Don't forget Where You Belong

Raegan Moynihan is no fashion model. She isn't famous or incredibly talented. She's just an ordinary college girl, new to Dublin.

Niall Horan is a world famous superstar. He's talented, can sing, play the guitar, and make girls swoon just by looking at them.

They find love in each other when they least expect it, then lose it all in a moment.

It's incredible how it only takes a second to almost lose the person you love more than anything, but, in the end, there's always a way to get through the misery and find the shining light of hope.

This story is a Niall Horan fan fiction about getting through it all to be with the person who means everything. Fame, stalkers, and oceans can't come between two people who are destined to be together.

30. Chapter 30 - The wedding

"Rae baby, we're here." I said quietly rubbing her shoulder from the drivers side as I pulled into the driveway of the house. She had slept for most of the drive, giving her a good hour long nap. We would be staying at Dad's tonight, then tomorrow I would go to the church with Greg and the other groomsmen while Raegan would probably be scooped up by my Nan and Mum when we would stop over at her place in the morning. I couldn't be more excited for her to meet my family. I knew they would love her, and it felt good to be back home for a couple of days. I hadn't seen my family in a while and it would great to see everyone tomorrow, especially the distant members who I don't get to see as much.

"Hmmm?" She said looking up and rubbing her eyes.

"We're here."

"Oh." Was all she said, a small sleepy smile gracing her lips. I put the car in park, but didn't get out right away, just admiring her as she unbuckled.

"What are you looking at?" She asked me, still smiling, leaning her head on the window as she looked back at me.

"You." The color red started spreading across her cheeks.

"I'm nervous." She said, her blue eyes looking right into mine.

"Don't be. They're going to love you." I told her, still massaging her shoulder.

"Were you this nervous when you met my family?"

"Are you kidding? Of course I was. I had no clue how your family would feel about me. I was terrified that Briley or Connor might kill me or something." I told her, starting to ramble. "That's a lot of pressure you know." She just smiled wide at me and leaned in for a kiss, putting both her hands on my cheeks.

"I love you." She whispered before kissing me again, leaving a trail down my jaw and neck with little kisses. If there's one thing Raegan is good at, it's turning me on, even when she isn't trying. She kept kissing me all over making her way back to my lips.

"As much as..." She started kissing me again. "...I wish we..." Kiss. "....could do this..." Kiss. "..all day..." Kiss.  "...we should..." Kiss. "...probably..." Kiss. "....get..." Kiss. "...inside..." Kiss.  I told her, trying not to get lost in her lips completely.

"You're probably right." She said giggling. "Your Dad's probably wondering what we're doing out here." She kissed me once more then leaned back in her seat, tucking her phone into the pocket of her jeans. I jumped out of the drivers side and went to grab our bags from the back while Raegan climbed out of her side. She went to grab her bag, but of course I didn't let her, instead throwing both bags over my shoulder as she rolled her eyes at me. I grabbed her hand and we started up the pathway to the front door. It was unlocked and as I stepped over the threshold I immediately heard my Dad's booming voice coming through the kitchen.

"Aaaah, this must be the lovely Raegan!" He said coming around the corner pulling her in for a hug which she happily returned. "It's so good to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too." She said beaming.

"You didn't do her justice on the phone son." He said to me as he gave me a hug.

"Thanks Dad." I said as my cheeks started to heat up, making Raegan smirk and blush at the same time.

"Why don't you guys bring your stuff upstairs and get settled then come down for dinner. Aoife's cooking dinner tonight."  I could smell the food from the kitchen, making my stomach growl. Aoife is my Dad's girlfriend and an amazing cook.

"Sounds good." I said, grabbing Rae's hand and leading the way upstairs to my room. My Dad's house isn't huge but isn't tiny either. For being a bachelor for most of his life he's managed to decorate the house pretty well, and I loved living here as a kid. Even when I was a teenager me and him got along well and never really had any issues.

"I love this house." Raegan said as I opened my bedroom door. Another thing I've come to learn about her is that she's fascinated by other people's homes, and I know that when she gets older she wants the most beautiful house she can get her hands on.

"Yeah it's pretty nice. I really like it here."

"So this is your room huh?"

"Yep. Nothing special really." My room was painted a dark green and covered in posters of the many bands that I used to like back in school. There was a bed, a dresser, a desk and an empty guitar stand in the corner, where my very first guitar used to sit. Now it comes with me on tour.

"It's cute. I can picture the little sixteen year old you just hanging out in here." She sat on the bed, spread out across the comforter, and closed her eyes. She looked peaceful, and happy. "I like it here already. Your Dad seems really nice." Her words made my heart swell. I love my hometown more than anywhere else on the planet, and the fact that Raegan already felt at home made me happy.

"Yeah he's great." I told her, climbing onto the bed, lying next her and closing my eyes. I knew we shouldn't get comfortable because we would have to go back downstairs for dinner in a few minutes, but I could resist the urge to just relax for a minute. Tomorrow would be very hectic from morning to night. Besides, Rae looked so peaceful just lying on my bed, like she didn't have a worry in the world. It reminded me of when I went to America with her and we laid on her bed before I had to go to the airport. I smiled at the memory. That's when I told her I loved her after only been together about a week. Call it crazy, but I still feel the same way today as I did then. I love her.

"Hey lovebirds! Dinner is ready!" My Dad yelled up the stairs, making Raegan giggle and making me blush. I should have seen it coming. My Dad would be all over embarrassing me until we leave. Raegan hopped off the bed right as her stomach started growling, which made me laugh.

"Come on. You heard the man. Get up!" She said teasingly to me since I didn't even move an inch. I opened my eyes to see her standing there with her hands on her hips, a smile on her face.

"Too tired." I said smirking.

"Too tired my butt. Come on!" She said laughing at the end of her sentence.

"Make me." I said jokingly back to her.

"If you don't get up I'm not going to kiss you for the rest of the night." She teased. Damn, that'll work every time. Her kisses are addicting. I shot straight up, planting my feet on the ground and kissing her smack on the mouth.

"Well played." I said after pulling away. Right then my stomach growled loudly making us both laugh. "Race you to the kitchen?" I asked her, raising an eyebrow.

"You're on." She took off giggling all the way down the staircase as I chased after her.

"Morning bud. Sleep well?" My Dad asked as I walked into the kitchen to get some tea. It was six in the morning, much earlier than my usual wake up time. While Rae passed out the minute she laid her head on the pillow, I had a harder time of falling asleep. In fact, she was still sleeping. We didn't have to get up for a while, so I decided to let her sleep instead of waking her so early.

"Eh not really. I had a lot on my mind." I told him.

"What about?" He asked me, placing a mug in front of me as I sat down at the breakfast table.

"Raegan. She's got my mind buzzin'." I told him, swirling my tea around.

"I can see why. She's quite the young lady." He said smiling. Last night's dinner was fantastic. Raegan fit right in with my Dad, Aoife and I. My Dad had her cracking up the whole time, filling the dining room with her laughter throughout the meal. It seemed like he liked her just fine, and they got along really well.

"Yeah she's something alright." I said chuckling.

"So what were you thinking so hard about?"

"Just thinking about her. And the future."

"Do you see a future with her?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I do." I started, a grin breaking through my expression. "I really do."

"So do I."

"You do?"

"Can I give you some advice?"

"Course." I told him, curious about what he was going to say.

"I told Greg the same thing when him and Denise started to get serious and now I'm going to tell you. Make sure you tell her how much you love her every day. If you truly love Raegan, which I know you do, don't ever let her forget it. Keep doing all those little things you do now, for as long as you're together. Keep surprising her if that's what she loves so much. Just make sure she knows you love her every day somehow. Make sure you tell her how beautiful she is, and don't stop treating her just because you've been together for a while. There are going to be times when you'll fight and times when things will get rough, but as long as she knows how much you love her, in the end, everything will work out for the both of you."

"Thanks Dad." I stood up and gave him a hug, the two of us squeezing each other tight as he patted my back.

"Now, I'm making some rashers and eggs if you want to go wake her up." He said walking over to the fridge. "No rush though."

I ran upstairs to go wake Raegan up. It was about six thirty and we had to be out of here by eight to get to my Mums house. I opened the door to find Raegan clutching a pillow in her arms as she laid on her side. She had a little smile on her face. She smiled a lot in her sleep. I sat down on the bed and starting running my hand through her hair. That's usually how I wake her up now.

"Time to get up sleeping beauty." I said quietly. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked up at me with those big blue eyes.

"Do I have to?"

"Unless you want to miss the wedding then yes." I told her chuckling.

"Right." She pulled the comforter off and started getting up, slowly but surely. She put her hair up then looked over at me, smiling.

"What are you smiling about?" I asked her.

"I'm just happy. That's all" She said leaning her head on my shoulder as I gave her leg a squeeze.

"You ready for breakfast?"

"Yep. I'm starved." She said.

"Well then let's go." I said grinning back at her.

"What's wrong love?" She looked a little freaked out by something.

"Again?" I asked her chuckling to myself.

"Yes again."

"Well don't be nervous. My Mum and Nan are going to love you. and so will Greg, and so will Denise and so will everyone else because you're the best thing that's ever happened to me got it?" I told her sternly looking right at her even though I should have had my eyes on the road.

"You really think I'm the best thing that's ever happened to you?" She asked me, getting a sappy look on her face. It felt good knowing I put it there.

"Yes I do. If you haven't realized it yet, you're kind of stuck with me." She unbuckled herself from the seat belt, kissed my cheek, then buckled herself back in.

"Do you think you'll feel comfortable going with the girls today?" I asked her. Basically, I was on my way to my mums so I could stop in say hello to everyone, then Greg and I would be leaving and meeting up with the rest of the groomsmen and my Dad at the church to start getting ready. While I would be with the men Raegan would be with the girls all day. This means she's going to be hanging out with my Mum, my Nan, Denise, Denise's mum, and the rest of the bridal party.

"Yeah it'll be fine. Besides, I can't wait to see how Denise is going to do her hair and her nails and just everything. I'm excited." She started gushing. It always amazes me how she girly she could be, despite growing up with four brothers.

"Whatever you say love." I wasn't too worried about it. I knew Raegan would fit right in, no problem.

Within a few minutes we arrived at my moms house, and cars were already lining the driveway. I hopped out and opened the door for Rae, grabbed her hand and led the way in. She hadn't put on her wedding outfit on yet, it was tucked away in her bag, which I of course carried in for her.

"Raegan!" Was the only thing I heard being yelled by all the girls as I opened the front door. The first face I saw was my Mums.

"It's so nice to finally meet you!" My mum said pulling Raegan in for a hug. "You are pretty aren't you?"

"Thank you. It's so nice to meet you finally." Raegan said graciously.

"Well we should probably introduce you to everyone since you'll be spending the day with us." My mum took Raegan's hand in hers and started walking away.

"Uh Mum! Did you forget about me?" I said pointing to myself giving her a goofy grin.

"Oh, right. Greg's upstairs honey." She told me dragging Raegan with her.

I ran upstairs to find Greg hanging out in his old bedroom, just looking around.

"Whats up brother?" I said grinning as I walked in.

"It's about time I see your face again." He said with a smile as he pulled me in for a hug. "We've miss you around here."

"I missed it too. How're you feeling?"

"Eh, right now I'm pretty nervous. But I know once I see Denise coming down the aisle it'll all be good."

"Can't wait."

"Where's the girl we've all heard so much about?" He asked me, raising an eyebrow. "She didn't find out how much of a dork you are yet?"

"Ha ha." I said sarcastically. "You'll probably have to meet her later, mum just scooped her up."

"Got it. Well now that you're here we can head out."

"Sounds good." I followed him out of his bedroom and we left for the church.

I shut the bathroom door behind me, grateful for a moment alone as the guilt consumed me. I've ruined the wedding and it's barely started. This day is supposed to be about Greg and Denise, but instead its turning into a shit show with fans crashing the whole thing the best way they can. As we pulled up to the church, they had the place surrounded, we could barely get the car through the crowds just to park. Girls started screaming my name and taking photos. Security had to push them back as they reached for all the groomsmen, including myself. The screaming girls would ruin one of the most important moments in my brother's life, and it would be all my fault.

Overwhelming guilt took over as I rested my head in my hands and started to tear up. I've never been a cryer, but I couldn't help it. For the first time in my life, the fame felt more like a burden than a blessing. I sat down on the toilet lid, when I heard the voice of an angel calling my name.

"Niall? Are you down here?" I could hear Raegan slowly walking down the spiral stairs, step by step, and I knew she was trying not to fall down in her shoes as she called out my name. I didn't answer, no words coming to mind. Her footsteps got closer and closer until they were right outside the door. She knocked on it gently. "Love are you in there?" She asked, her voice soft and sweet. I didn't answer again, just opening the door from where I was sitting, then returned to resting my head in my hands. She came in shutting the door behind her. Through my hands I could see her take her heels off before kneeling down to be at my level. I looked back up at her and couldn't help but smile, my babe looked beautiful in her dress all done up for the occasion.

"Why are you crying?" She asked gently, placing one of her soft hands on my cheek.

"This day is supposed to be about Denise and Greg, not me. And look what's happened. They're are screaming fans all over the place. They probably hate me. I would hate me."

"They don't hate you. They love you and always will love you. Denise knows you didn't ask for all those people to be here, no one blames you." She looked right into my eyes as she spoke, and I knew that she meant every word.

"It still sucks though, I still feel bad. What if I've ruined it for them?"

"You haven't ruined anything. If anything, you've added an interesting story to the day." I couldn't help but chuckle a bit. The glass is always half full with her, something I loved about her.

"Thanks babe. That helps. I just wish that for once I could have my privacy." I wiped my eyes ridding them of the few tears that slipped out.

"I know you do." She cooed. "But we just have to take it as it is. It's a small price to pay for something so incredible."

"If it ever becomes too much, I'll understand if you leave you know."

"Niall James Horan." She said, giving me a fierce but cute look. "I am not going anywhere. Not now not ever, so don't even say that. I knew what I was getting myself into with you, and I wouldn't trade it for a second and I love you very much." She had her thumb on my chin, making sure I was looking at her as she talked. "Now I'm sure you're family would love for you to come back upstairs. The ceremony starts in an hour you know." She said smiling at me. "And I would love for you to come out of the toilets as well."

"For you? Anything." I told her. She stood back up, grabbed both my hands and pulled me up off the seat. She ran her hands through my hair while smiling at me. "How did you know I was down here?"

"I knew because I know how compassionate and kind you, and the minute I saw those fans outside I knew you would be kicking yourself for it." I silently asked myself how I got so lucky before responding to her.

"Smarty pants." I said sarcastically to her, making her roll her eyes at me.

"I love you." She said wrapping her arms around my neck.

"I love you too." I told her giving her a small smile. She pecked my lips before slipping her heels back on, making her almost as tall as me. Almost, but not quite. She grabbed my hand and we made our way back up the spiral staircase, my worries erased by the girl I love.

As the music started playing, I looked over at Greg and gave him a thumbs up. He looked nervous, but calm and collected at the same time. I couldn't help but smiled when I looked out at the small sea of people attending the wedding. The pews of the church were filled with all the important people in my life, and all of them were here to support Greg and Denise. I couldn't be happier for the two of them, and looked forward to what was to come.

Taking a glance at Raegan, sitting between my Mum and Dad gave me the chills, in a good way. She looked lovely in her dress, and happy too. From the minute she arrived, my parents have been doting on her as if she's one of their own kids. My mum insisted that she sit up front with the family, and Dad agreed. The only person she had left to meet was Greg. She had practically spent the whole day with Denise who absolutely loved her, but still hasn't met my brother. I went to the room where all the girls were getting ready to wish her luck before they booted me out, and she told me that Rae is "perfect" and that if I "mess things up with her" she'll personally hunt me down and beat me. This made me laugh, but apparently she was being serious.

The church doors opened and Denise starting making her way down the aisle to her wedding march. She looked lovely and  happier than I've ever seen her. As she made her way to Greg, the crowd awed and my Nan already started tearing up, which I knew she would. My mum was already handing tissues down the line of the pew, preparing herself.

The ceremony started, and the bride and groom were beaming through the whole thing. Greg just kept smiling and smiling, as if he couldn't stop, which he probably couldn't. As they said their vows I couldn't help but glance over at Raegan for a split second. She had a smile on her face as she watched, and a rolled up tissue in her hand. Her eyes looked a little watery, and I wondered what she was thinking about. Was she thinking about us? Where we're going? This wedding's been making me think all damn day about our future. I know its crazy, but its been on my mind all feckin' day. The last three months of being her boyfriend, and the last five months of knowing her have been some of the best months of my life, and this wedding was making me think of what it would be like to spend forever with her. The prospect was scary and intimidating, but I knew I didn't need to worry about it just yet. We had all the time in the world.

"You may now kiss the bride." The priest said, bringing me out of my thoughts.

Greg and Denise kissed and everyone started applauding. The moment couldn't be more perfect.

"I might be famous and big and not see you very much, but I'll always be your little brother." I said looking right at Greg and Denise, both of them smiling back at me. "And I am so happy for the both of you. Welcome to the family Denise." Everyone started clapping at my goofy speech, and I went to give Denise and Greg hugs as the music started up. I saw Dad stand up and ask Raegan to dance when the music started back up, and she gracefully said yes.

"Thanks brother." Greg said into my ear as we hugged. "It means everything to me. Oh, and she's amazing mate. Don't let her go." Shortly after the ceremony, I finally had the chance to introduce Raegan and Greg at the beginning of the reception.

"Thanks Greg." I said smiling as I went to hug Denise next.

"Thanks Niall. I couldn't be happier to be a part of your family." She said to me all teary eyed. "Now go dance with your girl." She had a cheeky smile on your face and patted me on the back as she adjusted her dress to sit back down.

"Thanks Denise." I told her. Pushing my chair in, I made my way onto the dance floor, saying hello to people as I passed the different tables. Eventually I made it to Raegan as the song was ending.

"Mind if I borrow her?" I asked my Dad.

"She's all yours." He said, clapping my back before returning to Aoife. I wrapped my arms around Raegan's waist as she wrapped hers around my neck. The song True Love Ways by Buddy Holly came on, and her and I started to dance.

"You look beautiful." I told her looking down into her eyes, making her blush.

"Thank you. You look very charming yourself you know. That tux really works for you."

"I am prince charming after all." I said cheekily, making her laugh.

"Does that make me your princess?" She said, smiling up at me.

"Course. You've been my princess since day one."

"Remember that day?" She asked me. The memory floated to my thoughts making me chuckle.

"The day I fell in love with a total stranger? Yeah I don't think I'll be forgetting anytime soon." I said sarcastically as we continued to dance. "You know this wedding's got me thinking."

"Thinking about what?"

"You know. Us. Me and you."

"Is this what you want for us?" She asked me, staring in my eyes, a small smile gracing her cheeks.

"Someday. For sure." I told her.

"Someday." She said quietly to herself, half smiling, her forehead resting on mine. For a moment, the two of us remained in utter silence, dancing together while contemplating our future........and it looked promising.
