14. Chapter Fourteen
NOTE: Another little chapter.
Con stopped just on the outskirts of the land the half-breed's owned. He knew once he crossed the boarder, he'd be in the elves territory.
He hardest decision Con had was whether to go in his wolf form or human form. If he went in his half-breed form he'd be recognised right away as a, well, half-breed. He could have more of a chance surviving if he went as a wolf.
Con decided to rest. He knew he wouldn't sleep. How could he? He was worried for Tornei. He missed Tornei terribly. The thought of her being in the elves clutches, alone, having all kinds of horrible things done to her. The hole Tornei left made his heart ache. And the heart ache made him want to be sick.
He could easily blame this on his daughter, Dalya. She was the one who made Tornei go see who the elf was talking to but he couldn't. He couldn't do that to Tornei and he definitely couldn't do that to Dalya.
He turned on his side. How many times had he and Tornei slept on the floor when they were nothing but runaways? Running from their past life.
He needed to feel Tornei now. He closed his eyes and he could feel the weight of her in his arms. The smell of her hair when he buried his face in it. But when he opened his eyes, he was alone on the floor, and that left a larger hole than before.
It's okay, Tornei. I'm coming. You won't be alone for long now.
