Memories of my Brother

I decided I would challenge myself to write a poem for my brother every day this month and this is the result. It is rough and rugged and it is a mere work-in-progress but I'm just writing down stuff I want to say.

16. XVI

I got lost in the clutter of your mind
And the geography between us changed
So that lives were dissected by chasms
And you sort of forgot how to cross them
And so did I
Because our relationship was like
An unruled bedroom
With garments and books stringing across it
That seemed to settle deeper into place
The longer we left them
And while we procrastinated
Over my sistering of you
And your brothering of me
I felt the tectonic shift
Of our bones lurching away from each other.
We never made volcanos,
You and I;
We never came close enough to touching
