"Get up." The man said as he threw something on top of me. I sat up slowly, and picked it up. It was a suit, a simple one piece. "Put that on." he said, and than turned around, and walked out of the room. The suit was extremely light, it was black had absolutely no color to it. It seemed to fit every curve on my body perfectly, and it was tight. It was extremely thin, and ,made me feel like I was naked whenever I wore it.
I walked out of the room, and he was sitting at the table eating already. The table was build for four people, but there were only two bowls on the table, one for him, and me.
He only looked up at me for a brief second, and then continued to eat. I looked into the bowl, and it didn't look very appetizing.
"What is this?" I asked sitting down very slowly.
"They made it, it has everything you need in a meal. Eat." He said. I picked p the spoon that was laid perfectly beside the bowl, and started to eat. The taste was something that I couldn't describe. It was nothing I expected. It tasted amazing, and made me want to eat it all day. It was a sweet fruit taste, but creamy at the same time. I must have finished the entire bowl before he had.
A couple minutes after eating it, I felt amazing, like I could do anything. My body felt energized, and ready to go.
I knew there was something different with my body, I could physically, and mentally feel it. The worst of all was hearing everything. I mean I could hear everything, things I didn't want to hear. It took over my mind sometimes, just listening to all of the different things around me, and sometimes it would be to much for me to even handle.
"So for the next couple weeks we are going to be testing your limits. See how long it will take to break you." The man said. I so badly wanted to know his name, but something told me it would be easier if I didn't know what it was.
The first thing he had me do was run on the track outside. It had snowed last night, which made the track a little less visible. I knew it must have been a loop, but it weaved its way all throughout the woods. In total it was 10km. I started, he literally told me to run until I felt like I couldn't anymore. I must had run that track all day. Sunrise, to sundown, and I didn't feel tired at all. I had apparently finished it in quite some time, because the soldiers that were watching me looked surprised. I could feel my body getting stronger with every minute that went by. I was fast, really fast, I am not talking Flash fast, but I could definitely out run any human.
He finally pulled me off of the track when the sun was starting to set. Once I stopped running, I could feel the tole that the run was taking on my body. Every inch of my body was killing me the exhaustion was the worst part. I felt like I could drink a lake.
"I need water." I said trying to be able to hold my own weight up. Then I could feel my legs start to cave, and I grabbed onto the closest thing to me, the little boy. Everything went black.
When I woke up I was laying in the bed in the training center. The man who was with me was sitting in the corner of the room waiting for me to wake up.
"What happened?" I asked. I looked down, and the suit that he had me wearing was off. I was in a sports bra, and short spandex. My body was covered in bruises. When I tried to move it felt like I had just gotten the shit kicked out of me.
"What's wrong with me?" I asked looking over at him.
"We didn't expect this to happen, but you are going to be fine, this is just going to delay your progress for a little while." He said still not answering my question.
"What's wrong with me?" I asked struggling to sit up on the bed.
"The virus is in its final stages of settling in, and bonding with your body. This is what is does in the final stage. You will feel very tired, and weak for the next couple weeks. The next week isn't going to be very fun for you." He said. I swear I had never seen a man with such little emotions.
He didn't hesitate, he just walked over to me, and scooped me up carrying me to the table where two bowls were already set out for us.
I looked over, and sure enough there was the little boy standing guard by the door. I took the first bite of the food, and it immediately made me feel stronger. I was still very weak and fragile. I looked over at the boy, he was watching us eat. I could see the hunger in his eyes, he looked starved to be honest, he wasn't much more than skin and bones.
"Are you hungry?" I asked in a cheery voice.
He nodded slowly, not sure if he was allowed to. "Can we get him some food?" I asked. looking at the man.
"He will eat when he is off duty" The man said.
"He looks worse than I do, please get him some food." I said looking at the man with more anger. He just ignored me. "If you aren't going to do it I will." I said trying to stand up. He just stood up, and walked around to my side of the table sitting me down rather harshly.
"I will do it." He said. I turned and motions for the boy to come sit beside me. He had never looked so happy, he set his gun down, and came running over to the table.
"What's your name?" I asked smiling over at him.
"Brandon." He said. He looked much younger up closer, and weak.
"I'm Natalie. How old are you?" I asked.
"Twelve." He said as the man set the the food in front of him.
"Thank you." The boy said, barely waiting for him to set down the bowl before he dug in. He must of felt more weak than I had, he almost inhaled the bowl as he was eating.
I went to get back up from the table, but I felt more weak. I could feel my legs begin to wable, and then the boy caught me, and held me up.
"What's wrong with her?" The boy asked looking over at the man.
"She is going to be like this for the next week at least." He said again sounding more annoyed with every word.
The boy helped me walk back to my room, and lay me down on the bed.
"Can I do anything else?" He asked standing in my doorway facing me. "Can you send the man in here?" I asked.
He just nodded, and gave me a little smile, and walked away. Moments later the man came walking into my room.
"Okay listen here, I am the one who didn't choose this. I know for a fact you chose to be the one to work with me. So why don't we make this at least a little pleasant." I said. My tone came off more angry as I intended.
He didn't say anything, but I could almost see the little wheels in his head turning. "What's your name?" I asked looking up at him.
"Caleb." He said.
"Don't lie to me." I said.
"Jayce." He said. "How did you know that I was lying to you?" He asked looking a little less confident.
"I could feel it. I could hear your heart beat pick up, and you always twitch your left eye just slightly when you lie." I said smiling.
"I am Natalie." I said.
"I know who you are." He said in an obvious voice.
"Really because you only seem to know me by my number." I said looking at the tattooed code that was on my wrist. He just looked down at the floor.
"I need you to do me a favor." I asked motioning him to come closer.
"What is that?" He said raising his eyebrow.
"I know that the leader was lying, I know he knows where my boyfriend is. If he is dead, can you please just tell me. The mystery of not knowing is killing me inside." I said.
"Truth is, your boyfriend is alive. Where he is we do not know. We imagine with a group of other prisoners that have not been captured yet. Your first mission will be to capture all of the remaining prisoners." He said. I knew he felt bad for me, he may not show it but deep down I knew that he was.
