WEEK 1 - FRIDAY
When I wake up the next morning I want to go back to sleep and skip school. I turn around and close my eyes again when my thoughts go back to the events of last night. When I'm about to doze off again I hear my phone ring. Without looking at the caller ID I pick up the call.
"Hello?" I ask with a sleepy voice.
"Hello, Lilly." The voice answers. I recognise it as Liam's.
"Hi, Liam." I greet him a little more happy.
"How was your conversation with Leah last night?" He asks.
"I don't know. I honestly don't know if she forgave me or if she's still mad at me. I also don't know the real reason why she's angry." I tell him.
"Wow, that's a lot for a conversation. How about your friends?" He says.
"I haven't talked to them yet. I plan to do that today." I say.
"Okay. I'll see you tonight on our very special date. It's all planned out." He says.
"Yeah, see you tonight." I reply.
He hangs up and I decide to get out of bed. I text Joy, Sandra and Michelle to tell them I'm picking them up to walk to school together. Then I call Leah.
"Lilly." She answers, her voice dull.
"Leah, how are you?" I ask.
"Are you coming to school today? Do I have to pick you up?"
"Sure. If it makes you happy."
"You're not mad at me anymore?" I ask hopefully.
"No, I'm sorry about getting so mad at you. Our conversation last night made me realise I was being lunatic. Sorry." She apologises.
"It's fine. See you later." I smile.
"See ya." She replies.
I end the call and get ready. When I walk downstairs I look at my phone again and see that I have 3 texts. They are from Joy, Sandra and Michelle to tell they are fine with it. I do a little happy dance and do the rest of my morning routine. I finish my routine and then I walk out of the door and start my way to Leah's house, since she lives the closest. This gives me a good opportunity to talk with her again, or just to catch up on our lifes. Perhaps I can ask her why she was so angry with me. I arrive at her house and ring the doorbell. Her mom opens the door once again.
"Hello, Lilly." She greets me.
"Hello, is Leah ready to go?" I greet her back.
"Yup, I am! Let's go!" Leah says happily.
"Allright then. Have fun girls." Her mom says.
"We will, mom." Leah says, rolling her eyes.
Nancy closes the door behind us and then we walk to Joy's house together.
"Leah, about our talk yesterday, why were you so mad actually. I can't imagine you being mad because the guy I have a date with and his friend visit me unexpected." I say.
"No, you're right. But I don't want to talk about it right now." She says, getting a little annoyed.
"You know you can tell me everything right? Just like the night of our sleepover." I tell her.
"Yes, Lilly, I know. Please get off the subject now." She says, her voice harder like she's angry.
"Sorry. I just want to know what's wrong with my friends. I don't like to see them and especially you unhappy." I excuse myself.
"I know. But I can't tell you." She says.
"Hey babes! Good to see you again Leah!" Joy shouts.
"Hey Joy!" Leah greets her, pretending nothing happened.
"Lil, I want to apologise for yesterday. For being mad at you. I understand you already had enough on your mind." Joy says.
"It's fine. I understand you too. And I'm sorry." I tell her.
"Oh, come here." She says, wrapping me in a hug.
After that I hug Leah too and we laugh and talk the rest of our way to school, picking up Michelle and Sandra too. When we get at school, I grab my books from my locker and so do the others.
"Lil, I remember you have a date tonight with Liam, right?" Michelle asks.
"Yes, I have." I smile, starting to blush slightly.
"Have you decided what you are going to wear?" Sandra asks.
"No, not yet. He only told me to dress warm." I reply.
"We'll help you get ready this afternoon!" Joy cheers.
"Sure, thanks." I smile.
"Guys, I can't come this afternoon. I promised my mom I'd be home to help her." Leah says.
"Oh, okay, that's fine. I'll send you a picture." I tell her.
"Thanks." Leah smiles, but I have a feeling it's not sincere.
I decide to shrug it off, it's probably because of her events of yesterday.
"Bye, girls. I have to go. Mom's expecting me in 10 minutes." Leah says her goodbye.
"See you, Leah. I'll tell you everything tomorrow." I say, pulling her in for a hug.
"Don't be too upset about it, whatever it is." I whisper in her ear.
"I'll try. See you!" She says, locking eyes with me.
I nod and then she turns around and walks away. Once she is almost off the school yard, a black car pulls up. She opens the door of the car and steps into it. I don't recognise it from her dad or mom. But it can be that they have a new car I don't know about. I shrug this off too and listen to the chatting of the other girls. I get involved in the conversation and slowly we grab our stuff and walk to my home. I unlock the door and drop my bag next to the door. Joy, Michelle and Sandra do the same.
"A drink first?" I ask them.
"Depends." Michelle answers.
"On what?" I ask.
"When does Liam pick you up?" Joy asks.
"Uhh. At 7 I think." I say.
"You know or you guess?" Sandra butts in.
"I guess? I can't remember he said an actual time." I explain.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Text him!" Joy says.
I grab my phone from my pocket and unlock it before going to What'sApp.
Hey, Liam. What time are you coming?
"Done." I tell the girls.
"Good. Now let's get a drink." Joy smirks.
"You know where you can find it." I tell them.
They walk to the kitchen. I hear the ringtone telling me I have a message. I look at the screen and see it's from Liam.
I'll be there at 7. Looking forward to it.
I smile at the message and type a quick reply, telling it's allright and that I'm looking forward to it too.
"I was right girls. He's here at 7!" I shout towards the kitchen.
"It's now 5! Take a shower! We'll pick some clothes for you and after that we'll do your make-up and hair!" Michelle shouts back.
I walk upstairs and do as I was told. I undress myself and grab underwear from my cupboard. I walk into the bathroom, lock the door, clean my eyes from the make-up and grab a towel. Then I step into the shower and turn on the water. Not long after that I hear some laughing in my room. Joy, Michelle and Sandra are probably picking clothes right now. I rinse my body and wash it along with my hair. Then I turn off the water and dry my body with the towel. I put on my underwear and step out of the bathroom.
"Done. What did you pick?" I ask.
"You're wearing that underwear?" Joy asks, motioning to my unmatching bra and panties.
"Yes." I say, not getting her point.
Joy rolls her eyes, sighs and walks to my cupboard. She grabs a matching red pair of underwear and pushes it in my hands.
"Put this on. I'm sure Liam will love it." She says, the last part muttering under her breath.
"Liam and I are just having a date. I'm not going any further with him than maybe a kiss." I tell her.
"That's what you say now." Joy argues.
I sigh and walk back into the bathroom to change. I don't feel like having a fight with her right now. I quickly change and walk back out.
"Better?" I ask.
"Better." Michelle says.
"So, what have you guys picked?" I say, being curious.
"Take a look." Sandra says, pointing to the clothing on the bed.
I walk over to it and see it's a black skinny jeans with a few rips and a black T-Shirt with a drawing of a skateboard and a red leather jacket. Next to the bed are my shoes: red converse.
"It's awesome." I tell them.
"We know." Michelle says.
"Plus, it matches your underwear." Joy jokes.
Sandra and Michelle laugh and I decide to get dressed. I put on my shirt and then my jeans. Then my jacket and last my converse, without socks.
"Why aren't you putting on socks?" Joy asks.
"Don't know. Liam didn't tell me where we're going and this way I'm prepared for everything." I say.
"Whatever you want." She shrugs.
"Okay, now your make-up and hair. Can you please sit on this chair?" Sandra asks.
I nod and walk over to the chair, where I sit down.
"Please, don't make me look like a barbie doll." I plead.
"How long do we have left?" Michelle asks.
Joy grabs her phone from her pocket.
"It's 18.13, that means we have 30 minutes." She says.
"Let's get to work then." Sandra says.
They start fiddling with my hair and apply some make-up to my eyes. 20 minutes later they are done.
"Done." Joy says.
She looks happy with the result.
"Can you hand me my hand mirror?" I ask.
Michelle walks over to my desk and grabs it. She hands it to me and I look into it. They did my hair in a fishtail braid and they put on some light make-up.
"It's beautiful. Can't you come every morning to do my hair and make-up?" I joke.
"Sorry, we have to do our own." Sandra says.
Right then the doorbell rings.
"That's probably Liam." I say.
I can't help but get nervous.
"Go. We'll stay up here until you're gone. He won't know we're here. When you two have left we'll go home too." Michelle tells me.
I nod and open my bedroom door. I walk down the stairs and open the door. Liam is standing there with his hair in a quiff as usual, but it looks like he's put some more effort in it. He's wearing a brown coat and under that a blue plaid button up shirt. The last few buttons are loose, revealing a white shirt. He's wearing blue boy-skinny jeans. (For a picture, watch the Night Changes video, he looks so hot there)
"Hey, Lilly. I must say you look beautiful." He smiles.
"You don't look too bad yourself either." I tell him.
I hear the click of a camera behind me and a few giggles. I turn around and I see a few strands of hair disappearing.
"Guys, if you just once do what you say." I sigh.
"Sorry! We just wanted to see you two lovebirds being together!" Joy shouts in apologise, which causes me to blush.
"Just come downstairs and leave." I tell them.
Liam laughs at me. The girls come downstairs and Michelle and Sandra flash Liam a smile.
"Have fun you two." Joy says before walking past us out the door.
The other two follow her and then it's just Liam and I.
"Shall we go?" Liam asks.
"Sure. Just let me grab my phone." I reply.
I run upstairs and grab my phone from my bed. Then I run back downstairs.
"Ready." I say.
"Cool." Liam replies.
I grab my keys and purse from the closet in the hall and put my keys and phone in it. I step outside and close the door. Liam opens the door of his black car and I step in.
"Thank you." I smile.
"Welcome." He replies, smiling too.
He is dressed so hot tonight. His smile looks cuter than ever. He trimmed the little beard he had. He walk to the other side of the car and steps in too. He starts the car and pulls off.
"Where are we going?" I ask him.
"Can't tell you. I'd have to kill you if I did." He jokes.
"Would you really kill someone you like?" I joke back.
"Nope, then I'd have to kill myself too to be with you." He looks at me.
"I would do the same." I say, but it comes out more as a question.
Liam laughs and we talk a bit more. A little while later I look around me again and I recognise it.
"I think I know where we're going." I tell Liam.
"No, you don't." He says, trying to keep the surprise.
"We're going to the beach, aren't we?" I ask.
"No." He says even though I can see at his face that he's disappointed that I know.
"Sorry. I'm not very good with surprises. I always ruin them." I say, sending him a reassuring smile.
"It's fine." He says, but I can see he's not.
He's sad that I ruined it. Why? God, why do I always have to ruin things like this? Great, now I'm feeling guilty too.
"Hey, Lilly, don't worry about it. It's fine, really. Okay, I was a little disappointed, but I'm over it, because I still have things planned you don't know." He says, putting his hand on my knee.
"Did I say anything out loud?" I ask, a little shocked.
"No, I just saw at your face that you were worrying." He answers.
"Okay, I'll stop worrying right now. Only if you don't put on that puppy dog face of yours." I laugh.
Liam laughs too.
"Okay, I will too." He says.
Right then we pull up into an empty parking lot.
"We're here, at the beach." Liam says.
He steps out of the car and I make movements to open my door. Liam sees it and puts his hands up as sign for me to stop. He walks to my side of the car and opens the door for me, holding his hand out for me to grab.
"There you go, madam." He says like a taxi/limousine driver.
"Thank you sir." I reply, taking his hand.
Liam closes and locks the door behind me.
"You don't really need your purse, just your phone is enough." Liam tells me.
"Can I put it back in the car then?" I ask.
I feel much more comfortable if I don't need to walk around with it all the time. Liam nods and unlocks the car. I grab my phone and open the front door to put my purse out of sight. Then I close the door again and he locks it.
"Thanks. I feel much more comfortable without having to walk around with that thing all the time." I tell Liam.
"Thought so." He smiles.
"Why?" I ask, quasi-offended.
"Because you didn't seem the type to walk around with bags with make-up and stuff all the time." He explains.
"Well thanks." I say, still acting offended.
Liam laughs. We walk down the parking lot and onto the beach.
"You might want to take off your shoes." He says, bending down to pull off his own.
I take off my converse and grab them before running towards the sea.
"Can you look this way for a while?" Liam asks.
I look to Liam and see he is holding his phone. I think he's taking pictures of me. Being the silly girl I am, I stand in a few crazy poses, while the sea floods over my feet and a part of my jeans.
"Shit! Now my jeans are wet! Thank you so much Liam!" I shout, not being angry or anything.
Liam just laughs and walks over to me.
"But you still look beautiful." He flirts.
"Thank you." I say.
"Come on, let's walk for a little." He says.
We walk together, me in the sea and he on the beach. After a little while Liam takes my hand and leads me a bit further up the beach.
"This was the other surprise." He says.
I look up and see a red and white checkered plaid laying on the sand, with a basket on it and plates and cups next to it.
"You mean, we're going to have dinner right here?" I ask in disbelief.
"Yup." Liam replies, seeming pretty proud with himself.
He walks past me and sits down on the plaid, signalling for me to come too.
"It's so romantic. This is a date like I always think of them. I always wanted a date like this." I tell Liam before pulling him in for a hug.
"No problem. We are right in time for the sunset." He answers.
"Really? Just when I thought it couldn't get more perfect!" I scream out in happiness.
Liam grabs a plate and pulls a slice of pizza out of the basket. He puts it on the plate and hands it to me. He grabs one for himself and pours us a drink. We sit quietly and eat our pizza, watching as the sun sets in the sea.
"It's so beautiful." I say after a while.
"I know. I come here often to watch the sun go down. It clears my mind or something." He tells me.
"Do you bring other girls here often?" I ask.
"No, you're the first one." He says.
"Thank you." I say when I finish my pizza.
The sun is down now and it's dark. Liam grabs his phone to light and he picks a few candles out of the basket. He lights them and we chat for a while. I feel it starting to get cold and I shiver.
"Are you cold?" Liam asks.
"Yes." I reply.
"Here." He takes off his coat and wraps it around my shoulders.
"Aren't you getting cold now?" I ask.
"No, I'm fine." He answers.
"Shall we walk back?" Liam asks.
I nod and Liam blows out the candles. He puts them in the basket along with the plaid. He picks it up and grabs his shoes. I grab mine and we walk back. Soon we arrive back at the car and Liam unlocks it. I step in and he does the same, putting the basket in the back.
"I loved it." I tell him.
"So did I. Do you want to go on another date with me?" He asks.
"Yes, but I get to pick where we're going." I say.
"Cool." He replies.
He drives me back home and I give him a hug goodbye. I unlock my front door and walk in. I turn around and see Liam driving off. I wave one last time before closing the door and going to bed.
A/N: Sorry it took me so long to update! I'm busy with school and I don't have much time to write. But here's a long chapter. Hope you guys like it.
