It was Wednesday morning. I felt the warm summer breeze rush against my cheeks.
"Allie must've left the window open last night... Oh well." I yawned.
I woke up realizing it was a free day. Finally a day to myself. A day where I could possibly do anything for a decent amount of time.
Excitement and curiosity began to sink in.
"What was I going to do today?" I whispered.
"I can go to the gym? Or the aquarium? Hmm. No. I'll just get some food and watch Netflix all day. Yeah that seems about right."
As soon as I got up from bed, my arms, legs, and stomach were very sore. I shook trying to get myself up, and I trembled as I tried to stand.
"On second thought. I'll run down to a local drug store before I get some food. I need some aspirin for this aching body." I said to myself.
After 4 attempts of getting out of bed, I managed to finally do it.
Yep. Allie was gone. "She's probably having the time of her life in Sydney", I thought.
Rummaging through my suitcase, I found my outfit, and jumped in the shower.
As I walked to the bathroom, I spot a paper that is resting beside the tv. Which read:
Went to the aquarium. Don't wait up!
- Allie :)
"I knew it!" I chuckled.
After I got out of the shower, I blow dried my hair, straightened it, and put it in a side braid. I then put on my undergarments, and then my Nirvana tank. Which I compared with my ripped black skinnies, my black vans, and not to forget... My red flannel.
As I grabbed my room key, phone, and side bag, I looked into the mirror. Making sure I looked good and walked out the door.
On my way towards the elevator. Thoughts kept going through my mind.
What if I get lost? What if I get kidnapped? Or worse. What if I see a kangaroo trying to take over the city with its minions?!?!?!
As I walk in the elevator. I pressed the lobby button.
Walking out, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Ellie.
"Morning Kirsten. How are you spending your free day?" She asked.
"Just gonna explore downtown and maybe get some food." I replied, not mentioning the drug store.
"Sounds fun! If you need any help around the area. You can call me." She said.
"Great." I said giving her my phone.
"Be sure to be back by 9. Curfew. Sadly."
"Okay thanks!" I chirped, as I got my phone back.
Honestly. Ellie is too nice. She needs to live a little. I would invite her with me but, I am kind of in a rush. I am just in pain and I need to get back ASAP, so I could eat, and watch Netflix.
Our hotel was near the beach, but not to close. It was about 4 blocks away. So every morning as you walk out to the balcony, you could smell the ocean.
After a few minutes of walking. I see a drug store. "Yes!" I need aspirin pronto!
As I walk into the store, I was greeted by a nice cashier lady.
"Morning. Do you need help finding anything sweetie?" She asked.
"Yes please. What aisle can I go to for some aspirin?"
"It's gonna be in Aisle 3 on your right side."
"Thanks." I smiled.
As I purchased the bottle. I was curious about how far we are from downtown. So I asked.
Come to think of it. We are downtown. Now I just needed food and I'll be back in my comfy bed.
Walking out of the drug store, something caught my eye. Could it be? A mall. I figured that I could look around for awhile, plus, I needed to get a souvenir for my parents.
Going through the doors of the mall seemed to take forever. I finally made it inside. I see a little gift shop place right by the entrance. Without hesitation, I walk in.
There was all sorts of gifts. Magnets? Too original. Globe? Nah. Stuffed animals? Maaaay-No. Just right when I lost hope. I see a little Polaroid camera bundled with an Australia scrapbook album. This is perfect.
After hours of shopping. I still neglected my food for hunger.
I might as well get something on the way back. I mean it was only 1:35. I still had hours of marathons I could watch.
On my way back to the hotel. I spot a busy looking restaurant. As I got closer the building wrote... "Nando's"
