"Hello Miss Zeto!"
"How are you doing?"
"We have new singers waiting to be accepted Miss Zeto!"
As I walked into the corridors of Zeto Records I was bombarded with salutations, questions, and statements stating that band and singers were still waiting to be accepted into the record deal. I tried to answer everyone but, of course, a few didn't get answers due to the fact of me being surrounded by many employees. As I continued walking through the hallways collecting paperwork from secretaries, I listened to the sound of my stilettoes clicking against the marble floors.
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of dressing up in business attire but father always thought that it gave the company a professional look, which I agreed on some part. He would always babble on how it would make a good impression to other record deals and companies wanting to connect with us. I sigh at the thought of my father. To say that I didn't miss my Dad was not only an understatement but a lie. Usually, if my dad was here I wouldn't get bombarded like I just did, he would and to say he is way much better at handling stress. Believe it or not, I can breakdown in a matter of seconds and turn into a disaster as if a tornado had passed, but for my sake, I make sure to never have a breakdown in front people. That would just result in people pitying me or even thinking that I need help with even the smallest things.
I opened the doors leading to my office and made sure to close them as fast as I could so I could get away from the hectic mess behind. I continued walking until I reached my secretary's desk and looking down at her waiting for her to finish her phone call.
"Sorry Miss! That was Mr. Williams calling in to inform you that they would be coming in a tad late." I nodded at the news and shrugged my shoulders. Mr. Williams was our advertising sales Representative along with his wife Mrs. Williams. We didn't need them today but they wanted to get a head start. "Oh, and 5 Seconds of Summer is in room 13 Miss Zeto!" I smiled and thanked her.
"You know Delilah, I might be your "Boss" but it doesn't mean you can't be laid back and have fun." I always hated how people would always give me high respect, (not that I didn't like that. Power is a nice thing to have on your side.), strictness, and boringness. Although I feel that I have a need to let them stay as that because then they will lose respect and not obey commands, and not take advantage. Delilah though, she's different. She's of the age of only 23 years old and always tries to have fun except when I'm around. I guess she feels as if I don't tolerate happiness even though I tell her every damn day that its cool to play around in the office. Anyways, I'm stuck with her until I fire her, which is not going to be anytime soon since she is such great assistance, but she's the only one that I show my real side too; the sensitive, stress-freak, and not-perfect side.
She smiled and agreed then shoos me toward the meeting and recording room but not before sending me a wink towards my way. I stuck out my tongue and then chuckled as I turned around. The boys were going to perform 'I Miss You' by Blink 182 to see if they were going to be signed unto the record deal, which I'm sure will happen. When my Father told me that they were going to live at the house I quickly searched them up and listened to a few covers and originals that they performed and if I may say so they do know how to rock on.
As I approached the door, I heard voices speaking slightly lower than usual, and I being the nosy person I am I turned the knob quietly and entered quickly so I wouldn't be seen. I made my way into a corner and listened to their conversation.
Do you think they'll like our music and you know like make it?"
"Look whoever is going to be deciding whether we're signed or not will probably like our music. Jackie even said so, so don't worry..." Luke preached but then got cut off by Michael breaking into the jam of my Disney childhood; Hakuna Matata, from the Lion King.
The boys erupted into laughter and I even chuckled at their randomness. I decided to scurry away from the corner and make my appearance which left the boys stunned and confused.
Jackie! What are you doing here?" Calum asked while changing his voice from excitement to confusion in a matter of seconds.
Before I was even able to respond the door barged open to reveal Mr. Williams in a slick black suit and Mrs. Williams in a beautiful white button up shirt with a deep ocean blue blazer layered on top and a matching skirt ending a tad above from the knee. Her outfit paired well with her beautifully tanned skin and matched my outfit except mine was a dark plum color. I woahed at their appearance and clapped for them for being on time although they got caught on traffic. The walked over to the group and greeted us which we all politely returned. I introduced each of the boys to the couple and then offered to start the recording.
"Wait but who is going to sign us off to the record deal if we pass?" Ashton asked while Michael butted in asking who was going to assess them.
A smirk was evident on my lips and I pointed to myself.
"Your looking at her. Now, go to your places! Chop chop!"
They scurried inside the recording box after looking at each other. After getting the instruments and equipment ready the boys sung their lungs out. As they ended the song the Williams, who were on the Lazy Boy chairs listening attentively, clapped and nodded their heads in approval when I turned around to them. I turned back to the direction of the boys and decided to have fun. I rose my eyebrows and faced them through the soundproof glass window. I pulled my best sad and disappointed face while I stood up and said through the microphone to come out followed by a heavy sigh. Their faces automatically dropped and started to whisper among each other while leaving the room behind.
As they came out I noticed how nervous and hopeless they looked. I couldn't help but to notice Luke rocking back and forth while fidgeting with his feet. Calum and Michael were tense and tapping their foot in the floor, while Ashton was playing with his hair and fingers.
"Okay look, I'm going to tell you guys the truth, alright?" Yet, I received no answer whatsoever, so I continued. "The truth is, that I think you guys left me death." I took a long breath and finished the sentence that I was anticipating for. "That's how killer and amazing you guys did!"
As those final words left my mouth all movement froze in the entire room, causing a great silence. After the boys took in what I said they let out a heavy breath. I didn't even notice how tense they were until now.
Out of the blue, the boys jumped and cheered around the room, hugging each other. I smiled at the sight of another group of people happy that they got a career in what the love to do. All of the sudden, I feel hands around my waist and my entire weight being lifted off from the ground, and I look up to see Luke twirling me in circles with a huge grin on his face. I let out a few giggles which took me by a complete surprise due to the fact that I hardly giggle. My eyes were closed while Luke was rotating our body's around until I decided to open them. Oh boy and was that a mistake not only did I open my eyes but I opened the opportunity for Luke dropping me after we locked eyes. I landed right on my ass after we both noticed what exactly was happening; we were having an intimate moment.
I would be lying if I said I was disappointed that he dropped and let go of me. I was actually more than happy when that happened, because first of all I don't want to like him in more than a friend way, little love him.
As if on cue, all the boys stopped cheering to see what was happening which followed by Luke helping me up and sending an awful amount of apologies my way which I accepted yet assured him everything was perfectly fine.
