Once I reached Luke's house, I saw him trying to balance himself on the small board.
"Thank god you're here! I'm dying on this thing." he laughed, flinging the board around.
"It's really easy to ride one, I've had lots of time to practice in California." I said and put his board on the ground. He got up onto it, holding my arm. I started to move down the road, him still gripping to my arm. He was starting to get balance, so I let go. He immediately jumped off.
"Why would you let go?" he asked. He seemed scared.
"You were doing good! Try again? Please?" I pouted and he stuck his tongue out. I squealed and helped him get the hang of it again. I let him go again and he was doing fine.
"Now I have to teach you how to turn. You basically just try to move your core and tilt your legs sort of. It's hard to explain, but you'll get the hang of it."
He tried to turn, falling so many times I'm surprised he didn't cry or anything. After awhile, me made his first actual turn. I ran over to him and hugged him tightly. As I tried to let go, his grip was strong. He wouldn't let go.
"Um, Luke?" I laughed.
"Oh, yeah.." he said and laughed nervously.
"Thanks for teaching me, it was fun except when I fell on my face." he said and grabbed his board.
"Let's go." I said, and we skated down the road all the way to a small café. We skated hand in hand, but just so he wouldn't fall. At least I think that's why.
The waitress took our order and we have her out menus back.
"So, when did you learn how to skate, Lucas?" Michael asked. They all agreed with the question.
"This morning. Ariana helped me." he smiled and everybody started to "Oooo!" and stuff like that.
Soon enough, our food came after a long conversation about how they make shoes to fit our feet perfectly. I dug in right away, getting many stares from my friends.
"What? Never seen an American girl eat so fast?" We all laughed and continued to enjoy our meal. Not after long, we had to leave and start to skate to the beach. It wasn't far from the café.
Skating was fun, feeling the breeze and getting time to enjoy life on a simple piece of wood or plastic. I looked around, my friends around me laughed as we talked and felt the air go through our hair. It just felt all right.
Our boards touched the sand, and we all face planted into the what you would think was soft ground. Laughing, we stood up and ran to the water.
Instead of going in the water, I sat down on my towel to get a decent tan. It was all going well until a slash of water hit my back. Why do I always get splashed?
"Come in the water!" Hollie begged and her and Dawn helped to pull me up.
"Hey! I was getting a nice tan!"
"Trust me, you'll have time for that." they laughed and pushed me into the water. I guess they were right. Michael, Calum, and Luke were already playing around with a beach ball in the water. We went over to meet with them and join in on the game.
"We want to play!" Dawn announced.
"I don't know if you girls can handle it." Calum said and smirked.
"It's a beach ball, how hard could it be?" I smiled and started to play the game. If wasn't hard at all, you just needed to keep it off the water without catching it. Typical game. As we were trying to get the ball, people would knock into each other.
It was all fine until I knocked into Luke and he caught me. Instead of the ball not touching the water, it did.
"You love birds ruined our game!" they laughed an got out of the water.
"Can I tan now?" I begged and they let me. I didn't keep my eyes off of them while tanning because I knew they would do something bad to me. I could sense it a mile away.
When we finally made it to Luke's house after the long and eventful day, he hugged me and thanked me.
"Hey, I had a question. I just don't want it to be awkward." he said and looked down at the ground. He was looking down, which means he's nervous.
"Go ahead, ask me!" I said, excited to hear what he had to say.
"Well I was just wondering if you wanted to grab some ice cream.. maybe go to the park." he was still looking at the concrete.
"Is that a date, Mr.Hemmings?" I smirked and made him look up.
"If you w-want it to be.." he trailed off. I nodded and gave him one last hug before I had to leave.
"I guess it's a date then."
