way my brothers looked at me on my prom day in my senior year. “Raegan…..Niall is going to love it. You look wonderful. It's bang on."
I heaved a sigh of relief. We had been at the shop for hours trying to find the right fit, and we had finally found it. After trying loads of dresses; red ones, black ones, cream ones, grey ones, one extremely sparkly one, extremely dull ones, too long and too short ones, we finally did it.
“Thank God.” I said, grateful for the end of the search. The girls giggled and Neely got up to give me a hug. Of everyone I know in this whole damn country, besides Niall of course, it’s Neely who is my absolute best friend. I love him like a brother. We know almost everything about each other and I would do anything for him. Morgan and Sarah are great and we hang out all the time, but it’s him who is always there for me. Even if he stops being my bodyguard, I know that we’ll still be friends.
The dress of choice was rather short and a little revealing, but remained classy and sophisticated. It had that sort of balance. It was an off white color with a lace overlay adorned with sparkles that revealed all the right parts of my body. My legs looked good it in it, as did my waist and my boobs. It was perfect.
“You’re going to look great.” Jacklyn encouraged, placing both her hands on my shoulders. “Ready to find some shoes?”
“Why not? We’ve already been here for over four hours.”
“That’s the spirit!” Her voice rang out through the parlor making us all laugh a little more. The girls and I followed her to a room of shoes. Tons of pairs lined the walls, all waiting for me to try them on.
“Now…” Jacklyn started. “I recommend getting some sandals in the same hue as the dress. This color works well with the completely matchy matchy thing. In fact…..these ones would match pretty well I think.” She walked over to a shelf filled with creamy colored shoes, and immediately one pair stood out to me. Luckily, that was the pair she pulled off the shelf.
“Try these on. They might be a bit big on you, but I’m sure we have your size out back.”
They were rather tall and looked hard to walk in, but they were gorgeous nonetheless. They were almost all cream color with black shiny material accentuating the heel, with an open peep toe.
“I think those would look really sharp.” Eleanor said, admiring the shoes as I put them on.
“I agree. If you wore some black sparkly bracelets and dangly black earrings it would ties it all together perfectly.”
I stood up in them and walked back into the viewing room to take in the outfit as whole. The girls and Jacklyn followed me. I stood up to the pedestal to admire the shoes with the dress.
“I think they’re perfect. I’m sold.” I said, a huge smile crossing my face.
“Yaaaay!” The girls screamed at the same time. They started jumping up and down and I joined in once I got the shoes back off, making Jacklyn chuckle.
“I’m going to find these in your size. 6 and a half right?”
“Yep!” I told her excitedly.
“When I return we can get you out of that dress and sent home with you.”
“That would be lovely. Thank you so much.”
“Anytime darling.” With that she stepped out of the room in search of the shoes.
“Quick Raegan, let’s take a picture to send to the boys.” Eleanor said, whipping out her phones.
“Selfie time!” Perrie squealed getting all excited. The three of us wrapped our arms around each other and took a few photos, some silly and some just classy and pretty.
Within a few minutes, Jacklyn returned with my shoes and helped me out of the dress. Neely went to get the car, and I just hung out in the front of the store while Perrie took care of paying for the dress, with Niall’s money of course. I would definitely be calling him later and thanking him big time. That dress was certainly not the most expensive one in the store, but I knew it wasn’t the cheapest either.
“Okay, you should be all set. Take good care of it now.” Jacklyn said to me as she handed me the garment. It was in one of those hanging garment bags, and the shoes were tucked carefully in their box.
“Thank you so much. It’s been a pleasure.” I told her.
“Anytime dear.” She said with a nice smile. “Come again!”
The girls and I made our way out onto the street where the car was awaiting us. Neely hopped out of the driver’s side and ushered us into the car. He seemed suddenly nervous or worried about something.
“Neely what’s wrong?” I asked him as soon as we were in the car. “Jake was hanging around when I went to get the car. He was watching from across the street.”
“What?” I asked him as the chills ran down my spine.
“I’m serious. So we’re going to take a route different back.” Neely explained, giving me a heartfelt look.
“Okay….” I mumbled. Perrie and El exchanged looks with each other before El spoke up.
“I really hope that bastard gets caught.” She said with a furrowed brow, making me chuckle.
“Thanks El.” I couldn’t help but smile. Despite the Jake sighting, it had been a wonderful day.
