Don't forget Where You Belong

Raegan Moynihan is no fashion model. She isn't famous or incredibly talented. She's just an ordinary college girl, new to Dublin.

Niall Horan is a world famous superstar. He's talented, can sing, play the guitar, and make girls swoon just by looking at them.

They find love in each other when they least expect it, then lose it all in a moment.

It's incredible how it only takes a second to almost lose the person you love more than anything, but, in the end, there's always a way to get through the misery and find the shining light of hope.

This story is a Niall Horan fan fiction about getting through it all to be with the person who means everything. Fame, stalkers, and oceans can't come between two people who are destined to be together.

20. Chapter 20 - Girls Night

As I walked into my flat, I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything was in perfect order, instead of the destroyed state that I came home to a few days ago. Niall and I hadn't returned here since the incident, so this must be the lovely surprise he yelled to me about as he went to get on the plane. I don't know when he had the place cleaned up and made pretty again, but I was so happy to not be coming home to a wrecked apartment. I sent Niall a lovey-dovey text thanking him, then closed the door behind me.

All the smashed pictures were in new matching black frames, hung up all around the room. They weren't in the same exact spots, but that was okay. They looked good being back up on the walls. The mirror next to the front door was replaced with a new one, and all the furniture pieces were back in their original spots. There was even a new, and slightly larger TV flat screen TV, replacing the smashed one.

Walking through the living room, I stopped short at what was hanging on the biggest wall. It was the painting, completely fixed. You would never know that someone had viciously slashed through the middle it with a knife. It was absolutely stunning, and looked just as beautiful as it did the day Niall gave it to me. I stood there and admired it for a while as different memories of the two of us floated through my thoughts. I treasured each moment with him, especially when we was away.

Suddenly a knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I peeked through the peephole to see Sarah and Morgan waving at the door, as if they knew I was looking. Each of them had pillows, sleeping bags, and tons of junk food piled in their arms. I smiled and opened the door. It was refreshing to see their bright and smiling faces.

"RAEGAN!" They both squealed as they stepped over the threshold. Dropping everything on the floor, they both attacked me with hugs, I didn't mind one bit. I had missed them like crazy while I was away.

"Hello loves" I said as I gave them a squeeze. They lets go of me and picked all their stuff up, except the food.

"We thought we could have a sleepover tonight? We probably should've told you first..." Morgan started trailing off.

"You guys. You're always welcome here. I'm glad you came." I told them. "You can put all that in my room, and I'll put the munchies in the kitchen."

"Okay!" They both said at the same time. They ran to my room and dropped their stuff off then quickly returned.

"So..." I started as they plopped their butts down on the bar stools while I leaned on the counter. "...I say we do our nails and toes, watch romantic movies and eat junk food all night?"

"That was the plan." Sarah said with a smile. We all went to the living room, and I put in Dear John for starters as we picked out what nail polish colors we wanted. The three of us spread ourselves across the couch in various positions, and the girls night began. We talked about all sorts of things. Sarah told me about how boring it was here in Dublin over break, while Morgan babbled about how excited she was to graduate this semester. Uni was right around the corner for her and she was ecstatic. It was so relaxing and calm to just be spending time with two of my best friends.

"So Reagan, tell us about your break! How was it?!" Sarah said after filling me in on hers.

"Well, did I tell you that Niall finally asked me to be his girlfriend?" I asked, like it was no big deal, just to get them riled up of course.

"WHAT?!" They said in unison.

"Yep. The last day of finals he surprised me in the kitchen, then we went out to the Porterhouse and he asked me."

"Awwwwww. That's so cute!" Morgan said. as she started painting her big toe a vibrant red. "How long did he stay for?"

"Well, I had to leave for America like two days later, so he stayed here until I was supposed to leave, and then wicked last minute, he came to America with me. He met my family and everything."

"Oh. My. God. Did they like him?" Sarah asked me, looking surprised.

"They loved him. Briley and Connor took him to do tons of stuff and now they're planning a fishing trip or something this summer." I said rolling my eyes.

"That's adorable." Morgan said.

"Raegan, did you get a new TV?" Sarah said staring the screen." She hadn't noticed until now.

"Yeah, someone broke in and wrecked this whole place while I was away. So I had to get a new TV. Niall actually bought it for me." I smiled at his thoughtfulness, missing him so much already.

"What?! Who did it?" Morgan asked me, giving me a wide eyed look.

"You guys can't say anything if I tell you......" I warned them. Officer Barlow told I shouldn't anyone what happened, but this wasn't something I wanted to keep from Sarah and Morgan, especially since they're the ones who found me that night at the jazz club.

"We promise." They said together.

"It was Jake. I'm almost positive, and the guards agree with me. He's been texting me all these creepy things too, and they put a restraining order on him for me. I have to go down to the station every week and show them all the texts I keep getting from him." They both just stared at me, mouths hanging open while nail polish dripped off the brushes and onto their feet.

"Wooooow." Morgan said, paint dripping onto her foot.

"Yeah its messed up." I said.

"Totally messed up." Sarah agreed. After that, the conversation went back lighter subjects like school and classes and such.

"I'm excited to go back. Are you?" Sarah asked me.

"Totally. Did I tell you I'm switching my course?" I asked her.

"No, what are you changing it to? I thought you liked Psychology?"

"I do, but I decided that I don't want to be a clinical psychologist. And I don't want to do experiments either. And I don't want to be in school forever." I explained. "So, I'm changing it to nutrition."

I had decided to change my course within the first few weeks of my first semester, but hadn't really told anyone until I went back to America. My family completely supported me, and so did Niall. The only crappy part of the whole deal was that now I was a semester behind because I couldn't change it officially until this coming semester, but I was looking forward to the nutrition course because I really did find it fascinating, and I would still be taking science classes, which I liked a lot. Another downside though is that now I'm enrolled in an extra class this semester, which means an overloaded work load, and I have to take a semesters worth of classes this summer to catch up completely. But it will be completely worth it when I graduate because finding a job I like will be ten times easier.

"What do your parents think?" Morgan asked me.

"They're alright with it. As long as I'm doing something for my education they don't mind the switch at all."

"Well that's good. At least you decided now rather than three years from now."

"Exactly." I said. The three of us continued to talk for a while, munching on ice cream and chocolate, until our conversation was interrupted by the home phone ringing. I jumped up to answer it.

"Hello Raegan....." Holy shit, it was Jake. I motioned to the girls and mouthed the words "It's Jake" to them, while I pressed the buttons on the wire tap to start recording the call.

"Hello Jake. Why are you calling me?"

"To beg for forgiveness. I can do so much better than that blonde asshole of yours."

"No you can't. Now don't call me again." I said firmly.

"I don't think so. I'll never stop calling you. You belong to me."

"No, I don't."

"I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one sweetheart." I cringed at his name for me. Gross. "You've already learned I'm not one to be messed with. How's the flat by the way?" His words sent chills down my spine, I felt completely and utterly creeped out.

"It's fine now that you're gone. Now goodbye." I slammed the phone down, and noticed my hands were shaking. I stopped the recording, and looked up at Sarah and Morgan, who were just staring at me, their eyes open wide.

"What did he say?" Morgan asked.

"Just stuff about how I'm his, and he asked me about my flat. That prick."

"Wow, what a jerk." Sarah said.

"You're telling me! Now lets forget about it. We haven't even finished our nails yet." I said to them. We sat back down on the couches, and our girls night continued in peace.

I woke up the next morning with a crick in my neck. The three of us had passed out in the living room last night, and the floor isn't nearly as comfy as my fluffy bed. I rolled over to find Sarah and Morgan practically spooning. It was hilarious, and a perfect picture opportunity. I grabbed my phone and snapped a picture, putting it twitter. I was careful not to mention anything about where I was in the tweet, keeping it short and sweet. They'll kill me when they see it, but they won't be able to deny that it's funny. After checking twitter, I checked my messages. There were three creepy ones from Jake, which I saved for evidence, and two from Niall. The first one of Niall's read:

You're welcome love. Miss you already. xx

I got that one around seven last night, that must of been when his flight landed. He must be responding to my thank you. That one was followed by another:

You must be busy or sleeping. Call me in the morning? love you.

I walked into my bedroom, leaving the sleeping beauties to snooze. I dialed Niall's number and he picked it up on the first ring.

"Good morning beautiful."

"Good morning handsome. It's early, I thought you might still be sleeping."

"Nope, I'm wide awake...How are you love? Were you okay at your place by yourself?" He asked me, concern riddled through his voice.

"It was fine, I wasn't by myself. Morgan and Sarah came over for a girls night."

"Good. I was nervous thinking about you all by yourself."

"For good reason too...... Jake called last night."

"What?! What did he say?"

"Just called you an ass and teased me about messing with my flat. Don't worry, I recorded it like the guards showed me to."

"I wish I could make this all stop. I'm sorry." He said. I could imagine his eyebrows creasing together as he said this. I hated him being so worried about me when he should be focusing on works.

"You have nothing to be sorry about. You're not the one stalking me. He is."

"Yeah well I still worry sick about you. You're gonna take the tape to the cop shop right?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I'll bring it down tomorrow after work. I also saved a bunch of texts too."

He heaved a big sigh, probably out of frustration. "Alright love. Well I've got to go. I think we have a photoshoot or something soon. Liam's yelling at me to hurry up."

I couldn't help but laugh. The guys of One Direction wouldn't get anywhere on time with out lovely Liam. "Okay, have fun and look cute alright?" I told him. He chuckled on the other end.

"Don't I always?" I rolled my eyes at him. Such a cheeky thing he could be.

"Yes, you are. Now goodbye Niall. Don't be late. I love you."

"I love you too. Talk to you tonight."

"Bye babe." My heart skipped a beat at his little pet name for me. I loved it.

I walked back out to the living room and shook Morgan and Sarah awake. They both woke up a little startled, and confused at their cuddling position. They started to giggle as they stood up and stretched.

"You guys want to go out for some breakfast?" I asked them.

I'd love to, but I've got to hurry home. I need to study for a test." Crap, I totally forgot Morgan got back in school a lot sooner than Sarah and I. She picked up her things, hugged me goodbye, and headed out.

"We're still getting breakfast right?" Sarah asked me. I laughed at her and rolled my eyes. I love having friends who like food as much as I do.

"Well duuuuh." I said making a silly face at her. We grabbed our coats and headed out the door for a small cafe down the street that had the best bagels in the city. Walking in, the place was quiet and not too busy, just how I liked it. The two of us walked up to the counter, ordered our bagels and tea, then sat down by the window once we got our breakfast. We were chatting about everyday things, when I heard the bell above the door ring and a large pack of younger looking teenage girls walked in and sat in the large corner booth. They were all talking loudly, and Sarah and I both stopped to look over at the small crowd of girls. I turned back around to resume conversing with her when I heard Niall's name come from the booth. I shifted my chair a little bit, wiggled my eyebrows at Sarah, then turned around so I could listen in, curious as to what the girls were talking about.

"Okay ladies. We can do this. We have one or two photographs of this girl. I know they're not the best, but we can figure it out." Said one girl who was sitting in the middle of the circular booth. She had bright bleached blonde hair and was snapping her gum obnoxiously. She couldn't be older than thirteen.

"But Cara, there are so many redheads in the city. She could be anyone! And Niall hasn't even said anything else about her! No even knows if they're actually together!" Whined another girl with brown hair with some pink streaks in it.

"Yes," Said the blonde girl, who must be Cara. "But, only one girl in this city is Niall Horan's girlfriend. I can just feel it. They just have to be together. And once we figure it out, we can tell the whole world, get a picture of her, and make enough money to go to their concert. Duh!"

I looked over at Sarah. She was pursing her lips in an attempt not to laugh, giving me a hilarious look. I couldn't blame her. The fact that these girls who couldn't be older than twelve or thirteen, were trying to track down Niall Horan's girlfriend, who happened to be me, was absolutely hilarious. They would waste an entire Sunday to go on their little mission, and little did they know that I was sitting in the same cafe as them as they spoke about me. I started laughing too, them slapped my hand over my mouth to help me hold back the giggles escaping from my mouth. It was a one of a kind situation.

"So this is what we know about her so far." Said the Cara girl as Sarah and I leaned a little further to listen in. "She has natural red hair, and its longer. She's probably lives in Dublin, because that's where her and Niall were first spotted in October." My memories raced for a second, back to that night, my birthday, the day I met Niall. Then my focus returned back to the Cara girl.

"She's old enough to drink, considering the picture taken from behind was them walking towards a pub. She lives right around here, because he spotted driving in this area just two days ago." I didn't realize that he was spotted in the car. It must have been when he went back to my apartment to set up my surprise, I must have been sleeping or something. Damn, these Directioners were good. The girls all around the table were nodding, and Cara passed around the picture from October. "Also, she may have an American accent. The insider who saw them in the Dublin Airport on Thursday said that the passport in her hand somewhat looked like it had an American seal on it, but she wasn't sure."

I looked over at Sarah who was still trying to suppress her laughter. She mouthed the words "Oh God" to me, making a hysterical face. I turned back around to keep listening, curious as to what their plan of action would be to try and get my picture.

"How are we going to find her Cara?" Asked another girl.

"Well we are going to split up. Walk around and peer in cafes. Stand outside the main apartment complexes around St. Stephens Green. You know. Listen in to see if a red head around town is blabbing about Niall or the boys. We can even check the library at Trinity. Got it?" The rest of the girls nodded. I turned back around to Sarah done listening.

"Holy shit!" She whispered.

"I know! They're nuts!" I yell whispered back to her.

"It doesn't get more dense than God. We best be heading out then eh?"

"Yeah lets get the hell out of here before they notice me. We should take a longer route back too."

"Agreed." She whispered back to me. I stuffed my wallet into my coat pocket and stood up, making sure I wasn't facing the table of girls as I did so, but tried not to act to concerned. If I looked sneaky, then they might assume its because I overheard them and take my picture. But if I wasn't sly enough, then they'll get a picture anyways. Either way it was a lose-lose situation, so I needed to be smart about it. Sarah and I walked out, our backs facing the table as we did so, trying not to giggle, and no one ended up chasing us so it was safe to say we were in the clear.

"Wow." Said Sarah. "Now I get why you've been keeping this under wraps."

"I told you. It's crazy."

"Are you ever going to let Niall tell the fans? Or not go out in disguises?" She asked me.

"Yeah, soon I'm sure. I starting to get used to the idea of having my picture taken and everything, and I'm sick of the stupid disguises."

"I'm sure Niall just wants to show you off to the world."

I giggled a little bit. She hit the nail on the head with that one. "Oh he does. He keeps saying he just wants to be able to hold my hand in public without wearing his sunglasses for once."

"It is a bit silly to wear them in January." She said and we both started laughing again.

"Exactly. I think the worst part will be the twitter trolls though. My Dad is practically lawyer royalty, so I've been bombarded by cameras a few times, but the twitter trolls are a whole new level for me."

"Oh those gits. Any fan who trashes you on twitter isn't a fan at all."

"True that. It sucks because Niall's been antsy about having to stay hidden ever since he came back from America with me."

"I bet. Meeting your family obviously showed how serious he is about this whole thing. It's probably frustrating that he can't talk about you to anyone else but his family and bandmates." She said.

I had never really thought about it that way. I asked Niall not to tell anyone but the boys and his close family. It must be frustrating to be asked again and again about someone you love and you can't even tell them who you are. But, he had to understand where I was coming from, especially after what I just witnessed in that cafe. People would harass me, and try to get my picture for money. I wasn't ready for that quite yet.

When we arrived at my flat, Sarah grabbed her things and headed out, hugging me goodbye. She had to get back to her place to help her mom plan a party or something. I locked the door behind her, twisting the new deadbolt that Niall had installed before he left.

I plopped my butt on the couch after cleaning up the mess the girls and I had made in the living room, and turned on the telly. The sounds of BBC distracting me from my worrisome thoughts.....
