A Poem a Day

During the year 2015 I have chosen to take on a challenge to write a poem everyday. I will try to put them all here everyday.

65. March 6th

A lone bird flying overhead,

Diving, gliding through the cloud.

A pair of wings keeping the soul not dead,

Singing to himself, the echo loud.

Not in a flock any more: rejected.

By himself with no company,

Depressed, disheartened and dejected,

Alone, scared, unaccompanied.

Not meaty enough to be

Shot down dead.

Not small enough to be

Hidden out of sight.

Not pretty enough to find

A mate.

Not stupid enough to feel

No pain.

Not thoughtful enough to fly

Far away.

Not mindless enough to give

Himself up.

Not loud enough to make

Himself heard.

Not quite enough to be

Totally ignored.

Not normal enough to fit

In a group.

Not different enough to be

Part of a fellowship.

The lone bird still flies ahead,

Pondering, questioning.

Thinking about his life,

Assessing it like an inspector.

Not part of a flock,

Not looking for a mate.

For now he lies,

Upon the floor dead!
