35. Chapter Thirty Four

Violet's POV

I woke up to laughing. I rolled over, feeling Luke still next to me. I opened my eyes, seeing Chloe and Leo... Laughing? Nope. Not going to work. "Leo." I said. He turned to me, but I started coughing, which made Luke wake up. "Sorry." I said. He shook his head. "Let's hope Lily and Cole don't find us." I said, laying back down into Luke. He nodded, and held me close.

"Alright, we use these to contact family, friends, anyone."  I said, handing everyone a prepaid phone. They all nodded. "Do not share this number, do not go out of this safe house, understood." I said. Everyone nodded. "Good. There's clothes in the closet." I said. Chloe and Kylie nodded.

"Why are we here again?" Leo asked. "Because we need to keep safe from Lily and Cole." I replied. "Why-" "Leo. Look, Lily now knows my weakness. And Violet's weak spot. If she gets to me, and her, we are both dead." Luke said. Leo sighed, and walked away. "Someone's not happy." I said. "Give him some time to adjust." Luke replied.

There was a knock on the metal door. I stood up quietly, and tip toed to the door. I looked through the peep hole, seeing dad and Mrs. Hemmings. I opened the door, letting them in. Dad hugged me tightly. "You're okay." He said. I nodded. "We're all okay. We're safe." I said. He nodded.

Mrs. Hemmings hugged me too. But she touched my wound. I winced in pain, which woke Luke up. "Felt that." He said. "Mum?" He asked. Mrs. Hemmings smiled, and hugged Luke. "Thank god you're okay." She said. "Both of you. I was so worried when I got the call about Lily being back." She said.

Leo came running out of the room, and hugged dad. Chloe followed, hugging Mrs. Hemmings. "Violet, can I have a word with you?" Mrs. Hemmings asked. I nodded, and walked into a room.

"I know Chloe isn't the best person to be around." She said. "You think." I said. She looked at me. "Sorry." I mumbled. "I need you to make friends with her." She said. I laughed. "You're kidding right?" I asked. But she looked completely serious. "You're not kidding. Oh my god. You want me to be friends with her." I said. She nodded. "No. Absolutely not." I said. "Violet, I need you to-" "Why! She's lucky she's even here right now! If it was up to me, she would be dead right now!" I yelled. "Do it for me." She said. "Why? You can't make me do anything." I said. "yes, I can." She replied. "You're not my mother." I said, walking out of the room.

"Is she insane! She wants me to be friends with her, Luke." I yelled, pacing a room. He sighed. "How am I going to be friends with someone like... Like that." I said. He shrugged. "I won't be friends with her." I said. "Vi." Luke said. I looked at him. "Let's get some rest." He said. I nodded, and walked to him. He pulled me into him, and held me close to him. "Don't move. Stay like this." He whispered. I nodded, and got comfy.
