Kyle lunges forward and grabs Joss by his collar. "What the hell do you know?" He presses angrily.
"Hey, get away from him!" Marshal tries to grab at Kyle, but Joss puts up a hand to stop him. He closes his eyes then. "I know a lot, a lot more than you know do."
Kyle loosens his grip on his shirt and takes a step away from him. "What exactly do you know?"
I groan as another stab of pain clicks into my head.
Joss glances at me. "I know that in approximately 168 hours, Jemma will be dead; unless you can find a way to stop The Lite Group from deactivating a few nerves in her head."
Kyle clenches his fists. "Why do they want her dead so badly? Is it because of the voice?"
I feel Joss studying me. "It seems like they no longer have a use for her now that her voice has been terminated. For that reason, she is just a stray, useless science experiment that will possibly be harmful to their future developments."
"What? That's insane! They're gonna kill her now just because her voice is gone!" Katrina speaks up furiously.
"Seems so," Joss nods calmly.
Marshal crosses his arms. "So who exactly are these people anyway?"
"That part I'm not exactly sure of, but-"
"Can they be stopped?" Kyle cuts in.
Joss makes eye contact with him. "How can they be stopped if they don't exist?"
The room falls silent.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Kyle asks after the silence becomes unbearable.
"From my knowledge, it seems that The Lite Group is very good at erasing its footsteps, leaving no traces of their work or brands behind, and acting without being noticed. In other words, this is a very confidential organization. People may know that they exist, but what they don't know is where, why, or how, which is the most crucial part. What I'm really trying to say is that you'll never be able to find these people, there's no way that they can be stopped."
"That's bullshit!" Kyle growls. "Jemma's voice told her where they were! That voice is connected to the Lite Group, so it's information must be right!"
Joss shakes his head. "The voice may have informed you of only one location, and if anything, did it even give you an address or a legitament place in this supposed location? If it didn't, then there's no way that information could have been useful. Besides, that could have just been one location that they were at, knowing an organization like that, they probably have many different locations around the world that these voices could be coming from."
"Joss," Marshal says softly. "How do you know all of this?"
Something flickers in his eyes then. "I-I don't know, I just do."
"Fuck!" Kyle screams suddenly then. Katrina walks over to him and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, sh, it's alright."
"No, it's not alright! Jemma is going to die and it's all my fault!" He shouts back.
"Hey!" I croak. He looks at me, fear glazed in his eyes. "Y-You just told me," I speak as I struggle to stand up. "That you're not going to let them kill me."
He stares at me.
"I told you, no matter what, w-we have to try. We haven't even made it to Arizona yet and all of you are already doubting what could happen! Until we follow our lead, we can't say anything!" I scream shakily.
"Jemma," Kyle starts.
I put my hand up now. "N-No, we're going to Arizona Kyle, and I don't care if I die trying to get there. As a matter of fact, as long as you and Katrina can get rid of your voices, as long as I can help at least one person get through this hell; I don't fucking care if I'm going to die! If I don't make it in time, you two could still possibly be saved, isn't that enough to keep you going? This whole thing was never just for me, we broke out of that school for you too Kyle, so, we're doing this for all of us!" My head turns light and fuzzy again, and I stumble backwards, but Kyle catches me before I fall.
He puts his forehead against mine, and smiles softly at me. "Alright Jemma, but I don't want you to push yourself to do anymore motivational speeches like that OK?" He whispers.
I smile too. "O-OK, sorry."
He pulls away from me. "Alright, it's settled then, we're going to Arizona, whether any of you like it or not."
"Jackass," I hear Marshal mumble.
Kyle makes eye contact with him. "Are you coming or not?"
He sighs. "As long as I can keep any eye on Jemma around you, I'll go wherever she goes."
"A-And I'll go wherever Marshall goes!" Joss stutters anxiously.
Katrina raises her hand. "I guess I'll come too, no way I'm going back to that hell already, you can bet on that."
I smile softly at her. "OK, then let's go."
