"It's late, and you know my parents hate when I get home late." I said walking to the corner of my boyfriends bedroom, and grabbing my bag.
"Can't you just stay here for a little bit longer?" He asked walking up behind me, and wrapping his hands around my waist, and softly kissing me on the neck. It made me smile, but I had to push away.
"You know I can't." I said turning to face him, giving him a kiss on the lips. He just gave me a groan, and nodded his head.
I walked over to his window, and looked out of it. We were on the second floor, and the view of the first snow fall was breathtaking.
"I will call you tomorrow." Jason said as I made my way through his window, and onto the roof. I always left this way, it was faster, and more fun. I jumped down onto the roof, and before I knew what was happening I was falling, and not stopping. I hit the ground, and I could feel a sharp pain in my leg, and then my head. I couldn't see anything it was blurry. The cold air on my skin was such a calming feeling.
Then a sound caught my attention, it almost sounded like people marching, and truck tires, lots of truck tires spinning on the fresh coat of snow.
"Natalie!" I heard Jason yell, but then everything went black.
My eyes burst open, but my body was a lot slower. I turned my head to the right, and all I could see was rows, and rows of beds full of people. I turned my head to the left, and I got the same view. I knew the building we were in, it was the town hall. Then the front doors of the building burst open, and many men started to walk in screaming, and hitting people on the beds to wake them up.
"You're awake?" A little boy sleeping in the bed next to me whispered to me. His big brown eyes were almost in amazement. He couldn't be any older than four years old. It took me a couple minutes, but I remembered who he was.
"Brax?" I said. His name was Braxton, he was my neighbor. "Where are your parents?" I asked sitting up.
I could tell he was a little confused by the question. "Come with me I will help you find them." I said. I grabbed his hand, and started to walk up to one of the men in uniform.
"Excuse me, do you think you could tell me where his parents Ed, and Sharron are?" I asked. He stopped, and slowly turned around to face me. Then out of no where he raised his hand, and guided it across of my face. I lost my balance, but quickly regained it. "Spoke when spoken to." he said. I could tell right away his accent was German. I had no idea what was happening, but I tried to follow everyone else the best that I could.
They were all lined up waiting to leave the town hall. It was snowing outside, and no one was wearing more than a tshirt, and jeans.
I seen the old man that lived down the street from me, he was walking along by himself, and he seemed to be a little off.
"Mr. Jacobs what is going on?" I asked. He looked around quickly, and spoke almost so quietly I could barely hear him.
"They are taking over." He said, and then a heard a man yell. I turned around, and one of the men in uniform was marching over towards us.
"I told you no talking." He said grabbing Mr. Jacobs, and punching him in the stomach.
"Hey!" I said trying to pull the man away from him. I was still holding on to Brax with my other arm. He just turned around, and cracked me in the face again. This time I could feel the swelling taking place. Another man came up behind the man, and whispered something in his ear.
"You are coming with me." The man said grabbing onto my arm forcing me to let go of Braxton. Braxton tried to run after me, but another man grabbed him, and pulled him away.
I looked back at Mr. Jacobs, and he was holding the boy, giving me a reassuring nod. The man never stopped dragging me until we got to a room. He shoved me in, and slammed the door hitting my back when he did so. I turned around, and started to bang on the door, but it was no use. I was looking around the room, I had never seen it before.
"Nat?" I heard a comforting voice ask.
"Liam?" I asked. I had never felt so relieved to see that ugly mug in my life. He wrapped his arms around me without another word being said.
"They said that you weren't going to wake up." He said pulling away from the hug.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"You have been in a coma for the past two weeks. They brought you in the day everything went down." He said.
"Who's they?" I asked.
"The Germans launched an attack on us, this it is Nat. This is the War everyone was waiting for." He said.
"What are they doing with us?" I asked looking around the room. There was another door in the room, but it was locked as well.
"I don't know, they brought me in here jus a few minutes before they shoved you through that door." He said.
Liam had been my bestfriend since I was 5. He wasn't even a friend he was more like a big brother.
"Where is Jason?" I asked.
"I haven't seen him, or heard of him in two weeks." Liam said. I knew he felt bad telling me this, I could see it in his eyes. He never liked to see me hurt. I could feel my heart sink into my chest. Before I could mutter anymore words out of my mouth two guards came into the room, and grabbed us. Seconds after they came into the room, two more men walked in with needles. They jabbed it into my thigh, and did the same with Liam. I couldn't scream, within seconds my body was starting to mellow. I couldn't move my legs, or my arms. I was sitting there with a limp body left alone with my own thoughts.
They wheeled us down a hallway, until we got to a room. It was a long room filled with beds. I looked to the end of the room, and there were only two more empty beds, and I knew that was where we were going.
They set us down on these beds, and strapped us in. I could hear all of the other people in the room talking, and whispering to one another. Every single person in that rooms voices were panicked, and none of them knew what was going to happen to us.
"Nat you okay?" Liam asked. The drugs were starting to wear off now.
I just nodded. I didn't know what was going to happen, but I knew it wasn't going to be fun.
"I am going to get us out of here. Okay?" He said not taking his eyes away from me.
