WEEK 1 - TUESDAY
"Girls, wake up. Breakfast is ready." My mom says.
I moan and rub my eyes before opening them. I slowly stand up. The other girls are awake too and they all are in a mess, tangled legs, arms, laying over others. I chuckle and quickly grab my phone.
"Lay down. Don't move." I say.
I go to camera and take a picture of them. I laugh at how they are positioned.
"This one is for Instagram." I say.
"No. Don't you dare posting that on Instagram." Leah says giving me a death glare.
"Okay, I won't, but I'm going to send it to our group on WhatsApp." I tell them.
I tap on the screen a few times and then it's sent.
"Done." I say.
The girls grab their phones to look at the picture. They all are connected to the Wifi from my house.
"Haha, look at your face Michelle!" Joy laughs.
"Have you seen yours yet?" Michelle bites back.
"Girls, breakfast is ready. School starts in 30 minutes." My mom says while looking at us from the kitchen.
"Shit." I mumble.
"Shit." I hear Leah mumble at the same time and I chuckle.
"What?" Leah asks.
"We said 'shit' at the same moment." I say.
"That means we're meant to be friends." She states.
"Yeah." I say.
I wrap my arm around her shoulder and we walk to the kitchen. We both sit down at the kitchen counter and start eating the eggs and bacon that my mom served on the plates.
"Thank you Mrs. Hardings. It's delicious as always." Joy says and she stuffs another bite into her mouth.
"How many times do I have to tell you that you can call me Ella." My mom laughs.
"But I like Mrs. Hardings better." Sandra jokes.
"Oh, please, that makes me sound like I'm old." Mom says smiling.
"But you are, mom." I say and the girls start laughing along with my mom.
When we're done eating we walk upstairs and one by one we take the bathroom to change quickly. We do our hair and make-up in my room, so that the next one can go into the bathroom. 5 minutes later we're all ready to go.
"This is the fastest I've been ready to go to school in like ever." Michelle says.
"Yeah, me too. Maybe we should sleep over here more often." Leah says.
"Good idea, but we should really go now. We're late already." I tell them.
We walk downstairs again.
"Bye mom!" I shout.
"Bye Lilly! Bye girls!" My mom shouts back.
"Bye Ella!" Joy, Michelle and Leah shout in unision.
"Bye Mrs. Hardings!" Sandra is the last one.
I hear my mom laugh before we walk out of the door and start our way to school. Joy puts on some music and we chat and laugh on our way to school. Nothing unusual. What is unusual is that Leah is quiet. Normally, she is the one to be the loudest, always telling stories about fights with her brother. Leah walks a little bit behind us. I slow down so I can walk next to her.
"What's on your mind Albatroaz?" I ask using the nickname I gave her.
I gave her that nickname because when she heard the song I'm An Albatroaz for the first time, she went nuts.
"Nothing. And could you please forget that nickname? I like Unicorn better." She says.
"Okay, Unicorn. I don't believe there's nothing on your mind." I say.
"Then you don't believe it." She mocks.
"C'mon just tell me. You're acting like last night. I want to know what's wrong. Maybe I can solve it. You know I don't like seeing you unhappy." I tell her.
"Fine. But you can't solve it. I know." She gives in.
I wait for her to continue.
"There is this guy. I like him, but he likes someone else." She sighs.
"How long has this been going on?" I ask.
"Not too long." She replies.
"Who is it?" I continue throwing questions at her.
"I don't want to tell." She answers, her face falling even more.
"It hurts you to think about it, doesn't it?"
"Yes." Leah mumbles.
"Okay. I'm happy you told me." I say.
Leah stays quiet. I see we've come to school already.
"Well, here we are. On to another period of English." I say.
I put my books in my locker, only keeping my stuff for English and P.E. in my bag. I smile at the thought of seeing Liam again. We walk to English class. We're just in time, the second we step into the classroom the bell goes signalling everyone has to be in their classrooms.
"Just in time girls. Quickly take your seat." Mr. Clarck tells us.
We smile at him and I look to our usual seats. I notice a guy I've never seen before.
"Looks like our seats aren't available." Sandra says.
We quickly look for some empty seats. There are five empty in the front, so we sit down there.
"Okay, you maybe noticed the guy in the back. Maybe you'd like to introduce yourself?" Mr. Clarck asks him.
"Sure, I'm Niall Horan. I want to be a teacher too, so I look at some teachers from this school to see how to be a teacher." The guy says.
I immediately notice his Irish accent. He has blonde hair and brown roots. He wears a white T-Shirt with CRAZY MOFOS written on it in black. He wears black skinny jeans which are ripped at the knees. To finish it he wears white Allstars and his hair is styled into a quiff. I see a snapback on his table and smile at that. He's still very young I conclude.
"Thank you, Mr. Horan. Class, I want you to do a project in groups of five. You're going to write a book. This can be with drawings or just written. It has to be finished in 5 weeks. You get time to work on this in class, but you also have to do something in your free time, because I'm also going to do some grammar explaining in class." Mr. Clarck says, focusing the attention back on him.
"Today we're going to do some grammar in the first half of class and the second half you can form groups and start brainstorming about your story." He finishes.
We all grab our books and notebook and Mr. Clarck starts explaining.
"He is hot." Joy whispers.
"Yeah, he is. And he's not that old." I say.
"You're unavailable." Michelle teases smirking at me.
"Shut up. We're not together yet. Plus, I can look at other boys if I want to." I tell her, defending myself.
"Ladies, do you mind to share with the class what you're talking about?" Mr. Clarck interrupts.
We stay silent and shake our heads.
"No, rather not." Leah says.
"Okay, but next time I catch you talking I want to hear it. And I bet the class wants too." Mr. Clarck grins at our blushing faces.
We all nod and he continues explaining. We stay quiet and pay attention. 25 minutes later he's done. It's actually quite easy.
"Okay, I'm done explaining. You can form your groups now and start on your story." He says.
The remaining 30 minutes we talk about this mystery Niall Horan. When the bell rings we stand up and head to P.E. We change and walk to the field, since it's still summer.
"Hello girls. You're the first ones." Liam greets us.
"Hello. What are we going to do today?" Joy asks.
"Well, there is a school estafette coming up, so I want to do some running with you to see who's going to run on the match." He replies.
We all cheer and Liam smiles.
"We're so going to win this year!" Sandra says.
"It's boys and girls apart right?" Michelle asks.
"Yes, it is." Liam replies.
He looks around to see the rest of class has arrived. Niall Horan is here too.
"Excuse me for a second." Liam says and walks over to Niall.
They greet and talk like they know each other, but haven't seen one another in a while.
"Okay class! I want to start!" Liam shouts and we all walk over to him and Niall, who is still standing next to him.
"Allright, is everyone present?" Liam asks.
A few nod and Liam continues.
"Today I want to do some running with you, since the school estafette is coming up. This here is Niall Horan, he comes..." Liam starts but he gets interrupted by Niall.
"They already know why I'm here, mate. I was in their previous class too." He laughs.
Liam blushes and nods.
"Don't worry, you couldn't know. I'm just saying it." Niall laughs.
I start to like this guy. He's got humour, he looks good, he's probably very nice. I see Liam looking at me and I wink at him, which makes him blush even deeper. I smile at him.
"Okay, boys and girls, please stand in one line and you run one by one." Liam quickly says.
He and Niall walk to the start/finish. We have to run in a circle. Liam hands Niall a stopwatch and he calls out the first name. The boy runs his circle and Liam writes down the time. It goes on like this for a while and soon it's my turn.
"Lilly Hardings!" Liam shouts.
I walk up to the starts.
"Are you ready, Lilly?" Liam asks.
I nod and Liam blows his whistle, signalling for me to start. I sprint off and run as fast as I can. Before I know it I am over the finish and I hear a bleep of the stopwatch.
"What's her time?" Liam asks Niall.
"56 seconds." Niall replies.
Liam writes it down and then he looks up at me.
"You're a fast runner. The fastest so far." He tells me.
"I try." I puff and smile at him.
Niall laughs and Liam chuckles too. I laugh along with them and then I walk away.
"Ooh, you got cutiepie over there to laugh at you." Sandra teases me.
"Which one?" I smile.
"Both. I wanted to know if you'd ask for one of them." Sandra smiles.
"Let's look how Leah does it." I say getting off the subject.
We look at Leah and chat. Soon everyone has ran their round and Liam calls us together once again.
"Okay, I've got a time from all of you. I know team for the girls already, but the boys have to run once more, because some of their times are the same. Each team has five persons. The team for the girls is: Lilly, Leah, Sandra, Michelle and Joy." He grins and the girls and I cheer.
"Boys, we'll do this again next week." Liam finishes.
"Okay, you can get to your next class now." He says and everyone walks off.
I stay behind, because I want to talk to Liam.
"Lilly, you're a good runner y'know?" Niall says.
"Thank you." I say.
"Mr. Payne, can I talk to you?" I ask Liam.
"Sure, Niall, I'll come later." He says.
"You look cute when you blush." I grin.
Liam blushes again.
"But serious now. About yesterday. Don't feel guilty about it. I didn't mind you came around. You also couldn't know the girls were over." I tell him.
"Okay. I won't feel guilty about it." He smiles.
His smile is so cute, hot, adorable, sexy, everything.
"Okay. See you on Friday?" I ask.
"Yup, see you on Friday." He says.
"Bye." I say and then I walk off again.
The rest of the day went by pretty fast again. But this time I don't have a meeting with Liam.
"You guys want to come over to mine today?" Leah asks.
"No, sorry, I still have to study for that test tomorrow." I say.
The other girls agree to go over to Leah's.
"See you tomorrow then." Leah says.
I hug her, say bye and walk home.
