6. Love

Ryder has been sleeping through my night more and more now and I couldn’t be more excited because I was able to sleep longer and get her over to daycare with us both refreshed before I headed out to work. I usually stopped at Starbucks before I went to work. Today Ryder couldn’t go to daycare so I had to bring her with me to work and Harley said she was bringing in her two kids also.

    “Name?” The girl asked me.

“Violet.” I answered before ordering the drinks for me and Harley. Brandon had just walked through the front door and I saw him in the corner of my eye. I could feel his eyes on my my back as I pushed Ry’s carriage to the end of the line where I was to pick up the drinks.

“Violet, can we talk?” He asked and I smirked before I turned to face him.

“I don’t think so.” I answered as my name was called and I grabbed the drinks. “I have to get to work and you well, you can go fuck yourself!” My voice projected as I walked away from him and some people clapped and I saw some women smiling at me and I smiled back at them. I knew that if I went in there I would see him but I wasn’t sure where any other places to get coffee were so I went here. I hope his wife was happy and that he was happy. If I had known that he was married I would have never even talked to him. I have no idea why he thought it was a good idea to cheat on her but whatever floats his boat.

I had to leave work early today because Kassidy had a doctors appointment today so I came in early which I usually never do and of course I see Violet today. I could tell she had turned so much more bitter than she already was. Me and Kassidy decided to name our little girl Violet Grace which I’m almost positive is Violet name.

“What was that all about?” One of the other’s workers asked once Violet left and everyone who clapped settled down.

“I was seeing her for a few months.”

    “And what happened?”

“I’m married.” I answered holding up my hand showing her the ring and she nodded her head before she walked away. I guess no one really wants to talk to someone who cheated on their wife. Mind you I was also thirty and Violet was like 22 or something like that. I still haven’t told my wife about Violet and how much that name affects me and it’s driving me insane when she talks about the baby and uses the name and I get so confused because I feel like she knows about my Violet and it totally screws me up.

I do have connections to Violet through my sister. She calls me everyday to let me know how both Ryder and Violet are doing. She tells me that she rarely sees Violet smile and I think that’s a problem. My problem is that I know exactly what is wrong and there is no way for me to fix it.

I had to leave work early today because Hayden rented a ballroom at some fancy hotel for Beau’s thirtieth birthday. I was told to wear a long ball dress gown. I also told to bring a date but of course that wasn’t going to happen.

I had just finished getting Ryder dress when the doorbell rang and I went to answer it and James was standing there in a tux with flowers in his hand.

“Violet Brooks, I would love it if you would allow me to bring you and your daughter to the ball tonight. I’ll have you home by midnight.” He smirked and I giggled letting him into the house. I was wearing a long blue dress and the back was open. Ryder was wearing black.

“I would love to.” I said while going to get Ryder and placing her in her seat. I handed James my keys so he could drive us over to the ball. When we got there, I pulled Ryder out of her seat and left it in the car. James guided me into the place and there were tons of people here all dressed up. As me and James walked down the stairs I felt like I was in a fairytale as everyone turned and looked our way. I had James on my left along with Ryder on my left hip. This is the first time I have felt beautiful since I had given birth and this is one of the greatest feelings in the entire world.

Daniel was the first face I saw in the crowd when I got to the last step and his hand reached out for mine and I took it.

“You look beautiful, Violet.” He said to me and I gave him a little smile.

“Thank you.” James took the baby from me as Daniel brought me out to the dance floor. I wasn’t sure why he wanted to dance with me but I let him. He hasn’t been in Ryder’s life that much but I didn’t exactly want him to be in her life.

“I think we should get back together.” I looked at him like he was crazy. He hasn’t talked to me in months and he wanted to get back together with me? He left me and his daughter and he thought I would go running back to him? I laughed in his face and he looked back at me.

“Are you serious?” I asked and he nodded his head.

“I think we should try and be a family.” He said and I dropped his hand from mine before my hands went to my forehead and rubbed it.

“I don’t think so.” I said taking a step back. “I need a drink.” I said taking more steps away from him before turning around and trying to find the bar. He was right behind me when I ordered a drink.

“Violet, I’m being serious. I want to be in her life.”

“We don’t have to be together for you to be in her life.” I answered him as I sat down. “She’s a human, Daniel! She isn’t a doll that you can pick up and throw away when you don’t want her anymore. She’s not me!” I shouted at him over the music and throwing my hands up in the air. I saw his chest rise and fall as he looked at the ground. “She deserves more than you.”

“And how is that going for you?!” He shouted at me.

“Amazing! I’m about to buy a huge house with the money I made from the book I wrote!” I shouted at him. I was giving Beau 300 dollars for his birthday but I had plenty more of it. I was actually buying house. Well I was planning on buying a house. It would be across town in Hollywood on the hill where all of the celebrities have their houses. I know Louis and Harry have a house over there with their three kids.

“You wrote a book? About what?”

“You.” I answered placing my cup down and going to find my daughter who was with Hayden. “I’m leaving.” I said while grabbing Ryder from her arms. She didn’t question what happened but I knew she watched me as I left.

“Violet wait!” I heard Daniel yell but he was too late, I wasn’t coming back.

Once I got home Ryder was asleep and I placed her on the bed while I stripped of my dress and hung it up in the closet before putting on a tank top and a pair of shorts to sleep in. I sat beside the bed and the tears kept flowing out of my eyes. I was heartbroken all over again. I knew that I couldn’t get back together with him because it would never work out I just wanted something more for Ryder, she deserved and I couldn’t give her that.

I wasn’t sure how many drinks I had but I found myself calling Britney when I got home from the party. Beau dropped me off and helped me stumble into the house before he left. He should have taken my phone with him. Britney somehow found her way over here and she wasn’t wearing much clothes.

I woke up groggy and had no idea what had happened last night but I felt the bed shift and I mentally cursed myself. Who the hell is that? I felt whoever it was rub my back before turning my body over and ducking under the covers.

“What are you doing?” I asked flipping the blankets off my body to find Britney who was totally naked along with myself.

“What are you talking about? You called me last night to come here.” She said sitting up.

“I did?” I asked and she nodded her head.

“You were pretty drunk.” She answered and I nodded my head. My head was pounding and when the light from the sun made its way into the room I wanted to shoot myself in the head from the pain. “What happened?” She asked and I shook my head. I knew I fought with Violet over Ryder but I wasn’t exactly sure why. The front door opened and slammed into the wall before I heard some yelling and Britney began to freak out. I put on a pair of sweatpants before heading over to look over the ledge on the stairs. Violet was standing there and she didn’t look very happy.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” She shouted at me. I rubbed my head while coming down the stairs.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked her before she clicked a few buttons on her brand new phone and something began playing on her phone. There was a ton of moaning and it sounded like porn. I grabbed the phone from her and it was a voicemail from me.

“You wanted to get back together huh? I think you mixed up your girls!” She shouted and I knew I was fucked. I love Violet I really did. I would do anything I could to get back together with her. I wish I could make it all better but there was only one thing that I could think to do. My issue was that I wasn’t thinking when my lips attached to hers. She pushed me back before I opened my eyes and she was wiping her mouth. “You’re gross!” She shouted and I smirked at myself. I hadn’t kissed her in so long and it felt nice.

    “You know you enjoyed it.”

“I really didn’t though.” She answered before Britney came down the stairs.

    “Who is this?”

“I’m his ex wife.” Britney’s eyes went wide before she excused herself and went into another room. “That’s an amazing way to show me that you want to be with me again!” She shouted and I kissed her again to shut her up and this time she didn’t stop kissing me back. I dragged her upstairs and took her right there. I could tell she didn’t want to do it when she cried once we finished. I ran my hands through her hair once she got dressed and she was about to leave. “This was a mistake.” She said crying and I just looked at her.

    “I still love you Violet.”
