It was after school and I went to Charlotte's house. I walked inside and saw her mother sitting at the table reading a magazine and drinking coffee.
"Where's Jake," I asked Susan.
"He's at his grandparents house," she replied,
I walked over and sat down at the table with her.
"How are you holding up," she asked me. I assumed she was talking about the pregnancy.
"I guess okay. I mean nothing's really happening right now," I answered.
"Give it a few days. It'll start to kick in," she said, "I set up an appointment for you at the doctors office on Wednesday."
"Thank you so much," I said.
"It was no problem. I'm going to be with you every step of the way," she said.
"Do you know who the baby daddy is," she asked.
"Yeah," I said, "it's Luke."
"Is he a guy from school," she asked.
"Yeah," I answered.
"When do I tell my parents" I asked.
"Honey, you're going to have to tell them when they get back. I know it's going to be hard, but you'll have to do it sooner or later," Susan answered. I nodded and looked down at the table.
A few moments later Charlotte had walked in. "Hey guys," she said.
"Hi sweetie," her mother said, "how was school?"
"Good," Charlotte answered.
I went upstairs and into my room. I sat down on the bed and just thought about everything.
Is this really how my life has turned out. Pregnant at fifteen. Going to be a mom at fifteen. I thought that I'd move out, find a good paying job, marry a cute guy, and actually then have a family.
Well, this is it. This is life.
