My Sister's Cancer

This is my point of view of the events following the diagnosis of my younger sister's cancer. From December to May.

April 2014

A month that went by really smoothly. The end of Emilie’s treatment was near and all of us were counting the days until everything would be back to normal. On April 16th, Holy Saturday, Emilie would finally get out of the hospital, winner of a fierce battle. Regrettably, she had to stay in another night due to the fact that the chemotherapy wasn’t completely gone from her system. I was very angry and sad that night, because I’d been so keen on the idea of the whole family walking up on Easter morning, just like the Christ’s resurrection, new and liberated of a burden. But no. More lines had been drawn.

Easter ended up one of the happiest days of my life. Joy like a raging fire had spread through me the second Emilie came home. I hugged her tightly, crying as I told her it was finally over.
