"Oh. This makes sense now." I say.
"Yeah. He can kinda see figures. But that's all." Luke says.
"So what are we gonna do?" I ask Calum.
"I was thinking we could just..talk. Listen to music. Luke has to stay though. Sorry." He says and smiles a little.
"That's okay." I smile at Luke. "Are we like all friends now or..."
"Yeah. It's too late to turn back now he hasn't stopped talking about you since you came into the shop earlier." Luke chuckles as he helps Calum walk back towards the couch.
I giggle and sit next to Calum on the couch. "Where are you?" He asks and pats the opposite side of the couch.
I smile and tap his shoulder. "Here."
He turns to me and pokes my arm. "Found her!"
Luke chuckles and sits across from us. "Well..tell us about yourself Ariana." He says and stares at Calum then at me.
"Um. There's really nothing to tell. I'm not very interesting." I say.
"Oh c'mon! There has to be something." Luke presses.
"Uh...I like to skateboard." I say.
"Ooh. A skater girl!" Luke exclaims and pokes Calums chest.
I smile and Calums eyes move down my body and to my chest. Even if he can't see I feel uncomfortable. I move over a bit and look down.
"Calum. Your staring." Luke warns and smiles at me weakly. "Sorry he's not used to being around girls."
"S-sorry. Ariana, I'm sorry. God I'm so stupid." He face palms himself. "This is why I don't have a girlfriend."
"No. No its okay." I say and awkwardly rub his back.
He shakes his head. "You know..you should just leave." He says.
"Just leave." He cuts me off.
"Calum, what the hell are you doing?" Luke asks.
I get up off the couch. "N-no it's...it's okay.." I say quietly.
"No. Don't leave Ariana. Calum. Don't do this." Luke says lowly and glares at Calum even though he can't see.
"Luke. It's fine..I can go if he wants me to go." I whisper.
"I..okay. Promise me you'll try again with him though, he needs somebody like you." Luke says softly.
I nod a little and quickly walk towards the door. "Bye Luke. Bye Calum." I say.
Neither of them answer. Calum looks towards me and frowns a little as I shut the door.
I get in the car and sit there for a couple minutes. Why did I feel upset? I don't even really know.
I guess I feel bad for him. He is blind after all. But why did he just..kick me out?
I see Luke come out of Calums house and he walks towards my car.
I look over at him and roll down the window. "Yes?" I ask quietly, trying to hide the hurt in my voice.
"He wants you to come back in." He leans into the window. "He thinks he messed up with you."
"He did." I say lowly before covering my mouth with my hand. "Uh-sorry. I-I'll go back inside."
Luke sighs and I shut off my car and open the door.We walk up to the house and he opens the door for me again.
"Luke? Is that you?" Calum says.
"Yeah. She came too. Don't fuck it up this time." Luke says.
"Ariana? Where are you? Come here. I'm so sorry. I just...I always screw things up." He says.
I walk slowly towards him and sit next to him. I set my head in my hands. "I'm next to you."
He turns the opposite way. "I'm sorry."
"Other way." I say and smile a little.
He turns to me. "I'm sorry." He repeats.
I look up at him. "Its okay."
After a while of all of us talking,Calum gets up from the couch and walks towards the kitchen. He holds his arms out like a zombie to make sure he doesn't run into anything.
"Whatcha doin mate?" Luke calls as I giggle.
"I'm hungry." Calum replies.
"Do you need help?" Luke asks and smiles as Calum bumps his hip into the counter.
"No! I wanna do it!" He holds his hip. Luke looks at me.
"Go help him." He whispers so only I can hear.
I nod and get up, walking over to Calum. He walks towards the table and I quickly stand in front of him, gently pushing on his chest. "That way." I whisper.
"I don't know exactly." He says and I grab his hand.
"C'mon, I'll help you look."
"Luke...pssssst...Luke she's holding my hand. What do I do?" Calum says.
I giggle and Luke rolls his eyes playfully. "Hold her hand back you idiot!" Luke whisper yells like I can't hear.
"Okay..okay." Calum intertwines our fingers. I look down at our hands and smile. "You know, I'm not hungry anymore." He whispers to me.
"Okay, we can go sit down then." I whisper back. "If you want." I add.
He nods and we walk back to the couch, me mostly leading him.
I sit down a little closer to him than I was before and set our hands in my lap.
I see Calum smile a little. "Hey you guys should sleep over. Like a slumber party!" Calum says.
Luke laughs and nods. "That would be fun."
"Okay. Yeah I'll stay." I say.
"Do you need to get..clothes or whatever?" Calum asks and squeezes my hand.
"Yeah I'll go later." I reply.
"Calum, you idiot, let her wear your clothes." Luke sighs
"Oh. Right. Do you want to just..borrow something of mine?" Calum asks shyly.
"If that's okay." I place my other hand over our intertwined ones.
"Yeah..do you want to change now?" He asks and looks down at our hands. Well..kinda.
"I can if you want me to. It's only 6:57...almost seven." I tell him.
He nods and stands up. "Luke..can you take us to my room? Please."
Luke stands up and grabs Calums wrist. I keep my hand in his as we walk up the stairs and into Calums room.
"There's a drawer over there." Calum points. "My shirts are in the top drawer. And I don't really have pajama pants."
"That's okay. I'll wear these shorts." I say and take my hand away from his slowly.
He nods and sits on his bed. "Do you mind if I stay in here?" He asks softly.
"W-well..I.." I trail off. "I just...I don't really like myself." I say quietly.
"Why not?" He asks sadly and frowns.
"I.." I choke out. "Please don't make me..." I bite my lip, holding back tears.
"What's wrong Ariana?" He asks and stands up, walking directly towards me.
"Calum please..." I whisper. "Please don't make me talk about it."
"O-okay you don't have to talk about it." He whispers and brushes his fingertips on my arm.
I jump a little and I feel a tear stream down my cheek. "C-can I change?" I ask quietly.
He nods and looks all over my face. "Yes."
I back away from him and walk over into his bathroom. I quickly change into his shirt and use mine to wipe my tears. I sob quietly and continue wiping my cheeks.
"Ariana." Calum says and taps on the door. "I have good hearing, I can hear you. Please let me in."
"I'm okay." I choke out and open the door.
His hands reach for my cheeks. "No you're not. You've been crying. I'm sorry..if I said something."
"No it wasn't you." I whisper. "I'm okay Calum."
"Okay. Just..please don't cry anymore." He whispers back.
I nod a little and walk into his chest.
He stumbles back a little at first before wrapping his arms around my waist and holding me close to him.
"You guys ready?" Luke chuckles behind Calum.
"Yeah." Calum whispers and turns around, keeping me in his arms.
I pull away from him and grab his hand, leading him down the stairs.
"So what do you guys wanna do?" Calum asks cheerfully as we sit back down on the couch.
I shrug. "I don't know."
"Luke..what should I do?" Calum asks.
"What do you mean Cal?" Luke whispers and smiles at me.
"I don't know." Calum says. "Like, what should I do and say? Luke I don't know what to say."
"Just be yourself Calum." Luke says quietly and pats Calum on the shoulder. Calum nods and turns back to me.
"Hi." He whispers. He pats my arm. "Hi." He repeats.
"Hi." I giggle and set my hand on his knee.
"Luke! She touching my knee! Is that good?" He says.
"Yes Calum, that's good." Luke chuckles and rolls his eyes.
"I want to hang out with you again." He tells me.
"I do too." I whisper.
"Let's go to sleep. Do you want to sleep on the couch or floor?" He asks.
"Calum...you're so dumb." Luke chuckles.
"What?" Calum asks. "What did I say?"
"I'll sleep on the couch." I interrupt them.
Calum nods and smiles.
"Okay. See you in the morning." He says and Luke sighs, leading Calum up to his room.
Luke walks back downstairs a few minutes later and shakes his head. "Sorry about..him. He doesn't really get the whole relationship thing."
"It's okay." I reply. "Really, it's okay."
He nods. "Do you mind of I sleep on the floor in here?" He asks quietly.
"Go ahead." I reply. "Are you trying to hook him and I up?"
"Kinda. He just..he really needs someone else in his life ya know?" He asks.
"He's cool. I like him." I say. "I also have a single friend. I could return the favor."
"No, I don't really need a relationship right now." Luke says. "Thanks for the offer though."
"You're welcome. But why wouldn't you want a relationship?"
"Me and Calum have been friends for a long time. His mom asked me to watch over him while they were gone for a month. Some business trip. I'm always with him..and I don't need any distractions." He explains.
"That's actually a really good point." I say. "When will they be back?"
"Three weeks. Maybe then..I will think about the whole girlfriend thing. But until then I have Calum. And now you." He says.
I smile and nod. "I had an abusive ex...he would yell at me, saying I wasn't good enough. I was worth nothing. He picked out every little flaw I had. He would hit me. He.." I trail off and take a deep breath.
"Ariana..I'm so sorry. Calum isn't like that. He..he can't see. He doesn't know what you look like, aside from the way I described you. He wouldn't do that." He says quietly.
I look over at him. "He touched me. He always touched me. He tried to have sex with me. I..I didn't let him." I finish without answering him.
"He..Ariana. I am so so sorry. I can't believe anyone would..do that." He whispers.
"If Calum finds out..." I trail off.
"I don't know what he would do." Luke admits.
"Can I go up there?" I ask him.
He nods and I stand up before walking up the stairs and into Calums room. He's laying in bed with his eyes fixated on the ceiling fan. "Calum?" I say softly.
"Ariana." He replies. I walk over to his bed.
"Can I sleep in here?" I ask.
"You..you want to sleep in here?" He asks quietly.
"Yes..please." I whisper.
He nods and I crawl into his bed.
I lay nearly on the edge because I don't want to crowd him.
"Goodnight." I whisper to him.
