DEEP DARK AND DANGEROUS
It was amazing traveling the world with the person you love most in this world. But if you had asked me four years ago where I saw myself today, I would say heading off to college. But at almost eighteen, I’m not going to college. I would tell you today that I would be working for a magazine or travel the world with my boyfriend. It was sex every single night and every single morning. It was swimming in random places even when it was super cold out. We did see Louis out walking but we didn’t realize it was him until I heard some people shouting but we had somewhere to be so we couldn’t stop.
“You’re still upset about the Louis thing?” Jared asked as I went through an album in my phone named Louis.
“Of course I am.” Louis and Harry had announced that they were in the process of adopting a child. I couldn’t be more happy for them.
“I’m sorry. I would have stopped if we could.” He answered as he wrapped his arms around me.
“I know. It’s not your fault.”
“What do you want for your birthday this year?” He asked and I shrugged. I did want to redo my room.
“Could we maybe redo my room?” I asked. Me and Jared usually slept together but there were those rare times where we would sleep in different rooms.
“I’m sure I could redo it, yes.” He answered before he kissed the side of my face. “Anything else?”
“Do you think it would also be possible to move my piano into the room?” I asked and he sucked in a breath through his teeth.
“I don’t know. I could hire some guys to move it.” He answered. We both had decided that while we were working we would live with his mom until we were old enough and had enough money to buy ourselves a place. Heather said she would help us out as much as possible. “What would you like to do today?” He asked and I shrugged. I loved traveling believe me but sometimes it just got boring. At least if I was home I could be writing or something.
“I don’t know. We’ve already done everything. I’m bored.” I answered. I had brought my journal along and I had filled up most of the pages. I would need a new one soon. I had so many pieces of writing in it.
“Would you rather head home?” He asked and I shrugged. I hated that we spent all this money to get bored and go home.
“I mean… I love traveling I really do but it’s getting boring.” I answered. My imagination was wild and this was not what I was expecting would happen. We should have only come for a few days not nearly two months.
“If you want to go home we can. I won’t mind. I agree that it’s getting boring.” I nodded my head before he went around packing. “Get packing.” He answered while through some clothes at me and I giggled.
“You really don’t mind?” I asked and he shook his head.
“I really don’t. I was missing my car anyway.”
Today we were both starting our new jobs. We had slept in different rooms last night and we shouldn’t have because I didn’t sleep at all last night. I was nervous that I would screw something up. But I was born to do this and I was more than excited. I had showered and dried my hair before doing my makeup and putting on a blue dress that I had bought before our trip along with a pair of black heels. I came down the stairs and Jared was already in the kitchen making breakfast.
“Good morning.” He chirped to me kissing me as he placed two pancakes on a plate for me and handed it to me.
“Morning.” I answered smiling at him.
“You look lovely.” He said and I smiled at him again looking down at what I was wearing.
“Thanks.” I said to him while we both ate. Once we were done we both got into our cars and drove over to work. They had actually given me an office because one of the other guys had quit. I got a full office to myself and it was awesome.
“Hey Ryan.” A girl said to me and I smiled at her. Her name was Kahleey. It was spelled really weird. It was Kaylee just spelled differently and I loved that. I loved names that weren’t normal. I had learned to love my name. That it was unique for a girl to have a name like mine but I loved it anyway.
“Hey Kayleey. How was your morning?” I asked as she followed behind me into my office and she sat down on an extra chair that I had in there.
“Good how was yours?” She asked.
“It was good.” The people who worked here all knew each other very well. I loved working here.
“Woah! Who the hell drive’s the ferrari out there?” One of the guys, Parker asked coming into the little area and I laughed.
“I do, why?” I questioned.
“You drive a ferrari?” He asked and I slowly nodded my head. His jaw dropped. Why was everyone so surprised when they found out that’s what I drove? “Yo, you’re family is rich!” He shouted and high fived me and I laughed.
“It’s not my family. It’s my boyfriends family. I just live with them and they bought us each one.” I answered before getting back to my desk. I was told that if I wanted this job I needed to act serious and my first thing to write was an essay saying that I was going to be serious at all times. Here we go.
I walked into the factory where I was working and met up with Rob. I couldn’t believe I was actually being paid to sort of stand around and joke around all day.
“Okay so Jared.” Rob started and I looked up at him. “You know my show, Ridiculousness.” He said and I nodded my head. Me and Ryan watch it together every single day. “I want you to be on it with me.” He said and I smiled getting super excited.
“Yes! Can I bring my girlfriend?” I asked.
“You can bring anyone you want.”
“I mean like can she be on the show too?” I asked and he nodded his head.
“Whatever makes you happy.” He answered. I knew I was going to love this job.
*FOUR YEARS LATER RYAN P.O.V*
Me and Jared had finally bought our own place. It had three bedrooms and one bathroom. It was big enough for the two of us. I loved it just being us two. I laid beside him after both of us getting home from work. We were both starving but neither one of us wanted to make any food.
“How was work?” Jared asked and I shrugged.
“The usual.” I answered with Christmas being in a little over a month everyone was freaking out about getting their work done. “What about you?” I asked.
“Really good.” He answered before sitting up. “I’m going to go and get a pizza okay?” He asked and I nodded my head. I laid back down before the feeling of nausea came over to me. I knew I needed to tell him but I was so scared. We were both 22, well he was turning 23 in a few months. I figured we would be together for the rest of our lives but he might leave me once he finds this out. I had just found out and I hadn’t told anyone yet. I went to the doctor and they said I was 8 weeks. I was eight weeks pregnant. Me and Jared have been together for seven years and most people would get married after being together for that long but we were still young.
I was laying in bed when Jared came in with a box of pizza.
“Hello.” He said kissing me and placing the box at my feet.
“I need to tell you something.” I said to him and he looked at me.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Well, nothing is wrong. Not in my mind. I actually like it but you might not.” I said to him playing with my fingers and placing my hand on my stomach. He gave me a confused look.
“What’s going on?” He asked looking at my hand.
“I’m pregnant.” I said and his face was frozen for a second for a second before he sat down on the bed and placed his hand over mine.
“Are you serious?” He asked as tears sprung in his eyes and I nodded my head.
“Eight weeks.” I answered. He smiled as tears fell from his eyes.
“Hello in there. I’m your daddy. I’m going to take great care of you. I promise.” He said before he leaned forward and kissed my belly and then my lips. “We won’t be like our parents.” He said and I agreed. No child should have to go through what me and Jared had gone through. I wish my mother could be there to meet my child and be there at my wedding if we were ever going to get married. I wouldn’t mind if we didn’t. I wouldn’t mind if we did.
“What do you want it to be?” I asked him.
“A girl. So I can spoil her to death.” He smiled at me while he dug into the pizza and I followed behind him. “What do you want?” He asked.
“A girl.” I wanted a little girl just like me. Was that selfish? I wanted a little girl who fought for what she thought was right. I wanted to have a strong little girl. One who didn’t care what other’s thought. One who loved with all her heart and never gave up. I wanted a little girl to put to bed every night and let her know that she was loved. That she was beautiful and she was worth it. I wouldn’t let her suffer like my mother did to me. Her struggles will not go unnoticed. I can promise her that.
I can’t promise her a perfect life because no one has a perfect life. But I can promise her a great one. One where her parents are together and happy and neither one of them are substance abusers. To my little girl. I promise her the world. I promise her anything I can give her anything she could possibly need or want.
“Are you happy?” He blurted out and I smiled.
“More than happy.” I said and he kissed me. “We should get married.” I blurted.
“What? You’re only saying that because you’re pregnant.” He said and I looked over at him.
“No. I love you. Why would I not want to be getting married?” I said and he thought about it.
“Okay. I guess I’m in.” He said. “So that’s it? We’re engaged?” He asked.
“Yeah, I guess.” I said.
“What?” I asked.
“I don’t know, it just feels weird.” He said before he got off the bed and went into the kitchen. “Oh! I know!” He said. “Maybe this will help.” He said and when I turned to look at him he was down on one knee holding a ring. “Ryan, will you marry me?” He said and I began to cry.
