Chapter 3

The annoying beep of my alarm pulled me out of my amazing sleep. I looked at the date and sighed. Monday. Time to start school. I groaned as a sat up, feeling like an old person.

"I'm already up!" I interrupted my mom's wake up call.

"Okay, hurry up, we have to leave soon!"

"Yeah yeah yeah." I mumbled to myself as I began putting on my uniform.

I'm glad I take showers at night because if I had to take a shower AND put on this uniform, I'd probably be late every day. With me never having to have to wear a uniform at any of my other schools, I couldn't get this tie right for the life of me. I walked down the stairs to see my mom waiting.

"Well don't you look adorable!" She gushed, getting her phone out.

"Stop that. I can't tie this damn thing!" I said, fumbling with the tie once more.

"Here." She moved my hands out of the way and began to fix my mess.

"Thank you."

"Are you ready? Did you want to take some breakfast?"

I shook my head. "No, I don't want anything. Do I have a packed lunch?"

"OH! I almost forgot!" She ran into the kitchen and came back not even a minute later with a brown paper bag. "Here, I threw a banana and a granola bar in here in case you get hungry before lunch, and here's a water bottle."

"Thanks mom." I smiled at her.

She gave me a hug. "I'm sorry you have to be the new girl again, but can you please just try to have a good day?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

"Okay, come on, let's get going, or else you'll be late."

"Ah, hello Miss DelMonte." The same lady who helped me enroll was here. "The uniform suits you well."

I smiled. "Thank you."

She smiled at me. "Here you are dear." She handed me a piece of paper. I noticed it was my schedule. "If you have any problems finding a class, don't hesitate to ask a teacher for help."

I nodded.

"And here you go." She handed me a stack of little papers. "These are passes just to get you through your first few days if you're late. Some teachers don't give them back so I just wrote out a bunch for you."

I smiled. "Thank you so much!"

"Not a problem, have a wonderful first day."

Walking down these halls is a nightmare. These kids are like animals!  I decided not to go to my locker until I actually had some books to put in there, so I looked at my schedule and decided to find my first class.

Eventually the bell rang and I was still wondering the halls looking for this damn room.

"Hey!" I turned to see a man walking towards me. "Do you have a pass young lady?"

"Uh. I, uh, it's my first day. I'm sorry, I'm just having some trouble finding my class."

"Oh, I'm sorry. An American, huh?"

I nodded. "Yes sir."

"Well then, let's see where you're supposed to be." He took the schedule and read off the room number and class. "Room 134, Mr. Ronsin's English. Okay, that's right down here."

He led me down a little hallway that I've passed nearly 3 times and pointed to a door. "Right there."

"Thank you sir."

"No problem." He smiled. "I'll see you 4th period, I'll let you slide if you're late."

I looked at my schedule and found my fourth period class. "You're Mr. McGrath?"

"McG for short."

I nodded. "Thank you again."

He walked off as I pulled one of the lateness excuse passes out of my bag and opened the door.

Everyone turned to stare as they heard the door. I looked around for the teacher and saw him at his desk, he too was staring. I walked over and handed him the pass. He looked at my name and looked at his chart. He smiled and stood, placing a hand on my back and leading me to the front of the class.

"Everyone, we have a new student. Her name is Rhiannon and she just moved here from America. Please make her feel welcome."

My face turned red as everyone continued to stare.

"Rhiannon, you can take a seat right next to Luke." He pointed to an area where two boys were sitting. "Luke, raise your hand."

The blonde boy with shaggy hair slowly raised his hand and I nodded, walking over and taking my seat.

"You're the girl from the other day." Luke whispered to me as the teacher began to talk. "The one Michael waved to."

I nodded. "Yeah, he's my neighbor."

He smiled. "Cool, so what are you're classes?"

I handed him my schedule and he looked it over. Quickly, he picked up his pen and began to scribble things on it. I furrowed my brows and just watched him.

He handed the schedule back and smiled.

I looked down to see "Luke" written next to my English and Lunch periods.

"Those are the periods we have together. You have lunch with Michael and I and our friends Calum and Ashton."

I nodded. "Okay."

"You'll sit with us, okay?"

I nodded and smiled. "Thank you."

After the bell rang, I got a textbook from Mr. Ronsin and a pass to excuse my lateness to my next class. This class was easier to find, it was my music class. When I walked in after the bell, no one seemed to notice, which was good. I walked over to the teacher and handed her my pass and explained to her that I'm new.

She grinned and did the same thing my other teacher did. "Hey everyone! New student! Her name is Rhiannon, make her feel comfortable, okay?"

Everyone smiled and waved, and I immediately knew I was going to love this class.

"You'll sit in that empty desk just over there." She pointed to the only empty desk in the room and I walked over to it, quickly taking a seat and turning to listen to the teacher.

After walking in after the bell ran for my Math class, I just handed him the pass and asked to be given a seat without an introduction. He laughed but pointed to a seat next to, like earlier, a shaggy haired boy.

After sitting down, the class was told to work with our partners in the textbooks.  I looked around to see that everyone was connecting their desks with the person to their right. I looked to the boy next to me and he smiled.

"We can share my book for now."

I nodded and moved my desk over and we began to work on the problems on the page.

As we were working, he stopped and looked at me. "Aren't you the girl who moved next door to Michael?"

"Yeah, that's me. I'm Rhiannon, and you are?"

"Ashton." He smiled.

"Luke told me that I'll have lunch with you."

He looked confused. "You know Luke?"

I nodded. "Yeah, we have English and lunch together." I pulled my schedule from my bag. "He wrote his name next to the classes we have together."

Ashton took the schedule from me and started to scribble just as Luke did. When he handed it back, I saw that we had all but two classes together. English and Gym.

"Wow, look's like we'll see a lot of each other."

He smiled and nodded.

"Wait... you're in my music class?"

He chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, I sit about three people to you're left."

"I'm sorry I didn't notice you."

He smiled. "It's fine, it's just your first day."

Ashton walked me to my Math class, where sure enough Mr. McG was sitting at the desk. He said I could just sit next to Ashton so he could help me catch up and that class few by.

When lunch time came around, I followed Ashton in to the cafeteria and over to his table, where I recognized Luke and Michael. I assumed the dark haired boy was Calum.

"Hey guys." Ashton greeted as we sat down.

"Hey." Everyone said monotoned, then looked to me.

"This is Calum." Luke said. "Calum, this is Rhiannon."

"Hi." I smiled.

"Hey." He gave me a smile back.

"Hi Michael, how are you?"

"Great! How's your first day?"

"Not too bad." I said playing with my fingers as the boys pulled out their lunches and began to eat.

"You not eating?" Calum asked looking over at me.

"No, I'm not hungry." I shrugged.

"Do you not have food?" Luke asked, pushing his lunch towards me.

"No, I do." I said, pulling out my lunch. "I'm just not hungry."

"Oh okay. Didn't want you to starve." Luke smiled right before a dark jelly looking thing- I guess that's vegemite, hit him on the nose.

I looked to my left to see Ashton silently laughing.

"You asshole." Luke muttered, flicking some peanut butter at him.

I giggled watching the boys get in a mini food fight and I couldn't help but think that I could really get used to living here.
