132. May 12th
When everything is still, watching and waiting,
Then silence falls upon us,
Smothering our land with no sound,
The stealthy weapon with which to fight.
Unpredictably it comes and goes,
When sound leaves silence always follows.
It cannot wait or even be late,
It comes at the going of noise.
Words explain thoughts but silence shows them,
Keeping quiet can convey a lot.
The absence of words often is wise,
To explain what could not be spoken.
Holding your tongue can be harder than shouting,
But worthwhile many a time.
Listen before speaking and evaluate,
The correct response to say, or not.
