Maybe it's a Good Thing

Hey, I'm Veda. And my life sucks. My father, that I never meet wants me to come live with him Australia. I know, terrible. Things seem different when I meet 3 girls and there 4 friends. Maybe it's a good thing I came here, I guess.

We hugged for a minute more and then we pulled apart.

"Sorry." He said.

"It's - it's fine" I said, playing with my ombre hair.

"Hey! That's right! You dye your hair! Me too, it's obviously Blue right now." He said.

"Yep, it's been ombré for a while now, I had it Black before." I said.

"Really? I couldn't. Picture you as a girl with Black hair. That's really cool. Did you know I have died my hair 17 times?" He said standing up and walking to my vanity.

"Careful, your hair might fall out." I snapped.

"Zip it, Veda." He said.

"The facts man." I said.

"You know, you're really cool Veda Grace. You're not like other girls, I've never met someone like you." He said.

"I'm not like the others." I said.

"I can tell. It's just, every girl around here is fake. They aren't themselves. It's like Gwen, Delia and Aria, they aren't the people they seem to be." He said.

"So, how are they really?" I asked.

"Well, they're actually really cool, fun people." He said.

"And- that's it?"

"What else am I suppose to say?"

"Question? How would you describe me?" I asked.

"Cool, chill, laid back, funny, sassy, pretty and.." He said.

"You just said I'm -"

"Wait, yes I uh- no I said pretty lame."

"Oh ok." I said as he blushed.

He thinks I'm cute?

"So? Clifford, what do you want to do?" I asked him.

"Do you want to- to talk?" He asked.

"Sure, talk away." I said.

"So, you watch American Horror story?" He said.

"Yep." I said.

He laughed "seriously?"

"Yeah why?"

"Never mind, your turn to talk." He said.

"Ok, so why did Luke get all mad when I say in 'his' chair?"

" Long story."

" I got all day buddy."

" fine. Well, it's complicated. A couple years ago, when me and the gang were all like 8. We all came for dinner and- and the boys an I were on this little league team and and- your dad was the coach. And we were celebrating the game we had won that day. And so, Luke, he was pretty good at baseball. He was the pitcher and always got home runs. He did really good that day, causing us to win. And when we came back here for dinner, your dad gave this toast to the little League team and he said stuff to Luke. How he was super proud of him, like the proud kind of father-son thing. So, Your dad gave Luke the "special seat" and he's had to sit there ever since.Luke and Delia don't have a dad so, it was a big deal for Luke. Your dad sort of became like a father figure for Luke." He said.

"Oh, that explains it. Sort of."

"Yep. Luke's sort of an ass to be honest." He said

"I could tell. Well I think I'm going to go to bed." I said.

"Ok, wait, it's like seven o'clock." He said.

"I'm still getting used to the new time zone. See ya." I said.

"Ok see you around, hey wait, are you busy tomorrow?"

"Do you want to go out for ice-cream or something? Like a date? Or whatever you call it?"

"A date?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Sounds cool, text me the details." I said walking him out of my room.

After he left I shut my door and smiled. I have never been on one before. So, that's cool.
