25. A F T E R
They say that there are two times that a person dies in their life, did you know that Mia? The first is when your body ceases to be yours. When the blood stops pumping in your veins and your heart no longer beats. The second though, the second is when your name has been said for the last time. When the last person whose life you impacted has also perished, taking the last traces of you with them. But Mia, I swear to you, although my life may end and the world continues turning without us, you will never die. This book is a testament of your life, through it you will live forever more.
Remember when you told me to write my own story? This is it. You are my story. My life began when you walked into that bakery on that seemingly monotonous humid summer day. My life ends on the last page of this book, where you now cease to exist. I only live within the confines of these pages alongside you. I choose to only live here, for I am utterly uninterested in leading a life without you.
If ever I am to meet you again my strawberry girl, I hope that you know that somewhere we are reliving our love, somewhere I am kissing your stained lips and pushing your hair off your face. Somewhere you are chiding me for not using a glass, somewhere you are begging me not to say that joke in public. That somewhere exists only within these pages, and god am I thankful for them. Although you gave me only a limited amount of pages that I could fill, you gave me the words that will immortalize us for eternity.
You asked me why I wrote one night, do you remember? Well, darling, I wrote for you.
