This morning instead of Calum waking me up it was Melanie, opening one eye I realized the sun wasn't even out yet. I closed my eyes and rolled over, I have never had someone try so hard to wake me up.
"Asston I need you. Please, please, please wake up!."Melanie laid in the bed with me poking my back repeatedly. Turning on my night light I sit up and push my hair back.
"I know its 5 in the morning but its the only time to tell you. We need to quietly go downstairs and drive to the cafe."Melanie said and I could see the fear in her eyes. Without doing my hair I slide a bandanna on and grabbed a jacket.
"What did Luke do this time. He is asleep we can just punch him in the nuts! Its a little early for the cafe, don't you think." Grabbing my keys I went out to the car anyway, it was Melanie no way I was changing her plans. We drove to the cafe in complete silence, it was like she didn't want to even talk about what she woke me up for. Walking in to the cafe she finally managed words out her mouth.
"I've already told Ash, but Luke's birthday is in three days and I don't know what to get him. I'm also afraid because Sydney is coming the day after his birthday and..." Melanie mumbled on and on.
"And what?" I got suddenly worried.
"I don't think Luke and I used protection. What if something happens?" Melanie starts to cry into my shoulder.
"Listen, If he didn't there will be a mini Luke or Melanie around the house and you guys will be just as happy as you were but with a new task to handle.I will help you, we will all help you but in about 2 weeks we will go take a test. Do Not say anything till then." I went to the cashier and ordered us both a espresso and than met her at our booth. As we drank our espresso's we continued the conversation. Every time we talk I think back to when we liked each other. I could have used this as my confession, but I'm to afraid. Back when Luke and Melanie first started talking I took her to the mall to shop for a cute dress for their first date, and she kissed me. To her it was just a I love you and you don't hear it enough, but to me it changed my whole life. It's insane to think how fast time flies, it feels like a week ago she was kissing me in the mall but in reality. Luke and Melanie are dating, Melanie might be pregnant and I'm still trying to figure out who I really am in love with.
"You have been staring in space for a while now, are you okay?" Melanie said waving her hand in my face. I wish I could say I wasn't okay because I wanted her kiss but instead like always I pleaded I was fine. We finished our espresso's, hit the drug store for a pregnancy test and went to the nearest music store and got Luke some picks, guitar straps, extra strings, and a new amp for his birthday. When we got home and I put the car in park, she put her hand over mine and thanked me.
"I don't thank you enough, I love you more than anything and the things you do for me are unbelievable. I'm going to hide the test in the bathroom, you should get in the shower and its pizza night at 7."she kissed me on the cheek, like always and got out of the car. I loaded all of Luke's presents in to my trunk and made sure I left my car locked so he couldn't look in the trunk. When I went inside everyone was still asleep, I went back to bed and passed Melanie to see her back wrapped up in his arms. Sometimes I wish being a guy with feelings wasn't so hard. I could be one of those guys that we call tools because half the time their ego is in the way of their feelings, but l'm just a lost boy.
