"Justin is... He is not perfect. Our relationship is not different from others. We do have problems too, because we're an absolutely normal couple. We laugh, we fight, we have long talks... Justin can be the sweetest guy you've ever met or really annoying. He can be a real idiot... But he's my idiot and that's okay." - Melody Sullivan

8. Honest Words

"I've told them others about our plans tonight, is it okay with you?" I asked, putting on some dark jeans the next evening. We had spent the day by lying in bed, watching TV, ordering food, making out. Now it was time that we'd get ready for the Club.

"Oh, sure, absolutely. Who's coming with us?" Melody asked, straightening her hair.

"I guess everyone. Melara told them all, even Chaz is coming," I told her and she smiled.

"So it's going to be a good night, huh?" Melody said and I smiled, buttoning my jeans.

Melody was already wearing a blue, tight dress and some high heels. The ring sparkled at her finger and her make up underlined the color of her eyes. She looked amazing.

I put on some black Supras and a light shirt. The night would be just as hot as the day, I knew it. I looked at my mirror reflection, running a hand trough my hair.

"You look hot," Melody said, placing her next to me.

I looked at the beautiful girl in the mirror, who laid an arm around my waist. Her long legs shimmered slightly brown; the color of the dress and its shape was perfect.

"We look hot," I corrected her and she laughed, planting a kiss on my cheek.

"Liar," she whispered and I turned to her, releasing the girl in the mirror from my eyes. I lay my hands on her hips, pulling her closer to me.

"You look damn hot. If we had enough time..." I said and my eyes flattered to the beds.

Melody smirked. "We do fit perfectly. I'm nasty and you're naughty."

I laughed and shrugged my shoulder.

"I can live with that," I said, before pressing my lips on hers.

Even though Melody was wearing high heels, she got on her tip toes to kiss me better, placing her arms around my neck. When I started kissing her neck again, she let out a moan and said, "Fuck this party, we’re staying here."

I laughed and kissed her lips again, already nodding in agreement, but there was a knock on the door and I sighed.

"They're here, but we can catch up things later," I said, winking at her.

"Can't wait," she answered and gave me a last kiss.

At the club we each got a green wristband after paying for the entrance. The club was hot; the heated air banking up in the rooms. The music was loud and Chaz, Harry and I went to get some drinks. Caitlin managed to get a private area for us with tables and couches. The music was good, the girls were pretty and my girlfriend was the hottest around. Everyone threw glances at her and my smile got bigger and bigger by every moment that passed.

After some shots, Melody dragged me to the dance floor. She was dancing in front of me, my hands on her hips, our bodies pressed together. The music made us move in sync and it felt amazingly good to have Melody moving. I turned her around to me and she laid her arms around my neck. The drinks made me braver and my hands slipped down to her butt, squeezing it lightly. She smirked at me, pressing her body on mine. The songs changed, but all I see was Melody. She was so damn hot and dishy and she was all mine. I leaned down and kissed her and I didn't care who would see it or take a picture or tell the press or anything. She was mine and I should be able to kiss her whenever I wanted to. Melody replied my kiss and I squeezed her butt.

When I looked up again, I could see Melara and Chaz dancing just like us. Further away, Lauren was sitting at the bar, checking her phone. Chaz was standing a few meters away, talking to Matt, who shook his face with a serious expression before answering something harsh. I wrinkled my forehead.

"What's wrong?" Melody cried to get my attention.

I looked down and asked, "What's wrong with them?"

I turned her around and she looked at the bar.

"What the hell, Chaz? She was only talking to the bartender to get a drink, not his number!" Matt said and Chaz shook his head no. Oh, not again. Lauren checked her phone, typing something and I turned around to Justin.

"Chaz is being a jealous dick again," I shouted so he would understand me. Justin nodded and grimaced.

"Do you want to talk to her?" he asked and I nodded with a sigh.

I grabbed his hand and we passed Chris and Melara while walking to the bar. Justin made his way to my brother and Lauren's boyfriend, while I walked up to my sister.

I got the attention of the bartender and said, "Two of those, please," pointing to the empty glass of my sister. The handsome man nodded and turned around.

"Hey," I said, laying a hand on my sister's knee. She looked up from her phone, an empty expression in her eyes. "What happened?"

She shrugged her shoulders and said, "The same bullshit as usual. I thought he would change when we used this vacation as a couple therapy."

I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Lauren, I-" I started, but she shook her head.

"I know it was stupid. I just- I really believed in this. I thought he'd be the perfect guy for me, but... I can't do this anymore."

Lauren looked so tired and I bit my lip. I started nodding and my sister looked past me. I turned my head and faced the bartender.

"Here you go, ladies," he said and placed our drinks in front of us.

I smiled at him and said, "Thank you. Please add it to the bill of Bieber."

He nodded and winked at us, before he turned away. I grabbed my drink and Lauren grabbed her glass with a sigh.

"He's cute, right?" I asked and she shrugged her shoulders.

"Blue eyes and very short blonde hair? Not my type."

I rolled my eyes and we clinked glasses, before I took a deep sip. The sweet taste of strawberries and the bitter one of the alcohol danced on my tongue and I squinted my eyes with a smile. When I opened them again, I noticed that Lauren had already emptied her glass and pushed it away from her. She unlocked her phone screen and typed something in.

"Who is it?" I cried and she looked up.

"Hailey. She wants to know what we're doing," she answered and shrugged her shoulders. Obviously her phone was working and she didn't forget her charger, so why wasn't she answering Zayn?

"I wish Zayn was here. He'd absolutely know what to tell you right now..." I said and she froze. "I'm so bad at this, sorry."

"As you can see, I'm good with and without him. I'm doing great on my own," she said sarcastically and ran a hand trough her hair. I took another sip of my drink and nodded.

She was mad at him, but only because he couldn't be there to talk and help her solve their relationship problem. She was mad at him, because she missed and needed him. And Zayn was mad at himself, because he knew what she was going trough, but couldn't help her.

"Didn't Justin say something about a second party?" she asked and changed the topic.

"Um, yeah. Do you want to go?"

"Definitely. I'm tired of these people and the drinks are too cheap and too soft."

I nodded, emptied my glass and looked into the direction of my boyfriend. Justin was shaking his head, while Matt laughed at something.

Chaz had his arms crossed and said, "I'm just- I'm just really scared of losing her, okay?"

"I think you've already did," Matt answered and patted his shoulder. "I'm sick of hearing this and I'm with you guys for- what? Twenty-four hours?"

Justin's gaze flickered into my direction and caught my eye. He started smiling and I wiggled with my head. He nodded shortly and made his way to us.

Justin laid an arm around my shoulders and asked, "How are you, Lauren?"

"Perfect. Just perfect," she smiled and his body vibrated as he laughed. "Let's go to the second party, yeah?"

Justin paid for our drinks and we drove to the beach house where the other party should take place. It was a huge place, a bit smaller than the club. It was right next to the sea and even a few people were swimming.

We showed the security our wristbands and each got a mark on the back of our hands. It wasn't like the club; the music was still loud, the light was dimmed, but this was a home. There were photographs of smiling people, furniture and even plants. It wasn't as crowded as in the club, but there were lots of people.

Justin got us some drinks, while Chris and Melara were already dancing again. Caitlin was flirting with one of the bartenders and some blonde girl asked Harry to dance. Matt, Lauren and Chaz waited with me for Justin to arrive and when he came back, he carried a tray with drinks.

"Finally," Matt said and we placed ourselves around a bar table. Lauren held up a glass and smiled at Justin.

"Thanks for-"

Suddenly, she hesitated and turned around. I watched as her little plastic cup fell to the ground and the liquor splashed on Justin shoes. He made a step back and my eyes slowly rose from the ground. With quick steps, my sister distanced herself from us, but stopped a few meters away from him, while he had a huge smile on his lips and watched every move she made. Oh my God.

Lauren stared at the boy who had called them and Melody had stiffened in my arm and was staring at the boy, too. Who was that?

"Evan?" Lauren asked incredulously. The boy, Evan, slowly came up to us and ran a hand through his brown hair. As he got closer, Lauren's eyes widened and she squealed, "Evan!"

They closed the gap between them and hugged. I threw a quick glance to Chaz, whose knuckles were white with exertion. I knew what he was thinking. He didn't know this guy, but obviously Lauren and him were pretty close, so this boy was a "danger" to their relationship.

"Hey," Evan said as they parted and I looked back to them again.

"What are you doing here?" Lauren asked with a broad smile.

"My family owns a vacation home around here. And when you told me that you'll be here, I just couldn't resist!" He grinned at her and she hugged him again. Then they came up to us.

"Hey Melody," he hugged Mel and she looked confused to Lauren.

Lauren smiled encouragingly, so she put her arms around him and just said, "Hey."

Then he walked up to me and asked, "Justin Bieber?" I nodded and he smiled. "Evan Beck." I shook his hand, when Chaz cleared his throat. Evan turned to him and gave him his hand.

"My name's Evan." Chaz crossed his arms and stared at his outstretched hand, but Evan ignored his childish behavior and added, "And you are...?"

Chaz went to Lauren, stood beside her and said, "Chaz Somers." He put one of his arms around her. "Lauren's boyfriend."

Evan said, "Ah, yeah. I've heard of you." He chuckled and Chaz looked like he was about to burst with jealousy and anger.

Lauren cleared her throat and moved away from him and picked up two glasses. When she gave one to Evan, Mel shook her head and said, "Come on, Justin. Let's dance." She took my hand and pulled me behind her.

Hours later we were still on the dance floor and danced to Flo Rida's "Good Feeling". The music and alcohol was pumping trough my veins and I had a huge smile on my face.

After some time, Mel asked, "Shall we go out?"

I nodded and we left the hot area. The night was cooling down and one could even see some stars.

"Finally some time for us," I said and Melody laughed, while she put her hands around my neck.

I kissed her and knew I never wanted to do anything else.

But then someone tore us apart.

"Hey!" Mel protested and we opened our eyes at the same time.

In front of us stood Chaz and asked, "Have you seen Lauren?"

Mel sighed and said, "Don't worry, she's probably dancing-"

Chaz cut her and said, "She's not here. I've searched everywhere!"

"Chaz, you really have to stop acting like she's your property, because she is not. Leave her some space, she needs to breathe."

"I know and I try to work on my, um, problem, but-"

"Work on your problem? You were mad at the club!"

"Yeah, but this time she knows this guy and I just have this feeling..."

Mel ran a hand trough her hair and took a deep breath. "Okay. I'll help you looking out for her, but I bet she's okay."

I noticed her annoyed undertone and smiled briefly. Even though she was extremely pissed off with Chaz' behavior, she agreed.

We kissed briefly and I wished, "Good luck."

She rolled her eyes and said, "Thanks."

Inside, I told Chaz that I would look upstairs while he should look around here, but he shook his head firmly. He said, "We better look together." I sighed and nodded.

Together we went upstairs, checked every room and found nothing. Below we asked a few guests, but also those had neither seen Lauren nor Evan.

I feared the worst, after all, I knew this boy and I have never trusted him. In addition Lauren wasn't in the best mood today...

Meanwhile, Chaz went ahead and rattled the last door.

"It's locked," I suggested, but he just shook his head.

He turned to me and said, "The door's just jammed."

Then he pushed it open and we were taken by surprise in the doorway. The room was huge; Chaz and I stood at the beginning of a short flight of stairs and looked at the spectacle, which has offered us a few meters away from us.

Evan was on Lauren and kissed her neck while she was laughing all the time and her eyes were closed. His brown hair caressed her face and she put her hands on his back to pull him closer. Chaz and I were unable to do anything. We were simply shocked.

Slowly I looked to Chaz and he said, "Lauren..."

I looked back at Evan and Lauren as they separated and glanced at us. Their eyes were neither shocked nor terrified. Lauren had a strange smile on his lips and Evan's hand was tight around her waist.

I looked back to Chaz and it seemed like he would realize what was happening here, because now a vein began to pulsate on his head when he yelled, "What the hell is this, Lauren? I knew that my jealousy wasn’t unfounded!"

I looked at my sister and she giggled again and said, "Oh, come on, Chaz. Just because you have too little self-esteem, you don't need to project this directly to me."

Now Evan giggled and we just stared at each other.

"Wow," I said and Lauren laughed. "You knew perfectly well that kind of relationship between us two wouldn't be forever... You know, I need a real man, someone like Evan. Not a little boy."

I looked at Chaz, who was staring at her blankly. "What?"

I looked back at my sister. "Oh, Chaz, don't deceive yourself," she said and began to giggle again.

Chaz took a few steps toward her and shook his head. "Oh man, are you fucking joking? I've had enough. That's it, it's over!" With these words he turned and walked briskly out of the room.

"Chaz," I called, but he slammed the door behind him.

I looked back at Lauren and she shrugged her shoulders as she said, "Okay, see you tomorrow!"

Now she giggled again and Evan laughed out loud. I looked at her with narrowed eyes.

"Have you lost your mind? Lauren, that was Chaz! I know that you were about to end it, but you could've talked it out!" I went up to her and she was still giggling. "Look at me!" She looked away, giggling.

I shouted, "Damn it, Lauren! Look at me and shut the fuck up!"

She abruptly stopped and looking at me.

Her Eyes... Her pupils took almost a whole of her iris.

I whispered in shock, "Are you... high?"

She giggled again and Evan said with a laugh, "Yeah, we both!"

Together they were still laughing and I asked, "Where did you get the stuff from?"

Evan took casually a bag from his jacket and threw it to me. The bag was transparent and in it was green stuff and a few pills. I tossed the bag and took Lauren's hand.

I pushed Evan away and said, "Keep your hands off her!"

"Melody, it's okay!" Lauren pushed me away and went to Evan. "I'm going to stay with him."

"Oh hell no, you're not!"

I took her hand again and dragged her out of the house. I dragged her to the beach and there was Justin.

He smiled and said, "You found her! I've just seen Chaz, but he's already gone..." He looked at me closely. "Hey- everything okay?"

"Nothing's okay! Can you please bring her to the hotel? I'll stay here and tell the others about it. Then I try to get a taxi and be right with you, okay?"

Justin took a deep breath and then smiled. "Sure."

We kissed and then he laid his arm around and said, "Come with me."

She stared at him and said, "Oh my God, Justin, since when do you have blue eyes? "

I took a deep breath and turned around. I had to find the others.

I went through the house and only found Caitlin. Should I talk to her? I guessed so. We hadn't met or talked since the day Selena broke up with Justin after she caught us... I sighed and walked towards her.

She looked at me. "Yes? What do you want?"

"Um, have you seen the others? Justin and Lauren are already gone and I just wanted to-"

She interrupted me. "I don't give a damn whether you, Justin or your sister go. Why are you telling me all this?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me? What is your problem?"

Caitlin stood up from her barstool and crossed her arms. "You are my problem. You come here, invade my environment and take everything you want. And still you act like Ms. Innocent, a poor little girl who isn't able to hear a thing. You're pissing me off."

I stared at her blankly. "What?"

"I know exactly what you're doing here, I can see trough your masquerade. You hear everything. You just want attention, but you know what you get from me? A new nickname!" She smiled at me nastily and now stressing each syllable. "The office slut. You chat boys up and get off with them. Little Ms. Innocent, tz." She laughed while I tried to stay calm.

"What the hell is wrong with you? That's not true at all! I really cannot hear anything!"

Caitlin rolled her eyes and said, "Come on, Melody. No one around us knows me or you. You can stop with your little game."

"You are absolutely insane..."

Caitlin laughed. "Oh, come on. You think you're perfect, but you know what? You know what I think of you? You are an absolute spoiled bitch who is also ugly and fat." She smiled at me. "Have a good evening!"

Caitlin spun around and disappeared into the crowd. I was left speechless.

What the hell was happening? What was wrong with today?

I kept looking in the crowd after the others and wanted to concentrate on my search, but Caitlin last sentence wouldn’t leave my head. "You are an absolute spoiled bitch who is also ugly and fat." Before, I had known Justin I would've insulted her or started a fight... But now... now I got mad self-doubt. Was she right?

I found Melara and Chris right away and told them that we wanted to go, because I wouldn't feel good. They nodded and continued to dance. Then I found Candice and Matt together at the bar. I told them the same thing and they also nodded and wished speedy recovery. Chaz had already left, so I just had to tell Harry about it. No one knew where he was, so I started again with the search. Upstairs, where was a lot less going on, I passed a mirror and stopped dead.

Was that really me?

My hair was disheveled and the dress-stressed. I turned to the side and pulled it smoothly.

Caitlin was right. I had actually gained weight. I tried to remember when that happened... The only thing I remembered was when I kicked out Dan, realized Justin was right and cried alone in my room with some sweets...

I ran into the bathroom and shut the door. I stood in front of the big mirror and pulled the dress.

In fact... I really was fat.

Quite clearly I saw the belly, who wasn't there a few months ago. My legs also seemed wider to me. I dropped the dress again and looked at me closely. Among my eyes were dark circles and I just looked like shit. Like I would've been on parties the last weeks and hadn't slept a single moment. How did I dare to sleep with Justin when I was like that?

The alcohol and the newly created self-doubt joined forces and hit me with its full force. I fell down crying and hated myself for everything. I hated myself, because Caitlin was right. I hated myself, because I didn't deserve Justin at all. I hated myself, because I wasn't good enough. I wasn't even able to hear a thing!

A few minutes passed and slowly I stood uo, breathing in and out carefully.

"Everything's okay," I kept telling myself, but when I looked in the mirror, I almost fainted: I looked worse! I took a deep breath and then washed my face. I put some make up on with the things that I found in the bathroom. Then I looked at the window. It was dark outside, but paper lantern light up the garden area; the leaves of the trees moved, so it was windy.

I opened it and sat down on the windowsill. The wind dried the rest of my tears and calmed me. With eyes closed, I sat there and just wanted to think about nothing. In my head I was looking for a memory that had made me happy, who had made me self-conscious. I thought of the moment when Candice had shown Lauren and me a video of Cheerleaders for the first time and we dreamed to become just as pretty and popular as them. Even when I had lost my hearing a few years later, Lauren and I didn't stopped dreaming to become cheerleaders in the US. I thought of the hard work and training and how it paid off...

After some time I was largely back to normal and rose from the windowsill to close the window. When I had just closed it, I looked out and got the second shock: Harry kissed the girl that had asked him to dance!

I shouted his name, but apparently the music was too loud, so I ran out of the bathroom and pushed me past dancing guests. Finally I arrived at the two lovebirds and tore them apart.

"Hey," snapped the girl. I ignored her and continued looking at Harry.

"Harry, what are you doing? You have a girlfriend at home!"

He laughed, "So what? She also has a boyfriend, so..."

He approached the girl again, but I pushed him in the opposite direction.

"What do you mean by "So what"? What is going on with all of you?"

He snorted, "What's your problem?"

"My problem is that you’re making out with this- this..." I looked at the girl next to me. She stared at me still angry and ran her fingers through her blonde hair. "This chick although you have a beautiful girlfriend at home!"

Harry just shook his head and said, "Tam has little time for me, she is living the collage life and has left everything behind. Do you think, you of all people, you're something better?"

"You and Justin made out all the time, even though you were in a relationship..."

"That was completely different," I protested, but he shook his head again.

"It was exactly the same! You think you're insanely great and pretty and every boy would jump in front of a train for you, but you know what? That's what I used to think of you! I was madly in love with you!"

I stared at him and whispered, "What? I- I didn't..."

"But then I got to know you and realized what you really are: a conceited bitch that chats up every boy, carries him into your bed, just to kick him out the next morning, because then you had what you wanted! I guess you already fucked Justin!"

I couldn't believe that Harry, my best friend, called me these names. I reached out and slapped him.

"Have you lost your mind? I'm just trying to save your relationship! You know what, fuck you, you stupid asshole!"

I turned around and ran towards the street. Tears burned in my eyes as I dialed the number of a cab company.
