"Mommy don't go!" Jackie yelled. "I know baby. I'll be back in two weeks. I have to graduate online classes. I'll be back soon." I said. "Mommy!" She yelled. "Baby, I have to go." I said.
Ashton stood on the front porch, holding Jackie. I waved as I got into the car. "Little girl very upset." The girl said. "Yeah. She is. She doesn't want me to go away." I replied. He started driving.
The whole way to the airport, I cried. I haven't spent two weeks away from Jackie. Never. But, it's only for two weeks, and Ashton is there.
"What do you wanna do?" I asked Jackie, as we got inside. "I want mommy." She said. "Come here." I said. She walked over to me, and sat on my lap. "Mommy will be back soon. She needs to get something for school, and then she comes home." I said. She looked at me.
"But what if she doesn't come home? Like mommy's mommy." She said. "Jaclyn. Mommy will come home. I promise." I said. "Alright," she said. "But if she doesn't, I'm blaming you." She said. "Stubborn. Like mommy." I said.
It's been two weeks since I went away from home. Every night I call ashton, and sing to Jackie.
"Mommy!" Jackie yelled over Skype. "Hi baby. I miss you so much!" I said. "I miss you too mommy." She said. "Where's daddy?" I asked. "Kitchen. Aunt Anne is here with Luke." She said. "tell daddy I'll be home tomorrow." I said. "I will." She said. "It's getting late. I love you." I said. "I love you too mommy." She said. I closed my laptop.
"This year, we are doing something different." The principle said. "We are going to have an online graduate give her speech." She said. "Please welcome, online graduate, Ashley green." She said.
"Through the months I've been going to online classes, I have learned that school is important. My daughter is in pre school. She has homework. I dropped out of highschool, and it was the worst. Dropping out was one of the worst decisions I have made. But joining online classes, is one of the best things I have done." I said. "Here's to the 2015 graduating class!" I yelled, and the students clapped.
"Our next graduate is, Ashley Green." The principle said. I walked up on stage. "Congratulations." She said. I smiled.
"You know, you're actually pretty cute." A guy said. "Excuse me?" I asked. "Andrew." He said. "Um. Ashley." I replied. "Did you call me cute?" I asked. "I believe I did." He said. "I'm flattered, but I have a boyfriend." I said. "Is he here?" He asked. "No. But-" I was cut off by him kissing me. I pushed him away. "I should get going." I said.
"Mommy!" Jackie yelled as I walked through the door. "Hi baby." I said. Ashton came out, and hugged me. I couldn't stop thinking about that guy who kissed me. "Hey, you okay?" Ashton asked. "Huh? Oh. Yeah. Fine." I replied.
"Goodnight baby." I said, tucking Jackie in. I kissed her head, and closed to the door. "Mommy." She said. "Yes honey?" I asked. "Are you gonna marry daddy?" She asked. "One day. I hope." I replied. She smiled. "I want Ashton to be my daddy. I like Ashton." She said. I smiled. "I want a new baby sister. Not a brother." She said. I laughed. "Goodnight." I said, closing the door.
As soon as I got into the bedroom, Ashton stood there. "What's wrong." He said. "What?" I asked, with a small laugh. "When you got home, it's like you spaced out. That's not like you." He said. "Nothing's wrong." I replied, trying not to make eye contact. He moved closer to me, and looked at me. I looked up, trying not to make contact.
"If nothing is wrong, why aren't you looking at me?" He asked. I moved my head down, and my eyes met his. "Tell me. What's wrong. Please." He said.
"The last day I was there. A student called me cute. He hit on me. I told him I have a boyfriend, and he kissed me." I said. He looked at me. "I didn't kiss back, but, he kinda held me there. I couldn't move. And when he finally let go, I pushed him away." I said.
Ashton didn't say anything. "Say something. Please." I said. "Uh. I don't know what to say." He replied. "You yelled at me for kissing another girl, why can't I yell at you." He said, obviously getting angry. "Because I didn't want to kiss him. I didn't kiss him back. And, you didn't find me in bed with him, now did you. Because we both know that happened with you." I said, raising my voice. "That was last year!" He yelled. "It was! But I forgave you! You're making a big deal out of nothing!" I yelled. "Just like how you made a big deal, when Jackie went to school." He said. "There have been so many times, when I just wanna leave. But I don't!" He yelled. "There's been times when I wanna kick you out!" I yelled.
"You're lucky I'm still here. You wouldn't be able to raise Jackie on your own." He said. My mouth dropped, and tears brimmed in my eyes. "Ashley-" "don't." I said, grabbing pillows, and a blanket. "Where are you going." He said, following me. "Sleeping on the couch." I said. "Come on. I didn't mean it." He said. "Sleep in the bed by yourself. You're an asshole." I said.
"Luke I screwed up." I said, over Skype. "What happened?" He asked. "Some guy kissed her, and we got into a fight about it. But I made it even worse." I replied. "What did you do." He said. "I said shes lucky I'm still here, because she can't raise Jackie on her own." I said slowly. "Ashton!" Luke yelled. "I know! I screwed up!" I yelled. "Big time!" He yelled. "I wouldn't be surprised if she tells me to leave." I said. "Don't say that." Mikey said. "We are in the hotel, I'll come by and talk to her." Mike said. "Thanks." I replied.
There was a knock on the front door. I wiped my eyes, and got up. "Michael? What are you doing here?" I asked. "We need to talk." He said, walking in.
"Look, Ashton didn't-" "I really don't wanna talk about this. He screwed up too many times. And blames me for everything." I said. "Just listen to me." He said, taking my hands in his.
"Ashton didn't mean what he said. When he gets angry, he says things that aren't true. He knows he screwed up. He knows what he said was wrong. He loves you, and Jackie." He said. "It's good that he knows he screwed up, because I sure as hell didn't." I said.
"Ashley, don't let Ashton go, because of what he said." He said. "Let him go? I wasn't going to." I said. "You aren't?" Michael asked. "All people fight. Friends, family, couples, it's apart of nature. The day that I let Ashton go, will be the day I die." I said.
Ashley walked into the bedroom slowly. "The day that you leave, which hopefully won't come soon, will be the day that I die from depression." She said. I looked at her. "You're not gonna die of depression." I said with a laugh.
She was very serious though. Did she start? "Ashley. What are you not telling me?" I asked slowly. "I'm sorry. I really am. I-I thought I could handle things. I really did. But I can't. I need help Ashton. I really do." She said. She showed me her newest scars. "Ashley." I said. She looked down, and cried. I got up, and pulled her into a hug. She cried into my shoulder. "I love you so much. Don't forget that." I said. She just continued to cry. "I love you." I said, kissing her head.
