I'm coming for her.
Chills ran down my spine as I read the text again. Three days ago, Jake managed to find out my phone number and send me that, and since then he's been tormenting me relentlessly, to the point where Reagan must think I'm just as psychotic as he is. Ever since that first text, I've been even more overprotective than usual, calling her morning and night, and getting constant updates from Neely. It's absurd I know, but I'm terrified he might actually come take her away, or seriously hurt her somehow. Which is why I'm taking her away for the long weekend, out of Dublin where I know she's safe with me. Besides, I know she's been itching to get out the city for a while and explore some other parts of the country. So I planned out the entire long weekend, just me and her. No body guards, no paps, no fans. Just me and her, on a long romantic weekend. Raegan happily agreed when I called her about it two days ago. She's already packed and everything, all we have left to do is actually is leave.
"Dude, you've got to stop thinking so hard. You'll kill yourself." Neely said chuckling at me. We were sitting outside in the courtyard at Trinity, waiting for Raegan to get out of class.
"Can't help it. I've got a lot on my mind." I told him.
"I understand. You've got a lot going on. But at least you get a weekend with your girl right?"
I smiled at the thought. "Yeah, I can't wait."
"Are going to tell her why you're whisking her away?" He asked me, raising an eyebrow.
"No. It will only stress her out. If she asks I'll be honest, but I'm not going to bring it up."
"Yeah, she'd freak if she knew this douchebag is texting you now."
"Tell me about it. How has she been holding up since..." My words trailed as I mentally cringed at my own thoughts.
"The concussion thing?" He asked finishing my sentence for me.
"Yeah that. She tells me she's okay, but I know she's playing it down. Doesn't want me to worry about her when I'm away you know?" It's been a month since I've seen Raegan, and I've worried about her more and more each day that we've been apart. I wish I could just take her with me on tour, something the guys and I considered asking her, but I knew she would say no. They were all for it, in fact they can't get enough of her. Her and them always talk on the phone and skype too. But, there is no way in hell she would leave school to come along with us. Her education is so important to her, and I love that about her.
"She's been alright. She worries a lot, especially at night. I hear her crying sometimes from down the hall." Yikes. I hated to think about Rae having nightmares and crying without me to soothe her back to sleep. I heaved a sigh.
"She has nightmares a lot." I told him. "She told me she has since she was a kid."
"You know, sometimes she talks in her sleep too. I hear your name a lot." He said chuckling. That made me smile. Right then, people started piling out of the old building and started looking out for her. Eventually I saw her red hair, standing out in the crowd and making its way over to Neely and I. As she got closer I stood up and pulled her in for a hug, wrapping both my arms around her head and neck, pulling her into my chest as she wrapped her arms around me. I kissed the top of her head, and I could feel her smile.
"I've missed you." She said looking up at me. I kissed her again before answering her.
"I've missed you too."
"Wait a sec....." She was looking at me with her head tilted to one said, furrowing her eyebrows. I just kept grinning at her, playing it up. I hadn't told her yet......
"Your braces......they're gone." She said looking a little shocked.
"Is my smile still cute?" I asked her sarcastically. She kissed me before answering.
"I hate to rush this moment..." Neely interrupted, half joking, half not. "....But I definitely just saw Jake hoof his way around the corner over there, so we should probably head out." I felt Raegan tense up in my arms, but I remained calm, for her. Inside I was actually resisting the urge to go kick his ass.
"Let's go then." I said kissing her forehead then grabbing her hand. We followed Neely to the car and left.
--Raegan's Point of View--
I couldn't be more excited for the long and romantic weekend Niall was treating me to. I still hadn't had much opportunity to go any further than Dublin, except when I went to Westmeath with Niall for Greg's wedding, so I was really looking forward to leaving the city. I was also excited to be with Niall for the entire long weekend, just him and I. We hadn't seen each other for a month and it was a relief to be able to cuddle with him, tease him, joke around with him, hug him and kiss him.
Thanks to some Nutritional Science and Health convention going on this week, all nutrition, biology, and nursing classes were canceled for the rest of the week, meaning I had the whole weekend to be with Niall, having asked Sarah and Morgan to cover my shifts for me at the cafe.
"Are you sure you don't mind staying here until we get back?" Niall said to my bodyguard. "Because if you want the time off we're totally cool with that."
"No worries. I talked to Paul this morning and he thinks it would be best if I stayed and kept an eye on the place."
"Well then we should probably listen because Paul's always right." Niall said.
"I agree." I chimed in. "And as usual, eat whatever you want, do whatever you want. You live here now too." I told Neely, giving him a smile. He has been an excellent bodyguard, and I would now consider him a friend. My apology in the kitchen made things way more comfortable for the both of us, and ever since he took care of me with my concussion, we've been getting closer. I most certainly trust him with my life.
"Thanks. Enjoy your weekend. Both of you." He said to Niall and I, smiling back at us.
"Ready love?" Niall said, grabbing my hand in one of his, my little suitcase in the other.
"Bye Neely." I said giving him a wave as Niall shut my flat door behind me.
"So where are we going first?" I asked him as we stepped in the lift.
"Well, I thought we could head out to my mums for a night and spend some time with the family."
"That sounds lovely." I said smiling. I absolutely adore Niall's family. "Keep going."
"Then tomorrow morning, we're going to be leaving for this little town call Doolin. It's in County Clare, right on the water and right by a lot of cool stuff we can do, and the drive out there alone is beautiful."
"And you planned this whole weekend all by yourself?" I asked him, rather impressed at the thought he put into it.
"Yep." He said kissing my temple before the elevator doors opened up to the lobby. He we went outside to the private lot and hopped in the Range Rover that I loved so much.
We were finally here, in Edgeworthstown, where Niall's mom Maura and his stepdad Chris live. It didn't take us too long to get there considering its right off the N4. As I opened the door, I could hear Maura coming down her front steps to greet us.
"Oh Raegan dear how are you?" She asked me, pulling me into a hug.
"I'm great. It's so good to see you." I said to her smiling and hugging her back as Niall came up behind me.
"I'm so glad you're here." Maura said as she pulled Niall into a hug. "You too look as cute as ever."
"Thanks Mum." He said hugging her back.
"Have you eaten?" She asked looking at the two of us.
"Nope." Niall said. "We skipped lunch to get here sooner."
"Well then why don't you bring your things upstairs and I'll make some sandwiches."
"That sounds lovely." I told her, smiling at the thought of filling my belly as we followed her into the house. I followed Niall upstairs to his room. His bedroom at his mums looks basically the same as the one at his dads. The walls are just a different color, and the posters are different. But it's still a typical bedroom of a nineteen year old. He put our suitcases beside his dresser and tossed our bags next to his bed before sinking into his bean bag and pulling me in to sit on his lap. I curled up into him, resting my head in the crook of his neck while he had one arm wrapped under my legs and another around my shoulder.
"I've missed this." He said quietly before kissing my forehead.
"Me too." I said, a sad smile gracing my lips. The two of us just sat there for a few minutes, at complete peace with everything for the moment. I wondered what Niall was thinking as we sat there together. Was he thinking about the mess we're leaving behind in the city? Was he thinking about next time we'll see each other? Because I had been thinking about all those things in the last few days.
"You know, I can feel your stomach growling." He said, breaking the silence. "The old lady is probably done with the sandwiches."
"I am pretty hungry." With that he stood up and scooped me up in his arms bridal style, carrying me all the way to the kitchen to the sound of my giggles. Maura looked up at us as we walked into the kitchen and smiled.
"So Raegan," She started as Niall pulled out a chair for me. "How have you been dear?" As Niall sat down next to me she placed two plates of grilled ham and cheese sandwiches in front of us along with some fruit punch.
"I've been well. Very busy with class, but well. How have you been?" I asked her before taking a bite.
"I've been well myself. Now that all the wedding business is over I can relax again. Has Niall told you the big news?"
"Big news?" I looked at him and he raised his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders. He could be so forgetful sometimes.
"Greg and Denise are having a boy!" Maura said cheerily. "We just found out! I told Niall yesterday but apparently he's forgotten."
"Oh yeah!" Niall exclaimed before reaching for the second half of his sandwich. "I meant to tell you but I forgot." He said looking at me. I rolled my eyes at him and returned my attention to Maura.
"That's awesome though. Do they have any names picked out?" I asked her before taking another bite, not wanting to talk with my mouth full.
"They're not really sure yet."
"They should name him Niall Jr." Niall said jokingly, making Maura and I laugh.
"I've already got one Niall, I don't know if I could do with another." She joked back at him.
"I'm telling you. It's the best name around." He said taking a sip of his fruit punch and wiggling his eyebrows at his mum.
"Sure it is honey." Maura said sarcastically sweet to him patting his cheek. "What are you two doing after lunch?"
"I thought maybe we could go into town and just walk around a bit."
"That sounds like fun. Make sure you grab a jumper or something. It's a bit breezy out there."
"Thanks mum." We finished our sandwiches rather quickly even though Niall had seconds. "Ready babe?" He asked, grabbing our plates and glasses and putting them in the sink.
"Yep." I gave him a goofy smile which made him roll his eyes at me. Him and I are always making silly faces at each other. "Thanks for lunch Maura."
"Anytime dear. Keep him in line while you're out will you?"
"I always do." I told her as Niall grabbed my hand to go back upstairs and get our coats. I pulled my north face fleece jacket from my little suitcase and Niall grabbed a blue hoodie to wear over his tee. He snagged the keys off the desk where he threw them and we headed out the door.
"Hey wait, can we go in here?" I asked Niall, tugging at his hand.
"Sure." He said holding the door open to an antique shop. For my entire life I've been fascinated by antique items and the stories they tell. As a kid, my mom would always take me around with her when she went looking for new things to put in her stores. Each item has a tale of where its been, who owned it in the past, and why it was important to that person. The history that can follow an item can be fascinating.
As we walked in an elderly woman greeted us as the counter with the cheeriest smile I've ever seen, it was rather cute. Niall and I started walking through the aisles admiring the assortment of items. There were loads of old books, classics like Dracula and many books by James Joyce littered the shelves. Figurines were spread across different tables. The walls were adorned with different shelves, clocks, paintings and posters, all of them for sale.
"Hey babe look at this." Niall said from a little way down the aisle. I set down the parlor clock I was looking at and headed over to what he was looking at. He had a pocket watch in his hand and was fiddling with the chain. The letter "N" was engraved on the front of it. "Could you see me walking around with this?" He asked me jokingly swinging it around.
"Sure you old chap." I said teasing him as I moved on further. "Ooooh but look at this ring." In a case right down the row was a collection of rings, and one immediately caught my eyes. The band was gold, and The center of the ring had a lighter color stone surrounded by what looked to be real diamonds. If I had to guess, I would say the stone was Opal, and the pastel mix of colors in it were gorgeous. The diamonds surrounding the stone were beautiful as well, sparkling and shiny as could be, like Niall's eyes. I absolutely loved the ring. "It's beautiful."
"You like that one?" He asked as he admired it.
"It's perfect. I like the stone in the Middlesbrough, don't you?"
"Yeah the colors are nice." He said giving my shoulder a squeeze before moving on to the next aisle to keep looking around. I left the case of rings and made my way around to the next aisle, losing sight of Niall. The two of us kept roaming on our own for a while, admiring different things that caught our eye. I stopped to look at an old music box, when I heard him walk up behind me. He had a small white plastic bag in his hand.
"Did you actually buy that pocket watch?" I asked him, a smile spreading across my face. Typical Niall, sometimes he can't resist buying novelty items like that. Sometimes on the phone he'll go on forever about the touristy things he buys on tour. I could only imagine what he would buy over in the States.
"No, but I did buy this." He reached in the bag and pulled out a little box. A box small big enough for a ring......... for the ring.
"You did not." I said, astounded. That ring probably cost a lot of money, and he just bought it for no reason.
"I did too." He said smiling at me, his eyes shining like they always do when he's happy. He pulled the ring out of the little box and grabbed my right hand.
"You shouldn't have." My words barely audible.
"But I should have." He said to me, still grinning. He slid the ring on my finger, and it fit perfectly. It was a little heavier than other rings I've owned before, probably because it's so beautifully adorned with diamonds. It probably cost a lot of money.
"It's so beautiful." I said admiring it as it sparkled in the light of the antique shop.
"I know you are." Niall said to me cheesily. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in for soft and sweet kiss as he snaked his arms around my waist.
"It must have cost a fortune. You spoil me way too much."
"You deserve the best. So get used to it." He said chuckling. "Besides, don't most girls like to be spoiled?"
"Yes, but I still feel bad sometimes."
"Well don't. You never ask for anything in return for all the bullshit I put you through. The least I can do is buy you a ring."
"But really though. You don't have to spoil me to keep me around. I love being with you. I don't care about all the hard stuff we deal with."
"Babe." He said, giving me a half serious, half funny look. "I will always spoil you and treat you and pay for things because that's the kind of guy I am. I always will be."
"Thank you." I practically whispered before kissing him again.
"Anything for you my love." He leaned in for another kiss, keeping it soft and slow. Once he pulled away, he grabbed my hand and led the way out of the shop, waving at the elderly woman as the door closed behind us.
We continued walking down the street hand in hand, the ring continuously sparkling in the corner of my eye, making me smile every time I looked at it. A little ways down we went in a bookstore, and after that a florist shop followed by an art store. By the time we finished exploring the many paintings in the art store, I could tell Niall was gummin' for a pint, and so was I.
"You wanna grab a pint in the next pub?" I asked him.
"I thought you'd never ask." He said giving my hand a squeeze and kissing my temple. We walked a little ways until we made it to a pub called Jack's Cornerhouse. Niall held the door open for me and we grabbed a seat at the bar. A football game was on the TV while some traditional Irish folk music was playing from some speakers in the corner. The place wasn't too crowded, but it wasn't empty either. An assortment of people were scattered around the place, many of them watching the game.
"Can I help you?" The bartender asked us. "I'll have a Heineken please." Normally Guinness is my draught beer of choice, but today I decided to keep it light.
"I'll have a Guinness please." Niall told him, smirking at me. The bartender handed us our pints then let us be.
"How was town?" Chris asked Niall and I as we sat down at the table for dinner. She had spent much of the day cooking tonight's dinner and it smelled amazing. We would be having shepard's pie, along with some soda bread, and ice cream for dessert.
"It was good. We went a lot of places." Niall said before taking a bite of his bread.
"Raegan darling where in the world did you get that beautiful ring?" Maura asked as she scooped some shepard's pie onto her plate.
"Actually Niall got it for me today in the antique shop." I told her, giving his leg a squeeze under the table.
"Well it's lovely." She said smiling at me. "Did you guys do anything else while you were out?"
"Not really. We just hung around town and grabbed a couple of pints at the Cornerhouse." Niall explained.
"Sounds like a good time." Chris chimed in. The four of us continued to make our way through dinner, chatting along. The meal tasted just as good as it smelled and by the time afters made their way to the table, I was stuffed. Despite eating twice as much as me, Niall still managed to have seconds on the ice cream, and finish mine as well.
"I'm stuffed." He said finally, leaning back in his chair and putting his hand on his stomach. "That was good mum."
"I'm glad you liked it." She said standing up to start clearing the table.
"Do you want any help cleaning?" I asked her.
"No thanks. You two go ahead."
Niall looked over at me and smiled before standing up. Following his lead we made our way through the living room and up the stairs to his room.
"You wanna watch a movie? I don't know if I can do much more after that meal." He said looking over at me, still rubbing his stomach.
"Agreed." I told him, grinning just as much as him. As we changed into our pajamas I couldn't help but admire Niall's body. He was only wearing his boxers again. Once we picked the movie, Titanic, we climbed under the covers of his bed where it was warm and toasty. I laid my head on Niall's bare chest, wrapping my arm around his torso. He started rubbing circles on my back, and I was completely content. Within moments of the movie starting, my eyes started to droop, and soon enough my dreams came and took me away.
I awoke to feeling of Niall's lips kissing me all over. He started with my cheek and made his way down my neck and to my belly button as my eyes started flickering open.
"Good morning." I said, giggling as he continued to tickle me with his lips. My entire body was tingling at his touch. The last few days things have been extra lovey with us.
"Good morning beautiful." He made his way back up to my lips, kissing them soft and slow.
"I could get used to waking up like this." I told him, a small smile gracing my lips.
"Me too love. Me too." He said smiling before kissing me again.
"What time do we have to leave here?"
"I was thinking around eleven."
"What time is it now?"
"Eight." He answered before grabbing my hand and bringing it to his lips. One thing I love about Niall is the way he likes to touch and kiss every part of me, as if my body is some kind of work of art sculpted by the gods or something. He makes me feel beautiful when he runs his hands across my legs, or kisses my nose, or when he cheekily squeezes my bum when no one is looking.
"Plenty of time..." I said biting my lip, before leaning in to kiss his lips again. "...to do this." I kissed him again while running my hands through his messy blonde hair. His brown roots were creeping back in which made him even more cute. I would love Niall's hair blonde or brown.
I went to go kiss Niall again when our stomachs both growled very loudly at the same time, making us both laugh. I swear, we are in tune to each other on a whole other level.
"We should probably get some food."
"I agree." I told him smiling. We climbed out from underneath the covers and made our way downstairs. The delightful smell of waffles greeting us as we came around the corner.
"Morning kids." Maura greeted us. "Waffles will be ready in a few. " She said pouring us both some OJ. Maura is a lovely host, and never lets guests do anything that she can do herself. "What time are you leaving?"
"Around eleven." Niall answered her. "I'm not in the mood to rush around this morning." As he finished his sentence, his phone went off. As he unlocked the screen, and opened what I assumed to be a text, and his entire demeanor changed for a split second. In a quick moment, an expression of horror crossed his face as he read whatever was on the screen. His jaw clenched and he opened his eyes wide.
"What's wrong?" I asked him after Maura went to get some maple syrup as the last waffle cooked.
"What? Nothing's wrong."
"But you just got this scary weird look on your face for no reason."
He heaved a sigh, and I could tell he was thinking something out in that brain of his. "We'll talk about it later okay?" He asked me giving my hand a squeeze. "But maybe we should leave a little earlier."
"Okay......" I was very confused at what he could be talking about. It's not often Niall gets freaked out anything, and I couldn't imagine what would have made him act like that. Just a minute ago he wanted to take his time, and now he was antsy to get going. It had me a little worried.
"Waffles are ready." Maura said smiling, kissing the top of me and Niall's heads as she came back around the corner. Niall stood up and grabbed me a plate along with one for himself. Temporarily forgetting about whatever had given Niall the creeps, the three of us ate our home made breakfast in peace.
"Wait a sec. So you're telling me that Jake has been texting you too?" I asked him, shocked. We were finally talking about what happened over breakfast, and I couldn't believe it.
"Yes. It just started a few days ago." Niall said to me seriously.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I'm sorry. I just didn't want to stress you. I was planning on telling you when we got back to Dublin." I heaved a sigh. I wasn't mad at him or anything, just worried that Jake would never go away. It's a never ending thing with him, he's relentless.
"That's okay." I told him, giving a small smile. We were on our way to Doolin, a small town in county Clare. The little town is known as the traditional music capital of the country, and I couldn't wait to get there. There's tons to do around the place, and I looked forward to exploring everything I possibly could with Niall. He already promised me would could go see The Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, The Doolin Cave, and The Aran Islands, which are all nearby attractions that I've wanted to go to for ages. He even told me we could go ride some horses if I wanted, something I never expected to hear come out of his mouth. I don't even know if Niall's ever been on a horse before. He also wants to play a round of golf with me, something I've never done in my life. It should be interesting....
We would be staying in a romantic little Bed & Breakfast called Ashbrook Lodge, nestled in the heart of the small town. I'd been looking at the brochure for the last twenty minutes. The best part of it all is that it would be just Niall and I the whole time.
"What's he been saying?" I asked, curious as to what Jake could be texting him.
"Well he told me he was 'coming for you' and the one this morning said 'you can run, but you can't hide.' Creepy right?" Chills ran down my spine at his words. I probably would have freaked out even more if I didn't feel safer with Niall. Something about him can usually put me at ease.
"Very.....how much longer until we get there?" I asked him, trying to forget about Jake. He chuckled at me.
"Twenty minutes less than when you asked me last." I gave him look, making him laugh again. "An hour and a half."
"Thank you." I said sticking my tongue out at him. As we continued to drive through the rolling green hills, I found it easy to forget about my troubles waiting for me back in the city. The seemingly endless drive soothed me as I admired the scenery around us, happy as could be. This vacation with Niall is just what I needed.
"Wow, it's beautiful here." I was in awe at the beauty of the small town. The place just radiated good energy, and the coast was a wonderful sight to see. The ocean looked never ending in all its blue glory. Little cottages were scattered across the green hills and stone walls separated the pastures filled with sheep and cows. As we drove through the town, the little shops were all painted different colors, and many of them had authentic thatched roofs, something you don't see in the city. The town was covered in multiple signs pointing all different directions, which was humorous because they weren't really helpful at all because there were so many.
Niall just looked over and smiled at me for a second as we continued to drive. I always wonder what he's thinking when he does that. He'll just look and smile, making me curious about what could be running through his head.
As we pulled up to the little bed and breakfast I immediately loved it. The outside was painted a lovely pink peachy orange color, and parts of the house had stone walls. The grass all around was perfectly trimmed and the black roof perfectly matched the window frames. The whole place was overlooking Galway Bay, and it was a gorgeous view.
"Apparently, this place was rated four stars, which is pretty good right?" Niall said as he shut the car off, just looking at me with a small smile. I love that smile, I love all his different smiles.
"That's really good for a B&B. Well done smarty pants." I told him sarcastically before leaning out of my seat to peck him on the lips. Smiling into the kiss I pulled away and opened my door, ready to see our room already, hoping that it would be as nice as the outside of the house. Niall tried to grab my suitcase out of the boot along with his, but I beat him to it. I swear, one of these days he just might spoil me rotten with all his gentlemanly ways.
He grabbed my hand with his free one and led the way inside the house.
"Why hello there." Said a middle aged woman at a table in the foyer as we walked in. She stood up to shake our hands. "My name is Olwyn, it's a pleasure to meet you." She seemed very friendly, and her accent was really strong.
"Nice to meet you as well." Niall said to her, and I said the same as she shook my hand.
"Now are you the Horan party of two?" She asked us, flipping through a little reservation book on the desk.
"Yep." Niall said, smiling at me again. He seemed so relaxed and carefree now that he confessed to me about Jake texting him. I think we were both putting extra effort into forgetting about it for the time being.
"Lovely. I'll show you to your room." She stood up and we followed her up the stairs to our room. She opened the door for us and we followed her in. "So this is your room for your stay here. You have your own bathroom of course, and a wonderful view of the bay." She said smiling at us. "I'll leave you both to get settled in. If you have any questions at all come and find me and I'll help you out the best I can." With that she left the room, closing the door behind her.
"Do you like it?" Niall asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me close.
"I love it."
"And I love you." He said before kissing me soft and slow, making every part of my body buzz with lust for him. His kisses are always extraordinary and always leave me wanting more. "So what would you like to do first? We've got the rest of today, then another three full days after that. Plenty of time to do all the things you want." He said pecking my lips again, his arms still wrapped around my waist.
"How about today we just go down to the village and walk around? We can check out the pubs and maybe catch some music? We could probably just walk there."
