I felt the car stop moving, and my eyes shot open. I didn't even get to actually take a quick nap. So, I just sat there with my eyes closed for the entire ride...relaxing a little.
I looked over at Harry who was already unfastening his seat belt. Sunglasses were hooked on the collar area of his shirt. In just a few seconds, he was already out of the car and at the back of the car.
I followed suit and got out of the car. The sunlight caused me to close my eyes for a second and then reopen them. When I got out, I began to look around the area.
"Where the hell are we?"
My eyes soaked in the sight around me, which really wasn't as extravagant as I expected to be. There was nothing but trees. Big and tall trees. And house, dead in the middle of all those trees.
Harry chuckled a little and took in a deep breath. "Ahhh," he groaned out, exhaling in the process. "I love the smell of Mother Nature." His green eyes were burning with excitement.
"We're out in the middle of nowhere, Harry."
He looked over at me. "That's the point," he smirked. "The more secluded we are, the better. No one will be able to find us out here Liv. No one."
I watched as Harry threw my duffel bag over his shoulder and Ren was grabbing Harry's suitcase out of the trunk.
The sound of the front door of the two-story wooden house in front of us opening, made my attention shift elsewhere. Out came a guy, 25 at the most. Maybe he's Harry's age?
He was wearing a white tank top with a pair of black joggers. His hair was blonde with a dark brown at the roots. A bright smile was spread across his lips as he spotted Harry.
Harry returned his smile, and started walking towards him. "Niall!" he said, a grin across his lips. "How are you, man?" Harry gave Niall a quick hug before pulling away. Harry turned towards me, waving me over.
Harry looked genuinely happy as he stood in front of his friend. I smiled at the guy as he extended his arm out. "Hello," he said, his Irish accent filling my ears. "Nice to meet you. I'm Niall. Niall Horan." I shook his hand steadily and then we both let go.
"Nice to meet you too," I responded. "I'm Liv Knight."
A chuckle escaped his lips, and I raised my eyebrow. He averted his gaze over to Harry, who now had a smirk on his lips. "Now really," Niall grinned. "Who is she Harry? Your girlfriend?"
I glanced over at Harry who had an embarrassed look over his face. His lips pursed as Niall's question wandered across his mind. After watching Harry contemplate about what to respond with to Niall for a few more seconds, I couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm just his friend," I spoke for him. I quickly glanced over at Harry who was obviously dumbfounded. His eyes widened a little bit. Harry affirmed by nodding his head in agreement.
"Yeah," he murmured. "Friends. Just friends."
I felt my heart sink a little in my chest.
Just friends, huh?
Niall looked at both of us. A smirk spread over his lips. "Okay," he sighed, clasping his hands in front of him. "Well, how about I show you guys inside?"
Harry nodded before signaling Ren to bring our bags inside. Harry trailed behind Niall, who was walking towards the doorway of his house. I followed a few seconds later, with Ren on my trail.
The air just got a lot thicker. "Don't take it personally," he said reassuringly behind me. "He does this all the time."
What? Toying with women's emotions? Making them feel like they are so important to him, but not wanting to publicize their relationship.
"I'm guessing I have a lot to learn Ren," I replied, briefly looking over my shoulder.
He chuckled behind me. "Of course you do. That's the perks of being a part of Mr. Styles's life."
I rolled my eyes unconsciously. I entered Niall's home and its appearance caught me off guard.
As I glanced around at the many picture frames posted up on the walls, I smiled to myself. His house felt comfy, roomy, and safe. This is exactly what I needed right now.
"I know its not fancy like your old place probably was H," Niall smiled while looking over at Harry. "But, its going to have to do, eh?"
Niall started walking up the stairs that led to the second level of his home, and Harry followed after him. I caught myself still glancing around and looking at all the pictures on the walls. Niall was adorable as a child.
"Liv right?" Niall spoke, snapping me out of my little trance. I nodded. "You coming?"
I smiled nervously before beginning to walk up the staircase.
"Wow Niall," Harry commented. "You've fixed this place up a lot since the last time I've been here."
Niall chuckled. "Well that's just Dad and Greg's doing. Mostly Greg's, but still."
When I finally reached the next level, Harry and Niall were standing in the middle of the hallway. The hallway was filled with at least 5 separate rooms.
"Okay," Niall smiled. "I have two rooms for the both of you. But, I'm guessing you will be sleeping together, right?" A smirk formed over Niall's lips and he cocked his eyebrow.
"No," I cut Harry off.
C'mon Liv. Don't be a bitch.
Harry was already gazing at me, his jaw clenched. "I'll take the other room you have Niall if you wouldn't mind."
Too bad. I'm going to be a bitch.
Harry's eyes widened and so did Niall's. I could hear Ren chuckling behind me.
"Get him, Liv!"
I had to bite my lip to keep myself from smiling about Ren's thoughts. Harry looked over at him and sent him a hate filled glare.
Niall placed his hand on the back of his neck and coughed a little. "Uh yeah, sure. It's that one right there," he added, pointing at the room at the very end of the hallway.
He looked at me a little perplexed. One eyebrow slightly raised. "Don't mention it."
And with that, I turned around and grabbed my bag from Harry's hand. I swung it over my shoulder and marched towards my room.
As I began to walk down the hallway, I could still feel Harry's eyes on me. I slammed the door shut, throwing my bag onto the somewhat small bed. Raking my fingers through my hair, I paced back in forth across the room. The medium sized room.
God, Harry Styles was so fucking frustrating. So infuriating. I've only known this man for almost a few months now, and he's driving me insane. There's too much to him. Too many stories, too much history. Too much shit that I've gotten myself thrown into.
What the hell was I thinking? My entire life will never be normal again. Just one look at this mysterious man ignited something inside of me that will never be extinguished. A kind of need...want...desire...craving.
A knock on the door made me freeze in place. "Liv?" It was him. I'm not surprised. "Can we t-talk?" I could tell he wanted an answer as he spoke on the other side of the door.
I didn't answer. Instead I just sat down on the bed and placed my hands over my face. I guess Harry wasn't taking 'no' for an answer because the door swung open a few silent seconds later.
In came Harry, his eyebrows furrowed, his bright pink lips pursed in confusion. He shut the door behind him, and stood in front of door with his arms folded across his chest.
"Would you like to tell me what the hell that was all about?" he questioned.
"Oh," I sighed. I stood up, proudly walking over to him. "You fucking tell me? What happened to all the bullshit you were saying last night, huh?" I could smell his strong cologne radiating off of him, distracting me a little. "We have a strong connection, Liv," I mimicked him in the best British accent I could do at the time.
I could tell he was getting irritated. He clenched his jaw and placed his hands on his hips. "There's something much bigger going on here," I continued. His green eyes narrowed as he watched me curiously. "Ha, you're a fucking joke Harry Styles." I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "A fucking joke. Do you say that to all the women you're with? Do you make them believe all of your bullshit so you can get what you want?"
I wasn't even paying attention to what he was doing now.
I was heated.
"You dragged me all the way across the fucking world, and all you have to say is that we're just friends?" I looked up into his green eyes that were staring at me intensely. His adam's apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed. "What?" I pryed. "You don't have anything to say?" He just continued to stare at me blankly, his face relaxed. "Un-fucking-believeable," I hissed between my teeth.
"You know what?" I paused, placing the tip of my finger across his chest muscular chest. I felt his muscles tense underneath my finger, and I tried to ignore it the best I could. "Fuck you." I poked him, causing him to back up into the door. "Fuck you. Fuck you. I'm tired of all these mixed signals, Harry," I sighed. "Either you want me, or not. It's just that simple. I can kindly leave you alone if you're embarrassed or yo-"
It took me a few seconds to realize what had happened next. Harry grabbed my wrist and held it tightly before his bright pink lips met mine. Sparks shot up my spine, all of my rage disappearing by the second. His arm immediately wrapped its way protectively around my waist.
Pushing me backwards, I landed on the bed softly. The kiss was filled with longing and desire. I could drown in it. His lips were intoxicating, his scent overwhelming. Harry's hand trailed underneath the brim of my shirt, his hand stopping on the plane of my stomach. Reaching up towards his shirt, I began to unbutton it. Swirls of ink began to show bit by bit.
He was a masterpiece. A true work of art.
My hand began to wander across his chest, eliciting a small moan from the back of Harry's throat. My other hand ran up towards those beautiful locks of his that I've been wanting to touch. His hair is so soft. God.
Suddenly, Harry broke the kiss and my eyes shot open. He was still hovering over me. His green eyes were filled with lust, his pink lips slightly swollen.
What a beautiful sight to see...
He brought a hand up to my face and he cupped the side of my face with his large hand. "You don't know how long I've been wanting to do that Liv," he says, a small smile spreading across his lips.
He doesn't know how long I've been waiting to do that.
His thumb brushed across my bottom lip, a shiver running down my spine. "Does that answer your question now?"
I shifted underneath him. "A little," I responded, a smile ghosting across my lips. "I'm still mad at you though."
Harry furrowed his eyebrows. "And why would that be?" He widened the distance between us by rolling onto the other side of the bed.
"I already told you," I breathed out. I raised up, only to prop myself up on my elbow. I looked over to see his lean figure stretched out across the bed. His shirt was still unbuttoned, allowing me to clearly see the tattoos intricately drawn across his upper body.
He glanced over at me and pursed his lips. "Look," he sighed. "Don't take this personally."
Well, now I'm nervous.
"But, I've never done this before." Harry pointed at me, then back to himself.
"And what is this?"
He swiped his tongue across his lips. "It's something, that's for sure." Harry let out a small laugh. An awkward pause occurred."I've never been the romantic type. I've never been the one to buy lovey shit and do all of the hand holding crap."
I felt a frown form across my lips. This conversation is making me feel better and better by the second! Not!
"I-I just don't know how this is going to work out."
He shifted his gaze to the other side of the room. I watched as he swallowed slowly, his fingers tapping on the top of his thigh.
Well, at least he's letting you down easily Liv. You tried.
"But," he smiled. He turned his attention back to me, his green eyes meeting my brown ones. A small smile was spread across his beautiful lips. Harry took my hands into his, and brought them so close to his lips that they grazed across my knuckles.
"I'm not going to promise you anything," he smirked. "Because I know I'm going to be lousy at this whole thing. But, just know that I want to try this out. Us out. "
I was grinning like an idiot right now. Harry's eyes were beaming with amusement as he continued to look me in the eyes. "Think of it as...a test run?"
I raised my eyebrow. "A test run?" He nodded. I scoffed playfully. "Last time I checked, I wasn't a car. I'm a living, breathing human being."
He rolled is eyes and let out a small chuckle. "But, this," he said before placing a kiss to my knuckles. "Is going to be a fun test run." After every single word that left his lips, he trailed a set of kisses up my arm, to my collarbone. He froze and peered up at me through his rather long eyelashes.
I still can't get over how stunning he is. I can't get enough of him.
"Fine," I breathed, a smile spreading across the lips. "If you're willing to try, then I might as well be too."
His eyes filled with excitement. A split second later, his soft lips were on mine again. My lips began to move with his, before he broke the kiss. I bit on his bottom lip softly and he groaned.
"I'm afraid you aren't going to be too good for my health Ms. Knight." His fingers began to rake through my hair and I smiled seductively.
"I think the same goes for you, Styles."
He placed another chaste kiss to my lips, and when he pulled away I pouted.
"Don't pout," he smirked. "You're way too beautiful for that."
"One more? Please?" I drew my bottom lip into my mouth and a flicker of passion appeared in his emerald eyes.
He raised his eyebrow. "One more wh-" Then a wave of realization washed over his face. Harry's lips formed the perfect smirk. "It would be my pleasure," he said huskily, and I laughed.
He leaned forward, narrowing the distance between us. His lips met mine again, a sweet feeling of delight swelling up inside of me. The kiss was quick, but something was different about it. A good different.
"I think we should get out of this room," he smiled, his forehead resting against my own. His hand raised up to cup the side of my face. Harry ran his thumb comfortingly across my cheek. "Beautiful," he whispered. I blushed. "Let's not start this up again," he laughed, pulling away quickly. "Because next time...I might not be able to stop."
My cheeks were probably a bright red now. I bit my lip to hide my embarrassment. Harry chuckled. "You can stay here and rest for a while if you want? I'll come back up here and get you once dinner is ready."
"Where are you going?"
"To talk to Bobby," he replied, buttoning his shirt back up.
"Niall's dad," he elaborated. "Haven't seen him in a while. This is his house after all, and I feel bad for just barging in last minute."
"Well, go and talk to him. I think resting for a while would be a good idea right about now."
Harry chuckled. "Okay, see you in a few." He pressed a quick kiss on the top of my forehead before standing up from the bed and walking towards the door. I flipped over onto my stomach, and I heard the door shut with a click.
I smiled into the pillow that I was resting my head on.
He's willing to try, Liv. You did it! And now, I'm just hoping this decision doesn't come back around to bite me in the ass...
I walked out of the room, and shut the door behind me. Liv is changing me...I can feel it. I've noticed it. I feel, uh different I guess you could say? I don't know if feeling different is a good thing or not yet. But, that will come in time I guess.
"Hey," Niall greeted me in the hallway. He scanned me up and down. "Everything okay with you two lovebirds?"
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, we're fine. Just hit a bump in the road."
"You really like her huh, H?"
I glanced over at him. "Yeah," I replied, a smile ghosting over my lips. "I do."
He nodded his head. "Good," he smiled before patting me on the back. "You need someone to keep you in check since I'm not around as much anymore."
I chuckled. "I didn't need you when you were around to be a pain in my ass."
"Keep telling yourself that, buddy," he laughed before patting me on the back once more.
Truth is, Niall is the closest thing I have to a best friend. We've known each other since we were little. My father and his father were best friend. When I was about 6, we came to Ireland to stay with Niall and his family for a few months. Dad never told me why, but I trusted him. But, now that I look back at it, I think he was trying to hide something from me. From all of us...
"Where's your dad at?" I asked Niall, my hands on my hips.
He laughed. I raised my eyebrow in curiosity. "You know where that old man always is," Niall smiled. "You should know where he is by now, as long as you've been around."
"In his office?"
Niall nodded. "Ding, ding, ding," he said, a smile on his lips. "And you're correct."
I glance over at him and punch him playfully in the arm. He's always been quite the goofball. Always laughing and being happy. If Niall isn't smiling, there's definitely something going on.
"You're going to do some Extra shit together?" he laughed. I looked over at him, and his smile has faded a little. Niall had always talked about wanting to be an Extra, ever since we were little. He wished he could be like me, my dad, and his dad. Oh how he had dreamt of it.
"No," I responded back to him honestly. "I just want to say thank you to him for letting me and Liv barge in like this."
"This is your home too, Harry," Niall said. "You're like family. You're always welcome here."
I flashed him a smile and I started to walk down the hallway. "Lemme know when dinner is ready," I yelled back at him.
"Psshh," he said playfully. "You know I'm going to eat it before you even get down there. First come, first serve Harry. Don't forget that because it's the rule of thumb."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Bullshit, Niall."
As I headed back down to the main level, I heard Niall laughing his ass off from behind me. God, he was so crazy. But, that's why I love him like a brother. He's the closest thing I've ever had to a brother.
Once I reached the first floor, I walked to the left and turned around the corner. I followed the long hallway that was in front of me until I reached the very end of it. Meeting two wooden double doors at the end, I knocked on them softly.
"Come in," Niall's dad said. I pushed through the door to find him reclined back in a black leather chair, his feet propped up on his desk. His eyes scanned me up and down curiously.
Bobby sighed. "Wow, kid. You've grown up a lot since the last time I've seen ya."
I studied him curiously.
He was wearing a blue striped button up, collared dress shirt. He was wearing khaki slacks with a brown pair of loafers on his feet. His used to be blonde hair was becoming frosted at the tips with hints of grey, his entire beard filled with the color grey now.
And you've gotten a lot older since the last time I've seen you.
I smirked at him. He sent a warning glare. "Don't even think about saying it."
I put my hands out in front of me defensively and laughed. "Don't worry, Bobby. I'm an adult now."
He scoffed. "Well if you're such an adult," he said while sitting up in his chair. He leaned over his desk and waived me over to one of the nearby chairs. I sat down in the medium sized chair. "Tell me why you're under my roof again. And don't try to sugar coat it either son, because you know bullshit does not work well with me."
I met his eyes. See, this is what I love about Bobby. He gets straight to the point. Nothing gets past him.
"The Enforcers," I simply replied.
Bobby ran his hand across his jaw and let out a pent up sigh. "What did you do, boy?"
"Well...I went back into England on accident."
He froze in place. "Didn't your father and you agree on what would happen if you ever returned there, Harry?" he asked. I shook my head slowly. "How could you be so stupid?" His voice rose in volume.
"I know, I know," I admitted.
"And now, you're bringing this shit into my territory," he exasperated. "In my own home?"
I averted his gaze and began to fumble with my fingers. "I know this is a lot to ask f-"
"No shit," he cut me off grimly.
"But, this is the only place I could think of coming, Bobby. You and my father were best friends. I think of you as my other father. I just need your help to get me out of this situation."
"There's no getting out of this situation, Harry," he emphasized. "Once you make a deal with the Enforcers, it'd be best for you not to break that deal." His fingers began to tap on the wooden surface of his desk. "Now, they're just going to kill you Harry. Just like they killed your father."
My heart dropped.
"W-What?" I stammered. "My father killed himself," I breathed out shakily. "N-No one kille-"
Bobby's eyes widened as he cut me off. "What? You didn't know that, boy?"
I couldn't speak. This isn't right. My father killed himself.
"My father killed himself, Bobby," I repeated once more, my eyes staring into his. What he had just said had still not seeped into my brain. I don't believe him.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk," Bobby said. "You don't believe me, son?" He shook his head and threw his head back against the head rest of his chair. Bobby clucked his tongue. "Looks like I'll need to fill you in on some things Harry."
How many things?
He stared at me before swallowing slowly. "A lot of things."
