"Raegan! Edin is here!" My mom yelled up the stairs. I was in my room getting ready to go shopping at the mall with her. I had only bought tree Christmas presents so far, two of Niall's and one for my Dad, so I needed to get a move on and get the rest.
"I'll be down in a minute!" I yelled back to her. I slipped my Sorel winter boots on underneath my yoga pants, grabbed my wallet off my desk, and left my room.
"Raegan! Hurry up! I want to meet your man before we go!" I heard Edin yell up the stairs. Boy oh boy, I missed her bossy ways, and didn't mind her yelling at me for once. It was crazy to think I haven't seen her face for three months.
"I'm trying! I have to find him first! He's around here somewhere!" I yelled back at her. I could picture her rolling her eyes and returning to the conversation she was probably having with my mother at the bottom of the stairs. I had to find Niall so I could introduce the two of them. I had only told Edin on the phone that I had a new boyfriend. I didn't tell her that I was actually dating Niall Horan from One Direction. I mean, it doesn't matter to me whether Niall is famous, I would like him either way, but it certainly made our relationship a more unique one that would come with different types of struggles. Edin wasn't the biggest 1D fan, she just thinks all the guys are hot, but she knows plenty enough, and I knew she would immediately recognize him. She had been doing her homework on the band to prepare for the concert in March.
I ran upstairs to the attic, which my parents remodeled and turned into the kids living room. The room has huge bean bags, a huge flat screen TV, a pool table, the Xbox, a Wii, and a mini fridge, along with a bunch of other fun stuff too. The room even had a futon so our friends had a place to sleep when they came over if the guestroom was already taken. My parents really designed it to be a hangout area for the kids when we had friends over, and friends never had to knock on the front door. My mum has always said that at our house, we have an "open door policy."
When I got to the top of the stairs I wasn't surprised to find Niall and my brothers playing FIFA on the Xbox. Over the last week the guys and him have hung out more than him and I. It didn't bother me at all, and I loved the fact that they were spending time together and having fun. It just showed me that my brothers liked him, which was important to me.
"Do you guys mind if I steal Niall for a minute? Edin is here and wants to meet him."
"Can't you see we're in the middle of a game here?" Connor said while his eyes were still glued to the screen, hands still glued to the controller.
"Yes, but I know you can pause it. Besides, Niall isn't even playing this round!" At the sound of his name he turned his around to look at me with a smile, bringing him out of his video game trance. He stood up, cracked his neck and walked over to me.
"Guys, I'll be right back. You can do the next round without me." He said to the boys. He grabbed my hand and we started heading down the stairs.
"I'm sorry I took you away from your game." I told him when we got to the bottom of the attic stairs. He stopped in his tracks and pulled me back so I was looking right at him. He gave me a big grin, and his eyes were shining like always.
"Its okay. You're much more important than video games." He kissed me, soft and sweet. "Besides, you already know who my four best friends are, it's about time I meet yours." He said, kissing me again.
"That means alot you know."
"Yeah well you mean a lot to me." I couldn't help but smile at his words.
"Thanks. And I'm sorry if you feel like a zoo animal, having to meet so many people this week and have them all just gawk you." He started to laugh at my words.
"Don't apologize love. I expected it. Besides, everyone's reactions are priceless." He kissed me again on the lips. I love kissing him, it never gets old.
"RAEGAN. LETS GO." Edin yelled again. "THE STORES ARE ALL GOING TO CLOSE." We started laughing, as we started walking downstairs again. When we reached the bottom landing, my mom started to smirk a little bit and so did I. I leaned into Edin and gave her a hug while Niall stood behind me, waiting for an introduction.
"Holy crap, I've missed you so much." She said squeezing me tight. Suddenly she stopped squeezing so much and got all stiff. "Holy mother of God.... that is Niall Horan standing two feet in front of me. Oh my God." She said as she looked up. She let go me, and I couldn't help but laugh at her expression. Just like my mum, her mouth was hanging open, and her eyes were wide.
"Uh Edin, this is Niall." Her mouth was still hanging open and Niall started chuckling. "Niall, this is Edin." Niall stuck his hand, and Edin loosely shook his hand like a rag doll. I guess you could say she was still a little star struck.
"He's the guy you've been blushing about on skype for the last month? Why didn't you tell me?!" She said astounded, her eyes still on Niall. "Am I being 'Punk'd' or something? Ashton! You can come out now!"
"You're not being punked. I promise. Would you have believed me if I told you over the phone?"
"Not one bit."
"That's why I waited. Now come on. All the stores are gonna close, remember?" I said mocking her. She just shook her head and mumbled something to herself. I kissed Niall on the cheek and said goodbye to him and my mom.
"Have fun with the boys!" I yelled as I shut the front door behind me.
--Niall's Point of View--
I ran back upstairs to play some more FIFA, a smile on my face. All week I had been introduced to family members of Raegan's, each one of them nearly shitting themselves because I was famous. Reactions like that are always priceless to me. I still see myself as a normal guy whether the world does or not. That's one thing I love about Raegan, she sees me as just a normal guy, and treats me like one too. She isn't with me for attention, she's with me because she actually likes me.
"Sweet, your back. Its your turn." Said Connor as I made it back to the attic. He handed me a controller and a new game started. Rian and Kellan had gone downstairs to ask Raegan's mum if they could come snowmobiling with Briley, Connor and I. After a few minutes of uninterrupted focus on scoring a goal, Connor spoke up.
"You actually like my sister right?" He asked me just as he scored a goal. "You're not just trying to get in her pants? Because if you are, I'll kill you."
"Yeah, I actually do like her. A lot actually."
"Good. Because I've never seen her this happy from a dude before, and she doesn't deserve to be fucked with." I didn't know what to say to him. He said it so casually, but I knew his words were serious. Do I tell him how much I truly like Raegan? I had never believed in love at first sight until she came roaring into my life. Since the moment I laid eyes on her I knew I loved her, but love is a strong word. It means that you like every single thing about a person. It means that you would protect that person, and do every single thing in your power to make that person happy. But the word love was all I could think of when I thought about my feelings for Raegan. I love her. I want to do everything in the world to make her happy, and I want keep her safe. I want to spoil her and treat her right no matter what. She's my girl, my love, my babe, my everything. I love everything about her. She's beautiful inside and out, and I have never met a girl who makes me so happy before. She makes me want to be a better person, and work harder at everything I do. If I were to lose her, I would lose my mind too.
"I wouldn't mess with her. She's....." I was at a loss for words. "....she's amazing." I told him, scoring a goal as I did so. The match was tied now.
"I think she loves you." Connor said to me, his eyes still glued to the screen. At this point I figured I should just be real with Connor. If I really loved Raegan as much I do, he would find out eventually I'm sure, and I hoped he wouldn't want to kick my ass for having such strong feelings for her.
"Yeah well, I think I love her too." Connor kind of chuckled, shaking his head with a smirk on his face. I can't believe I just told him I loved his sister. He probably thinks I'm a total loser or something. Oh well, it's the truth. Now I just had to get the courage and say it to Raegan. I hoped she wouldn't think I was crazy.
"Well......" He said still chuckling. "...welcome to the family then." He clapped my back with his hand before scoring another goal.
--Raegan's Point of View--
"So he just stared at you?" Edin asked me as we walked into another store. Between the two of us we probably had about ten huge shopping bags, and I think we were almost ready to call it quits and go get some food. A few more stores and the some Chinese food would be coming our way.
"Yeah. He just stared. It was quite funny."
"It sounds like love at first sight." She said, pulling a sweatshirt off a rack.
"That's what my friend Sarah said. She was the one who was with me."
"Seeeeeee. I'm not the only one. And don't
deny it wasn't the same for you as it was for him."
"What do you mean?"
She put the sweatshirt back on the rack just to look at me with her typical stern expression that she always got when she was serious about something. "Raegan, you love him. Everyone can see it. I can see it and I just met the guy today!"
Her words stopped me in my tracks. She was right of course. I love Niall. I love him more than anyone I've ever been with before. Everything about him just makes me love him more and more each day. Every time I look into his eyes its like the first time I saw them. I loved him the instant we met. But I couldn't tell him that, the idea alone sounds crazy. We've only known each other for two months, and haven't even been together for a week. If Niall knew that I thought I loved him, he would probably think I was a psychopath. I know he likes me, and we were already serious about this relationship, but did he love me? Probably not. But I love Niall with all my heart and soul. He makes me so incredibly happy. He is my knight in shining armor that you dream about as a little girl. I love the way he treats me, the way he just looks at me and just smiles sometimes. I loved it when he would hum or sing to help me fall asleep and he was always the one saving me in my nightmares. I love how protective he is of me, and it always makes my heart jump when he calls me "babe" or "love." I love our flirty and joking banter that we have. His sense of humor fits me perfectly, and not only is he funny, he's kind. He is so sweet and polite and actually listens when people talk to him. He is compassionate about everything he sets his heart on, and so talented too. He's perfect.
Not only is everything about his personality perfect, the rest of his features are perfect too. His hair, his eyes, his smile, his......everything. I have never been so physically attracted to someone before. Since the moment we met, I have always thought that there was some sort of connection, that "spark" that people talk about. It's like we're connected on a chemical and physical level too, which is something I love. The butterflies in my stomach haven't gone away since the day we met. I love that feeling, and I sure as hell love him.
I rolled my eyes at her, returning from the sea of thought I had lost myself in. "Don't be dumb Edin, we've only known each other for a short time."
"So what. You can still love someone in only a short time. He loves you, you love him. It's so obvious."
"Oh really....please explain to me how it's so obvious." I said sarcastically as I started flipping through a rack of men's long sleeved shirts. Briley needed some clothes, and did Connor.
"I don't know. The way he looks at you, it's in his eyes. Your body language is completely in tune to one another. He moves one way, you mimic or compliment it without even noticing you do it. I only saw the two of you together for like five seconds and even then it was so noticeable."
"Yeah. And I can see it in your whole energy. The happiness is just radiating off the two of you. To be honest, its actually kind of.......inspiring. The two of you are acting like younger versions of my parents. And your parents too." She said with a chuckle. Edin and I were some of the lucky ones. A lot of our friends' parents divorced when we were growing up, but our parents managed to stay together. I could feel my cheeks blushing at her words. Inspiring? I didn't realize that Niall and I were like that to other people. "Are you going to tell him?"
"What, that I love him? Not now. He'll think I'm nuts."
"I bet he is saying the exact same thing to himself. He loves you too."
"Yeah well, I don't wanna be the first one to say something! What if I do and it totally messes everything up?"
"It won't mess everything up. It will make his day you goober. Because he LOVES you." She said walking up to the register with some sweatpants in her hand, laughing to herself as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Whatever you say." I said with my usual eye roll and a smile. "I'm starved, lets get some food."
"Agreed babycakes. Let's go." She grabbed her bag and we started making our way towards the food court. I figured we would get our usual order from the Chinese place. Since the very first time we had shopped at the mall by ourselves when we were eleven years old. It was kind of like our own little tradition to order some lo mein to share. We walked up to the counter and ordered, then chose our usual table. We always sat in the same place too. It was the perfect table for people watching, which Edin and I loved to do together. People are fascinating when they don't know they were being watched by someone.
Right as we sat down my phone starting buzzing. I took it out from whatever shopping bag I had thrown it in. It was a text, from an anonymous number. I hadn't received any Jake texts since I had changed my number and wasn't pleased to see the restricted contact across my screen.
You thought changing your number would get rid of me, but you were wrong.
I could feel the color draining out of my face as my eyes zoomed over the message. This could not be happening again. I immediately craved the warmth of Niall's body holding mine to make me feel safe again.
"Are you feeling okay? You look all pale." Edin said, giving me a quizzical look looking at me as lo mein dangled from her fork.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I think I'm a little dehydrated." I opened my water and took a long sip, just to convince her. I didn't tell her about what happened between Jake and I. In fact, the only people who knew that he hit me were Niall, Morgan and Sarah. And the only person who knew that he was kind of stalking me was Niall. I was adamant about not telling my parents or brothers, or even Edin. It was only make a scene and cause more issues. But I would tell Niall about this.
"So what are Niall and the Moynihan clan up to today?" Edin asked me.
"Well I think they were going to take Niall snowmobiling. He's never been."
"He hasn't?" She said her mouth dropping open. Her and I had grown up snowmobiling our whole lives, and both of us were capable of driving the sleds, and we loved to race each other.
"Nope, and he's never been skiing either. We took him to Loon yesterday. It was hilarious, he was falling all over the place. You should've seen it."
"That's hilarious. New skiers crack me up." We started to laugh, the image of Niall falling down was playing over and over again in my head.
"Yeah it was fun. He got the hang of it by the end of the day, but he slept like a rock that night."
"Can't blame him. I bet his ankles were sore too."
"They were. I wanted to take him shopping, but obviously he couldn't come with us since I'm buying his presents today." I had finally picked out Niall's Christmas gifts. I bought him a custom football jersey for his team with his name on the back a week ago, some new slippers for the tour bus, and a really cool guitar poster that listed every single chord you can imagine on it. I had also gotten him a Nando's giftcard last week before we came to America. I hoped that he would like his presents, because he really outdid himself with mine.
"Speaking of which, when are you going to give him his stuff?"
"He probably won't be home until after me, so I'll have time to wrap it all when we get back. Then I'll probably give it to him after dinner. He leaves tomorrow and I don't want to send it to him."
"He's going to love it."
"I hope so....."
After dinner, I said goodnight to the family and Niall and I went upstairs to my room. I had wrapped his presents and they were sitting on my bed waiting for him to tear them open.
"What are these?" He said pointing at them as I shut my bedroom door behind me.
"Your Christmas presents." I said will a smile.
"You didn't have to get me anything love." He said, sending chills up my spine with his eyes when he looked at me.
"No, I but I wanted to."
He kissed me on the lips, soft and sweet. "Thanks babe. Can I open them now?" He asked me, his face lighting up like a little kid's. I may be dating a nineteen year old, but sometimes he acts like he's five.
"Of course you can. Go crazy." We both sat on my bed and he started ripping the presents open. First was the guitar poster. He unrolled it and his eyes got all wide.
"This is so cool!" He said, his eyes scanning the poster. "I love it." He kissed me again then reached for the next one. As he opened his slippers a smile spread across his face. "You remembered?" He said looking at me with a smile.
"If you can remember a painting, then I certainly can remember you talking about slippers for the tour bus." I said laughing.
"Well thanks love."
"Look inside the shoe. There's more." He looked puzzled, and started shaking the slippers when the Nando's gift card fell out.
"Sweet! Nando's! Thanks babe!" He kissed me again, making my stomach practice gymnastics. He grabbed the last package and started ripping it open. Once all the paper was off the box, he slid his hands through the tape and popped the lid off the box. His mouth dropped open and he slowly lifted the jersey out of the box, handling it gently as if it were a child. I rolled my eyes at him, chuckling to myself.
"Is this an official Derby jersey?" He asked, his eyes all wide.
"Turn it around." He did, and his mouth dropped open again.
"You had my name put on? How did you manage?"
"Well, my Dad knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy."
"I love it, so much." He threw the shirt aside, lust suddenly in his eyes. He reached over put both his hands on my cheek and kissed me. It started out slow, but quickly turned into something more lustful and passionate, and turned into a very heated kiss. The make out session went on for a while, and only stopped when my phone went off on the nightstand twenty minutes later.
"You want me to get that?" He said pulling away from me. I had ended up on top of him straddling his waist.
"No, its just a text." We started kissing again, but were interrupted once more by my phone. He pulled away, again, both of us out of breath from all the kissing. He leaned over and handed me my phone, a look of concern spread across his face as he did so. "What's wrong?" I asked him.
"It says you have a text. From an anonymous number." Shit, I had completely forgotten about the text I got earlier. I opened the messages. The first one read:
Why aren't you home? Are you with him?
Chills ran down my spine, not in the good way like when Niall would kiss my neck, but in the bad way, like when something freaked you out. The second read:
Answer me Raegan. I know you really want to...
I could feel the color drain from my face again. My heart starting racing out of fear. This couldn't be happening again.
"What do they say?" Niall asked. I just handed him my phone, too scared to speak. He read them and his eyes got really wide, and his entire demeanor changed.
"Raegan, when did these texts start up again?" He said angrily. I knew he wasn't angry at me, he was angry at the person texting me, Jake.
"They just started today while I was at the mall. I was going to tell you, but I completely forgot."
"Fuck. You need to tell the guards when you get back, and ignore the texts until then okay? I can't believe this. We'll get this fucker." He said staring at the messages, anger riddled through his voice. Tears started running down my face and when he looked up from the screen of my phone, a sad expression crossed his face, covering the anger. "Don't cry love." He said wrapping his arms around me, changing the way he was laying so I could lay on his shoulder. He pulled me into this chest and I just continued to cry. "I won't let this Jake guy get to you okay?" I just nodded, tears still streaming down my face. "But you have to promise to go to the guards when you get home." I nodded again, making it clear that I would tell the police of the situation.
I was scared. If Jake could get my new number, what else was he capable of? The thoughts of all the possibilities terrified me. Niall started rubbing circles on my shoulders while I cried, and eventually the tears started slowing down. He started to sing quietly, and I immediately was at ease. His singing just had that effect on me. We just laid there like that for a while, him soothing my troubles while I just bathed in the warmth of his touch.
The next morning I woke up to Niall gently kissing my cheek while the smell of breakfast greeted me. I sleepily opened my eyes to see Niall look at me with a small smile in his face.
"Do you know how beautiful you are?" He asked me, and I could feel my cheeks getting red.
"Do you know how handsome you are?" I asked him back. He leaned in and kissed me again. I loved waking up like this, and was sad that this was our last morning waking up together for a while. I silently wished for more mornings like this, but I could never ask him to stay longer. I knew that he was missing his family and was looking forward to going back to Mullingar. Family is just as important to him as it is to me, and I couldn't wait to meet his family in the future.
"I wish I could take you with me to Mullingar."
"I wish I could go with you, but my family would cry if I wasn't here for Christmas this year."
"I know love, I know. And mine would kill me if I stayed here." He said. He kissed me again, and we laid there for a few more minutes while the smell of breakfast wafted upstairs. "I think your mom is cooking some pancakes, we should probably get some before they're gone eh?"
"Race you down there!" I said, suddenly jumping out of bed and booking it for the door. My playful side was running wild.
"Oh no you don't!" He yelled in his charming accent, following close behind. I ran down the hall to the stairs with Niall right on my heals, and I couldn't stop giggling. I jumped the last three steps and ran around the corner, and just as I spun around the door frame, Niall wrapped his hands around my waist, and threw me over his shoulder.
"Niall! Put me down!" I yelled, kicking my feet.
I could hear my mom laughing as she starting piling up the pancakes on a big tray. "Don't let her win Niall. She'll remind you about losing for weeks."
He casually walked into the kitchen, grabbed a plate, set it on the kitchen table, and said "I win." while pinching my bum when my mom wasn't looking. Then he finally put me down.
"Not fair. You cheated!"
"No I didn't. You never said I couldn't pick you up." I stuck my tongue out at him and grabbed a plate for myself, piling three pancakes on it. Niall of course, grabbed six.
The rest of the family came downstairs one by one, all except Dad who went to work super early even though it was a Sunday, and Briley who was at his own place. We all sat down together and had a nice family breakfast. I love family meals, they're the best way to learn what's going on with everyone.
After breakfast, Niall and I helped my mom clean up the kitchen, then went back upstairs. He had to pack his suitcase since his flight be leaving at four, so we had to be out of here by twelve. It was already ten, so we needed to get a move on. I would be bringing him to the airport, so I had to get ready too. Niall went to get in my shower and I started picking out my outfit for the day. It was freezing outside so I pulled out my long puffy black jacket, a jumper, some skinny jeans, and my Sorel boots. Once he got out of the shower, I hopped in and we were both ready in no time. All that was left was the actual packing.
"Niall, how do you manage to get your clothes all over my floor in only five days? I even found two of your shirts in the playroom!" I said laughing to myself as I tossed the two shirts at him. He could be so messy sometimes, but I didn't care. I loved his messy ways, and I would spend the rest of my life cleaning up if it meant being with him. We started packing, and finished in no time, leaving us with twenty minutes to spare.
Niall sunk onto my bed and laid down, and patted to spot on his left, gesturing me to lay with him. I laid down beside him resting my head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around me while we both just stared at the ceiling.
"I'm going to miss you." He said quietly, still looking up at the ceiling.
"I'm gonna miss you too."
He turned to look at me, smiling at me with his perfect smile. "I'll call you everyday until I leave for Ghana with the guys. And we can skype too, yeah?"
"Of course." I told him, kissing him softly.
"And as soon as I come back from Ghana, maybe I can stop in Dublin for a few days, but I'm not sure yet." I could tell he was bummed out about not being able to see me for the next few weeks. I was bummed too.
"Okay." I said quietly, sadness starting to creep up on me. Him I just laid there in silence for a little bit longer until he spoke up again.
"I'm sorry I can't always be there like other guys can." I turned to look at him, sadness was etched across his face, and his eyes were a little dimmer.
"Never apologize for following your dreams and doing something you love." I told him. "I will always be there. I'll always be waiting for you when you come home. I'm not going anywhere."
He smiled again, the light returning to his baby blues. I loved those eyes, and that smile.
"And I'll always want you to be the person I come home to." That made me smile. He always worries about me finding another guy when he's not around, but I don't think it's ever occurred to him that I worry about the same thing exact. Sometimes I worry about him finding another girl on tour who can make him happier than me. Not in a jealous way though, I trust him completely, but in more of a worrisome, "I can't believe he would even choose me" kind of way.
I knew we were supposed to be leaving in 5 minutes, but I didn't want to get up.
"Reagan?" He said quietly as he stared at the ceiling above.
"I love you." He had a serious expression on his face, and looked somewhat nervous too. A smile spread across my face, my heart fluttering.
"I love you too." I told him. He gave a sigh of relief, like he had been waiting to say it for a long time. He leaned over and kissed me, and it was by far the most beautiful kiss I have ever experienced. Our lips perfectly molded together, our energies connected and an incredible overwhelming feeling of joy ran through every atom of my body as he caressed my cheeks.
I love him, and he loves me.
Please tell me what you think and if I should continue!
