Obviously, we would have to move. But, we were pretty much poor. Living in New York City isn't cheap.
I didn't really mind moving. I hated it here anyways.
I didn't think we would move out of the country. But, we had no other choice. Our only option was to move in with my Aunt Mia in Australia. I hadn't ever met her. But, I was excited to move in with her.
It's like starting over.
We arrived in Australia. Aunt Mia was waiting at the airport holding up a sign that said 'Welcome Home, Rachel and Alice!' I thought it was weird. This wasn't my home. But, whatever
. We went over to her and she hugged us both tight.
"Oh, Alice! How big you've gotten! I haven't seen you in seventeen years!" I could already tell that I didn't like her.
I just smiled and told her it was nice to meet her. We then got in her car and drove back to her place.
Her house was a lot nicer than I expected. It was pretty big. She already had two rooms set up for us.
I guess I was already a little homesick. Maybe just really depressed. I just didn't want to be around my too-happy aunt.
I went outside and sat on the front porch. I watched the birds fly around and the sky change colors as the sun set.
As I was about to go inside, this boy walks by. He turned at the house next to mine and went to walk inside. He turned around to check the mail box, that's when he saw me.
He was so cute. We stared at each other for a good ten seconds. Then he says,
"Hi, I'm M-Michael." He paused.
"And who are you?"
I just stared for a few seconds.
"I'm Alice. I just moved in."
You could see his eyes light up a bit.
"Alice. I like it. How about you stay there, and I'll meet you there in about ten minutes? I'd like to meet my new neighbor"
I giggled. "I'll be waiting!"
