9. At Work Again

Charlotte's POV

I woke up with the sun in my face.

Where was I? I felt a pair of arms around my waist, I rolled over to see that it was Calum. I must've fallen asleep. I reached over for my phone on the nightstand, it was  4:02pm. It was  Friday and I had work soon. I tried sliding out of Calum's arms but he just pulled me closer.

"Cal," I whispered running a hand through his hair.

He groaned and opened an eye. "I have to go to work," I continued.

He let me go, rolled onto his back and then began to stretch. I got up and grabbed my bag from the floor.

"I'll see you later, okay?" I whispered  giving him a kiss on the cheek.

He nodded and closed his eyes again. I walked out of the room only to almost trip on Luke, he was sprawled out in the middle of the hallway. He must've slept really late last night. I left the house and went next door to mine to get ready for work.

It was now  8:32pm a few hours before I could leave, when a familiar pair of boys walked in.

"Charlotte!" Ashton yelled running over to the counter like an excited 5 year old.

"Hey Ash," I replied in a enthusiastic voice.

Calum walked over and began explaining what they were doing here.

" we want to take you out," Calum started.

"To just hang out maybe get some food or something," Ashton continued.

It sounded as if they had rehearsed what they were going to say. It seemed like it would be hella fun hanging out with them tonight, but with what happened with Calum? I was not ready to talk about that. I don't even know how I feel about him. It was probably just the alcohol, I don't want to even think about it.

"Oh well I don't know," I replied motioning to the nearly empty café,"I mean the place is pretty packed."

They looked pretty disappointed at my reply. Calum was about to say something when my cell phone rang. I pulled it out of my pocket and answered.

"Hello?" I had forgotten that it was on speaker so my manager's voice boomed out of the tiny iPhone speaker.

"Hi, its me. I just wanted to let you know that you could leave work early if you want. You've been working pretty hard this week. We don't usually have a lot of business  on Friday. Just tell Maddie to lock up."

After hearing this Calum and Ashton looked intrigued.

"Oh really? Thank you!" I replied not sounding as happy as I should be.

We said our goodbyes and I hug up.

"So about taking you out," Ashton continued,"you want to come?"

I mean the odds of me finding anything else to do tonight were really small. But I didn't want to talk to Calum yet.

"Where are Luke and Michael," I asked avoiding their question.

"At home playing FIFA," Calum answered.

I could just spend my night with them but they didn't have to know that.

"Can you just take me home for now," I sighed gathering my things.

"So you're not going," Ashton frowned.

"No. I don't even know where you two want to take me," I replied.

Calum explained,"we wanted to go clubbing and we though that you might want to come with."

I thought for a minute, I couldn't think of an excuse. Oh wait! The party!!

"We have a party  tomorrow remember?"

"Yeah but there is no such thing as too much partying," Ashton reasoned.

He had a good point.

"Please, just take me home. I'll go another time I promise."

I really was not in the mood to go out tonight. I walked out from behind the counter and Ashton slung his arm around me as we all walked to his car.

Ashton stopped outside my house,"so you're sure you don't want to go?"

"Yes Ash. Thanks for inviting me, both of you," I said turning to Calum who was in the passengers seat.

He smiled and messed up my hair.

"You suck," I laughed hitting him playfully.

"Whatever," he smirked.

I said goodbye and I got out of the car. I started walking towards my house. They hadn't left yet. Were they waiting for me to get in? I reached the door and unlocked it but before I put a foot in I turned, waved, then walked in. A little bit after I heard the car drive off. Thank god.
