I stare at them, then turn to Allen. He looks on the verge of tears. Those bitches. I turn back to stare at them. I tap my foot.
“W-what?” Alfred asks.
“Nothing, I’m just waiting for an answer, an excuse, something.” I say.
“I-I can explain.”
“Good, that’s what I’m waiting for.”
“I was looking for you and then, um, I found her and she said she was looking for, uhh, y-you.” He says, pointing to Allen. “Then, uhh, she turned down this alley, I asked why and umm, she attacked me, then uhh, you came. Yeah.”
“Really? It was her fault?”
“Then why are you stuttering?”
“I-I don’t know if you’re mad-d?”
“Only guilty people stutter.”
“Or people who are scared!”
“You have a right to be, you cheated on me.”
“She kissed me!”
“But you didn’t pull away!”
“I was in shock.”
“In shock? For five minutes?”
“How do you know it was five minutes?”
“Because five minutes ago you texted me you found someone who was looking for your 2p.” I say, pulling out my phone and showing him the message.
“Well-well-well why should you be upset?!” He said, backing up a bit.
“Oh, I’m sorry, did you forget the whole fact that we’re dating?!”
“Well, it’s not like we ever kissed!”
“Between us officially going out, our date getting interrupted by drunk friends, marriage proposals and plannings, the actual wedding, which happened twice, and me getting stabbed while saving your ass, we haven’t had a whole lot of time to go on dates, no.”
“You could have stayed longer.”
“My parents would have gotten suspicious.”
“Well you know what got me suspicious? The fact that your cat can turn into a dude and is in love with you!”
“You are blowing this way out of proportion. I even told you not to get jealous! He’s a cat for heaven’s sake!!”
“You know, I’m actually not to blame for this! You’re a hysterical bitch!”
“And you’re a two-timing asswipe.”
“Well, I guess that settles it. We are over.” He says.
“Fucking finally.” I say. I turn and leave. But before I go the whole way, I turn to 2p America, grab his shirt, and kiss him. I flip America off, and say,”Suck on that, Jones.” I hightail it out of there. I get to Ly’s home, and flop down on the couch. She and Canny are probably off somewhere. I feel kinda bad about what just happened. I probably should have stuck around and helped Allen out. He seemed pretty heart broken, poor guy. Probably loved her. Now I feel like as bad of a person as my 2p. I sink my head down on my hands.
“Mich? What’s wrong, love?” I hear Eli say. He wraps his arms around me.
“Me and Al broke up.” I say.
“Oh, I’m sorry dearest, need a shoulder to cry on?”
I laugh at that. “Hun, I didn’t need a shoulder to cry on when my granny died, I don’t need one now. Besides, he’s just a boy.”
“Well, yes, but I thought you two were in love. Everyone did.”
“Well, I know for a fact I wasn’t. And considering that he broke up with me, AND he cheated on me, I’m guessing the feeling was mutual.”
“Huh. Well, I’m sorry nevertheless.”
“Thanks hun.” I say, petting behind his weird, cat ears. He purrs, and I kiss him on the cheek.
“Not that that wasn’t, er, enjoyable and very pleasant, but may I ask why? Was this a comfort? A thank you?”
“More of insurance.”
“Insurance for what?”
“That you don’t become an asshole.”
He smiles down at me. “No worries about that, dearest.”
We chill for a while after that. We watch the Princess Bride, and quote most of the movie. Just when we get to the fire swamp, my phone rings. I pause the movie, and pick it up. It’s JuJu.
“What’s up, cara puta?”
“Put the movie back oooooon.” Eli whines. I’m lying on the left side of the couch, and my feet are on Eli’s lap. I put my foot in his face to shut him up.
“Hey, where are you? Alf’s been at the bar for the last hour, and I think he’s about to go home with someone. Like, a one night stand.”
“And? Come get him!”
“Why, you’re already there. Besides, Eli and I were watching the Princess Bride.”
“Well, I’m not his girlfriend, so he’s not my responsibility.”
“Well, I’m not his girlfriend, so he’s not my responsibility either.”
“What?!?!” She shouts in my ear.
“Yowza, chica, chillax.” I say rubbing my ear.
“What do you mean he’s not your boyfriend?!”
“Oh man, did you seriously not know?” I ask.
“You didn’t tell me!”
“Yeah, but I figured he would tell Arty and he would tell you…”
“Rather than you tell me? You two were perfect for each other!”
“No, we were perfectly each other. Look, it’s been a tough day. Don’t yell at the injured girl, JuJu.”
“Right, sorry. Just… can you come get him home anyway?”
“No can do, mon ami. We didn’t end the relationship on good terms, he probably doesn’t want to see me when he’s trying to get laid.”
“Who’s trying to get laid?” Eli asks.
“Al. He’s like a cat in heat. No offense, of course.” I tell him, covering the mouthpiece.
“None taken, just don’t tell me how you know.”
“Lucky guess.” I say. “No experience.” I put the phone back up to my ear.
“Look, are you coming here or not?”
“Nope. I have a movie to watch. Later.” I say, hanging up before she starts talking again. I start the movie again because for once, Al isn’t my problem.
