I feel asleep in Luke's bed, crying while he held me. He put a blanket over me and left me there while he made Ashton leave. I woke up when Luke was screaming at Ashton downstairs. Calling him names and asking him why he did it. Ashton had no answer. When he left, Luke came back upstairs. I closed my eyes and made believe I was sleeping. He sat next to me and put his hand on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry. This is all my fault." He started crying. I slowly opened my eyes, "It's okay, Luke, you didn't know." He just shook his head and cried harder.
Luke let me sleep at his house again.
"It's Michael's. He left it here." He said as he handed me an Iron Maiden t-shirt, so I could wear it to bed. It still smelt like him. I slipped it over my naked body. I didn't care that Luke was right there. He was kinda like a best friend to me now. We laid in his bed together, "We'll go see Michael as soon as we wake up, okay?"
"Good, I need to."
We woke up early in the morning and got dressed. I borrowed a t-shirt and sweatpants from Luke. We went to the hospital right away. Michael was sleeping when we got to his room. I waited there while Luke went to the cafeteria. I reached over and shook Michael gently by his shoulders. "Michael.." His eyes opened right away and he flashed a smile. "Hey, guess what?"
"What?" I asked, curiously.
"I'm being released today!"
"Yeah, the doctors said it's a miracle that I made it. If I would've got under the wheel of that truck, I would've died." He said.
"Well, thank god that didn't happen." I smiled and hugged him. He seemed a lot better, I guess the doctors were wrong about the 10% chance.
We sat in his room and talked, I noticed his voice getting slower and more quiet. "Michael, are you okay?"
"Yeah, of course."
All of a sudden, a few of the machines start beeping like crazy. A nurse and two doctors came running in and basically shoved me out the door. "I need her to stay!" He yelled, and they completely ignored him. I had no idea what was happening.
I ran down to the cafeteria to find Luke. "Luke!"
"Yeah, what?" He said muffled, looking up with his mouth stuffed and a sandwich in his hands.
"Michael-" I said, out of breath.
"Michael what?" He asked.
I started to cry. "All the machines started going off, I don't know what's wrong."
"Shit." He whispered and rubbed his face with the palms of his hands.
I went back up to the waiting room and Luke followed. He stood in front of me. "You can't stay here."
"But I'm waiting for him."
"I don't care. You can't do this to yourself." He said as he sat down next to me, and wiped a few tears away that were sitting on my face.
"I'm not leaving." I said, looking away from him. He got up and dragged me up by my arms. "You're leaving."
I sighed. "Okay, boss." I followed him out and into his car. "Where are we going?"
"I can't complain." I said.
We pulled up in front of a cafe. It was so small and cozy. We both ordered, and Luke paid for both of us.
We were sitting there, enjoying our coffee when Ashton walks in. Oh, great.
He glanced over at us, then walked up to the front of the cafe to order. After he ordered, he walked over to us. He pulled out the chair that was right next to me and sat down.
"Get the fuck out. Now." Luke said. You could tell he was furious.
I looked down and moved my chair closer to Luke.
"You can't tell me what to do." Ashton smirked. "Let's go, Alice." Luke got up and walked out. I took my coffee, gave Ashton a dirty look, and walked out.
