I was scared out of my mind, and I knew I would probably lose, but I showed no fear. On the outside, I looked calm. I walked up and stood in front of her. Sh gave her usual evil smile, and we both stood there.
“ Look behind you, each of you, and grab your weapon,” the voice said. I turned and saw that I had a large sturdy stick. It was large and thick, thicker than a stick, but not quite as thick as a branch. I picked it up. No rough edges, smooth. I turned and saw that Jessie had her weapon, ready to attack. She has the same weapon I have. I held my weapon tightly and waited.
“ When I count to three, you must run towards your opponent. The one who goes unconscious loses. The one who isn’t, they win the prize. One of anything you desire. One, Two, Three, let the fight begin!” She ran after me, and I turned to the side and ran around. I came behind her and swung. It hit her square in the back, and she whimpered in pain, but she didn’t go down. She got up, and swung her weapon around, but I managed to duck. I didn’t get a hit in before I felt pain in my arm. I saw that she swung and hit it pretty hard. It hurt really bad, because of my bruises, but I got up and ran the opposite way. But, knowing me, I fell. I turned around and saw her picking her weapon over her head, ready to slam it down. I put my weapon out in front of me, and she threw her weapon down. I managed to not get hit. She tried again, but I kicked her in the side, and tried to knock her down. As she tried to regain her balance, I tried to get up, but then my luck started to fail. As I struggled to get up, I was knocked back down with an overwhelming amount of pain coming from my back. She managed get a hit in as I was getting up. She came over, grabbed my hair, and slammed my face against the ground. After a few good slams, she got up to examine her work. My nose was definitely bleeding. I turned over and touched my nose, just to pull quickly away from the pain. My nose was broken. Without a doubt. I stumbled, but I got up. I grabbed my weapon, and stared at her. I could see satisfaction in her eyes.
“ Why even try?” she asked in her evil tone.
“ Why not?” I responded.
“ Why are you still trying? I’ve already won!” she said.
“ You haven’t won until I am down,” I said. She just smiled for about a minute.
“ You are done! It’s over!” she said.
“ It isn’t over until the fat lady sings,” I said, reciting the phrase.
“ Then go ahead and sing!” she said. I wasn’t bothered by it.
“ Why don’t you?” I asked. She was a little irritated, but choose not to let it show. It was my turn to smile, and you could tell she didn’t enjoy that. I turned my head for half a second to the crowd. Everyone was waiting, anxious to see who will win. I turn my attention back to Jessie, and she was ready to run towards me, and finish it. A few seconds passed, but those seconds seemed like hours. When those seconds passed, quiet. No one dared to breath, then, she took a chance, and ran towards me, her weapon at hand. She swung, and missed. I ducked and swung, but I hit. She fell, but quickly got back up. She was angry now! She got up and just ran towards me, holding her weapon above her head, ready to swing. I ran towards her, ready to dunk, but when she got close enough to hit, I, for some reason, didn’t dunk fast enough. She hit me right on top of my head, giving me a massive headache. She brought her weapon up, then all went black. I had lost. I had lost my first battle. Thats just great! (note the sarcasm.)
