Ashton's POV -
I can't believe the fact that she lied to her group member and let me go? Why would she let me go?
People these days would have tried to kill me without hesitation - like the ones who just spotted me on the street. At least I didn't get hit.
I couldn't stop thinking about her. That slight curve on her lips as I thanked her really made an impression.
I didn't like the thought of killing anyone... Especially that beautiful young lady.
She was breath taking - no doubt.
My heart was still pumping like crazy. I stopped running and leaned against the wall. I looked down the shattered corridor from where you could see my footsteps in the thick layer of dust which clung to the creaking wooden floor.
The sun sent streaks of light through the shattered window onto the ripped wallpaper that hung down the walls.
I pushed myself away from the wall and stood for a moment and searched through my opportunities. I could either sleep some random place, probably cold... Or... I could go back to her group. I mean, she didn't kill me? So there's a slight chance she might not kill me if I went back...
I sound crazy... But what is there to loose? I have lived alone in this cursed world for too long and I need someone to talk to. Life get's depressing when you know there's people out here, but you can't talk to them - they'll just kill you. I'm drowning in silence and loneliness by myself.
I started jogging back down the corridor. My backpack lightly padded me on my back from each step. My mind was flooded with what might happen. I might die. Her group might kill me. She might kill me, she let me go once - but that doesn't mean she'll let me go twice...
I was now back in the same room that I had run away from just moments ago. I moved around uncomfortably as I looked at the staircase in front of me which looked like it was about to fall apart. Papers and dust filled the room, as did the weeds and plants that peeked up from the wooden floor.
I took a deep breath and walked up the narrow steps that creaked under my boots.
Cyndel's POV -
I couldn't get that guy out of my head. The way his eyes glistened as he thanked me really left an impression.
I can't believe I lied to Harry... But I just couldn't kill him. The earth is already lacking humans, - and well... he was quite attractive.
Oh my god... What am I thinking. I'm surrounded by two attractive men - or well at least one man and a boy.
But there was something about this guy... He was rather familiar - I just can't point out from where.
''So... where should we go next?'', Luke broke my thoughts as he rubbed an old piece of fabric on his knife.
My eyes shifted between Harry sitting on the couch looking thoughtful, to Luke sitting on the floor looking like a child. He was currently attempting to make his knife 'outshine' mine. I let out a slight chuckle at the sight.
''Maybe a couple of blocks down'' I said and shrugged
''No'' a word finally left Harry's mouth, ''that's not long enough... There's people around - with guns... And they are not afraid to use them'', he stood up and pulled the fabric aside that we had put in front of the window frames. He looked at the sky which was slightly turning darker and starting to reveal blinking stars.
''which means?'' I asked and sent him a questionable look.
''They will outnumber us'', he answered and turned to me, ''We don't shoot our guns because we know people will locate us, and I don't think they care about being located''
I thought about it. He's right - he always is though.
''You're right but -''
I was cut off by the sound of three knocks on the main door.
Knock, knock, knock.
My eyes caught Harry's and went wide.
''D-did you hear th-that too guys?'' I stuttered
They both lightly nodded.
''Fuck!'' I whispered. I stood up and pulled my gun out of the belt. I walked carefully towards the door. Harry and Luke followed me.
I took a deep breath as I placed my hand on the door handle. I glanced over my shoulder and saw harry lightly nodding, he looked just as unsure and scared as I did.
I jumped lightly as ripped the door open and pointed my gun at the person standing behind it.
The same man that I had just let go only moments from now stood wide eyed in the door frame.
The tension built up as we all kept quiet. The guns by my sides slowly moved down as I heard Luke sigh in relief.
''I can't believe you guys are alive'', the man in front of me barely whispered.
Harry laid his hand on my gun and pushed it down, ''It's okay Cyndel'' I turned my head at Harry, ''What makes it okay?'' I blurted out.
Harry lightly smirked, ''We know him''. Wait what? Harry told me everyone he knew had died, besides Luke?
I backed away from the unknown man. I bit the inside of my lip and I placed my gun safely in my belt.
''I can't believe it! You're alive Ashton'' Luke cheered and embraced him in a tight hug.
''Ashton...'' I tasted the name on my tongue
Then it clicked. Ashton Irwin.
I smiled lightly as I saw them greet each other. After such a long time in this lonely world they actually looked alive. Like they were for once enjoying this life. I must say I somehow enjoyed it too. It not everyday a girl wakes up to the sight of Luke Hemmings and Harry Styles.
I'm grateful for what they did. I was nearly dead when they found me about a year ago.
