It was finally the last day of school. I could finally get away from all the people I hated for a while, that was pretty much everyone.
I didn't have any friends, really. I don't know why. I shouldn't have been so excited for summer, but I was.
I got home and sat in my room on my laptop for the rest of the night. As usual. What a great way to start the break. It would be like this every night for the rest of the summer, or so I thought.
I woke up at 4:30 AM to the sound of the fire alarm. I ignored it at first. I was half asleep and I didn't really think.
Five minutes later, I felt the thick smoke creep into my lungs. I jumped out of bed and looked for my mom. The hallway was blocked with fire and smoke.
I had no choice but to pray my mother was safe and go through my window.
I ran to my window and opened it. I looked down. The second floor never seemed so high.
But, I had no choice.
Somehow, I made it down safely. I guess the bush broke my fall. My mom was there, thankfully.
By the time the firemen arrived, out whole house was done. Destroyed. The fire was gone, only devastation remained.
We walked through our house, everything blackened with smoke and burned. I was speechless. My mind went blank. My entire home, everything I ever owned.
Gone in the blink of an eye.
