A Poem a Day

During the year 2015 I have chosen to take on a challenge to write a poem everyday. I will try to put them all here everyday.

208. July 27th

The trees have gone,

They won't return.

Only stumps are now left,

Of the once tall strong trees.

They have gone but their remains can be seen,

They have been cut down but not forgotten.

Their comrades cower away,

From the disease that spreads,

From the execution coming their way,

From the end for them.

Soon the hillside will be flattened,

Desolate and rid of trees, rid of trees.

Unsheltered out in the open

All protection gone.

Grass can grow and plants bloom,

The sun can rise and shine everyday,

But as for the trees,

Their leaves are dead and their wood burned.

"No matter, more trees are about,"

Shouts the fool allowed.

How mistaken, all is lost,

How mistaken, all is gone.

The trees have gone,

They won't return.
