"Let's go." Leo said, walking with me to school. "Leo, I can walk by myself." I said. "The last time you did, you almost got hit by a car." He said. I laughed.
"Please let me know if something happens." Leo said, as we got into school. "I will." I said. He looked at me. "I will. Go, Jasmine is waiting for you." I said. He smiled, and ran to Jasmine.
"Look who's back." Someone said behind me. "Esme." I said. Esme is one of the most popular girls. Shes kinda new to school, and she took my place as the popular one. So, ally basically forgot about me.
"Where were you? Did you finally lose your battle?" She asked. "Excuse me?" I asked. "We all know about your little... Problem." She said, pointing to my wrists. "We all know that you and Luke aren't friends. We know, everything." She said.
I started to walked away, but she held her arm out. "Where are you going ms. Old popular?" She asked. "My name is Violet." I said. "I'm sorry. Did you just correct me?" She asked. Someone did this before, and Esme beat her up. The girl hasn't spoken since.
I looked down. "You seriously think you can correct me." She said, throwing me up against a locker. "You think you can correct me!" She yelled, as she punched me. "Luke." My voice said. No reply. "Luke." I said again. Again, no reply. She kept punching me, until she let go of me, and I dropped to the floor. She kicked me once, then twice, then a third time. "Don't correct me." She said, walking away.
I laid there, crying, and rolling around on the floor. I could barely breathe. Hell, I can barely talk. I called Luke so many times, he didn't answer once.
There were people talking about how I was laying on the floor. I was falling asleep laying there. My eyes could barely stay open. I felt like I was going to throw up.
"Vi!" Someone yelled. "Violet!" They yelled again. "Leo." I said quietly. "Violet. What happened." He asked. "I'm tired." I said. "No Vi. Stay awake." He said. I drifted into a sleep, and that's the last thing I remember.
"Mum? Where are you going?" I asked, as she rushed to get her jacket on. "Violets in the hospital. Someone beat her up badly. Leo found her on the school floor. He said she was tired, and she went to sleep." She said. "I'm coming." I said, running into the car.
My eyes fluttered open, to a bright light. "Violet." Someone said. "Mom?" I asked. "I'm here baby. It's me." She said, holding my hand. "Mom. I tried calling Luke. I tried. H-he didn't answer." I said. "Ssh. Baby. I'll talk to him." She replied.
"Ms. Damon. Can I see her?" I asked. "Yes, but first, we need to talk." She replied. "Alright." I said. "I'll go see her." Mum said, walking into her room.
"Luke, Violet told me that she called you three times, and you didn't answer once." Ms. Damon said. "I didn't know she was getting hurt." I replied. "Still. You should have answered her. You may not like it, but she needs you." She said. "You could've stopped that girl for doing that. But, you didn't. You let my baby girl get hurt." She said. "Just last month you didn't know who your daughter was, you almost locked her up. You left her. And now your back, and shes suddenly your baby girl?" I asked. Her jaw dropped.
Mrs. Hemmings came into my room, and I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep. "What did this girl do to you." She said, touching my hand.
"Liz, that boy of yours. He changed." Mom said. "What do you mean?" Mrs. Hemmings asked. "Liz, Violet called for him three times. He didn't answer once. He just practically told me off." Mom said. "I've been noticing things like that. He isn't himself." Mrs. Hemmings said. "It's that girl he's been dating." Mrs. Hemmings said. "What girl?" Mom asked. "Chloe. Woods." She replied. "Liz, you know what this means. I will not let this happen. Not again." Mom said. "What am I supposed to do about it? He won't listen to me." Mrs. Hemmings said. "He's your son Liz." Mom said. "Did you forget something. Did you forget your husband is the real father. I think you're forgetting that." Mrs. Hemmings said.
The heart monitor started beeping, and I had trouble breathing. "Violet!" Mom yelled. "Violet!" Mrs. Hemmings yelled. The nurse came in. I could hear her breathing.
The heart monitor went back to the normal beeps. "I've never seen anything like this." She said. "Like what?" Mom asked. "Her heart. It races. Then slows down. I've never seen anything like this before." She said. I felt my moms smile. "That's my baby girl." She said.
Mrs.Hemmings left to take Luke home, because of school. It was just me and mom. I opened my eyes. "I knew you were awake." She said. "Why didn't you tell me." I said. I have to be honest, I was angry. "Tell you what?" She asked. "That dad is Luke's father mom!" I yelled. "Keep your voice down. The nurse is already suspicious." She said. "Look, no one else knows. Only dad, me, Andrew, Liz, and Ben and Jack." She said. "Oh god mom! Don't tell me he's Ben ands jacks father!" I yelled. "No. No. Don't worry." She said.
"Mum." I said. "What Luke." She snapped. "Uh. How's Violet?" I asked. "Oh. Shes fine. She almost died. Her heart raced, then slowed down. Let's see, oh, she called for you three times. Oh! And let's not forget she got beat up!" She yelled. "Yes, she called for me three times. But I didn't think she was getting hurt!" I yelled. "You still should have answered!" She yelled. "Shes just a person! She can fight things on her own!" I yelled.
"You don't know half the story Luke." She said. "What story?" I asked. "The story of you sis..." She said, until she cut her self off. "Sister? I have a sister?" I asked. "Luke, go to your room." She said. "But-" "Luke now!" She yelled.
I looked across my room, and saw Ms. Damon. She was in violets room. It looks like she was going through pictures. I walked out onto my balcony, and Mr. Carson walked in, and they started fighting.
"Mum." I said walking down the stairs. She was on the phone, and I guess she didn't hear Me, so I stayed behind a wall, and listened to her conversation. "What do you mean she heard!" She yelled. "So she knows now." She said. "I'm hoping Luke didn't figure anything out yet." She said, biting her nails. "If he finds how that Violet is really his sister, he will be devastated." She said.
Whoa! Violet! My sister! That's my sister! What?!? How? Why? When? What! "Luke. How long were you standing there?" Mum asked. "I heard everything. Why didn't you tell me violets my sister?" I replied. "We all promised to keep it a secret. But, recently, you haven't been yourself, and we needed to get it out. So, maybe you'll care more." She said.
"I have been myself." I replied. She looked at me. "Luke, Jackie came up to me today in the hospital, and told me that you told her she left, and now suddenly shes violets mom. That's unexceptional." She said. "Between you not caring, and you not giving any attention to Violet, I'm scared. I really am. I feel like I'm losing you, Luke. And I don't want to." She said. I looked down.
"Hey vi." I said, walking into her hospital room. She was sleeping, but I knew she could hear me. "What did she do to you." I said, kneeling next to her. I took her hand in mine. "I'm sorry for not being there. I'm sorry for not answering you. If I was there, this never would have happened." I said, trying to hold back tears.
"You said the bullying stopped. You promised to tell me. You should have told me." I said. A smaller hand squeezed mine. Violets eyes fluttered open, and she looked at me. "Luke." She said quietly. I smiled, and laid my head on her stomach. She played with my hair, and laughed.
"Luke, it's not your fault. This would have happened whether you were there or not." She said. "I should have answered." I said. "What Esme did, may happen again, but I don't care." She said. "Esme? She did this?" I asked. She nodded. "Okay. Go back to sleep." I said. "Can you stay?" She asked. I nodded.
